A fellow grandparent standing in the rain as we dropped children off at the nearby scout centre suggested The Hatch Inn when I asked him where I could find somewhere to work and maybe eat nearby in the 1.5 hours until I collected my granddaughter. Well I'm hugely grateful to him, for The Hatch Inn was a find. The staff were lovely and very helpful, the atmosphere welcoming on a miserable early evening, I managed to get some work done - but the food was just sublime. I had a smoked salmon linguini. I don't often order things I cook myself, because you develop a taste for favourites, but this one was perfection. I prefer using soured cream to creme fraiche and I think they did the same as there was a subtle sharpness to the sauce. The pasta was cooked to perfection, the salmon was plentiful in a generous and filling portion. The meal cost £15 and was excellent value for money. Some men at a nearby table said they went there as it was famous for its pies and they raved about their meal when it came. I've asked the family to book my birthday meal here in October and my husband has already chosen his pie!

Recent trip foe business but was instead a pleasure. Stunning room that was immaculate. Some people steal toiletries or towels, if I could I would've stolen the bed it was so comfortable. Love the added touch of having fresh milk available for the room for the extensive tea, coffee & hot chocolate made available inc coffee machine which won me over. Staff & owners really lovely & food excellent & fast service. Will definitely return.

My partner and I contacted The Hatch Inn quite last minute when we decided to stay overnight on a trip to Taunton. The staff were extremely accommodating and enabled us to bring our dog. The building itself is amazing. So old and full of features. The little village is adorable and very typical old England! We found the staff to be so welcoming and our room was delightful, spotlessly clean and the bed was so comfy, the waterfall shower was heaven and we were stocked up with Yorkshire tea and biscuits! Staff couldn’t do enough for us and our dog! We were shown to our room and given a breakfast choice form to fill out! It’s hard to choose! The best thing about our stay at The Hatch Inn was the evening meal! It was faultless. Along with everything else we ate/drank and our waitress was so lovely! The smoked salmon linguine was sublime. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better…. The breakfast!!!! We will certainly be back! Extremely reasonable and an all round very pleasant stay! Thank you The Hatch Inn!

Cannot recommend more highly. Ask for the family room! It’s STUNNING!

Lovely pub, very quick service. Staff were attentive and responsive when we were there on a hot evening with a grumpy baby. Disappointed by my onion bhaji burger. I assumed it would be a big crispy onion bhaji in a bun with mango chutney and raita but it was two patties that weren't really like onion bhajis. The bun was nice but I think there was mayo in there but not raita or chutney. I've heard it so many times - meat free food is harder to flavour, you have fewer ingredients to use but when you have very well established food conventions and ingredients, firmly in the public domain (as opposed to faffing around with aquafaba, for example) but they are left out, I'm stumped. It's also very quick and easy to make a nice onion bhaji. The chips however were very nice.

Restaurant offers imaginative choices at reasonable prices. Quite tasty but certainly the lamb main needed more meat. The pork roulade equally lacked some of the flavours in the description. We enjoyed our overnight bed and breakfast stay, the room was very comfortable and the fan provided was put to use to keep the temperature down. In room refreshments good with fresh milk readily available. Breakfast was excellent with a pleasing range of choices.

Very friendly staff, Our room was very clean including bedding etc ,However TV was virtually unviewable as it was close to the ceiling , No room cleaning was done whist we were there, Rubbish bin was over flowing, No bed making , No topping up of Tea Milk ,Plus No Towel changing etc. The pub was under going extensive building works interior & exterior, A bit of a very noisy building site to say the least. The food was substandard burgers in buns ,I changed to a Steak & Ale pie one night, and left most of it as the meat was extremely tough inedible.Pointed this out to owner, Who made no real comment, and we still paid the full price, No adjustments are made. Furthermore the pub had various beer signs around bar, but did not have anything i asked for ,ie- No popular Ales ,most pubs usually have. Summer Ale was only on offer, which was nothing i have ever heard of . The cost of our stay we thought was extremely expensive, Considering our overall experience of everything mentioned ,Poor food & noisy building works ongoing We would unfortunately never return to this Pub.

As we were staying the night on Saturday 28th at The Hatch Mill (See separate review) we decided to have our evening meal also as the bar/restaurant was ideal for our dog. The property has a relaxed informal restaurant with a nice log fire and ample space between the table and chairs and a good atmosphere in the bar section. Having perused the menu my wife and I both agreed we would have the Dover Sole Benoit £18.00 with Fowey mussels and a white wine creme fraiche sauce, boiled potatoes and broccoli. The fish was cooked to perfection but lacked flavour as you could not taste the white pepper, lemon or dry cider for Benoit and the sauce was also insipid. Once starting to eat the broccoli that was under the fish was under cooked and cold (Ben our waiter asked if we would wish to have the broccoli exchanged but we said we would just leave it). My wife finished off with the lovely Plum and Amaretti Crumble with custard (I know as I had a couple of spoonfuls). To accompany our meal half of San Miguel £2.00 and Black Dog Gin and tonic £5.30 and round off with double espresso £2.00/Amaretto £5.80. The service by Ben and the bar lady were attentive and friendly and if in the area we would try again but was surprised that there was no deduction off our bill when I paid in the morning.

And what a wonderful experience it was to dine there… most notably due to the staff. The meal was quite nice.. lovely Country Inn dining.. but what we were impressed with was the attitude and approach of the staff. In my experience of dining out these day, the experience can vary so much depending on the way the staff interact with you. And these days, it seems it’s very rare to have a pleasant, engaging and pleasing experience of which you attribute to the engaging staff.

I stayed once when the local hotel was full - and it was a great experience!) I took an elderly relative from the local nursing home. However I would not go out of my way to have a meal there unless these issues were addressed.

Firstly my main gripe was the menu situation. From the website it looked like there was a choice of English or Indian but on arrival was told the Indian menu was the only one available. I had lamb rogan josh which was ok if a little bland. I had mashed potato with it which was a nice touch. My girlfriend's chicken korma was over cooked with not enough sauce (in our opinion) Was offered complimentary drink but declined as we wanted to get out because the room was a wee bit chilly. Overall disappointing

Popped in on a return trip from Taunton with son for lunch. Place was daft busy with a big Xmas do, but the head barman was very helpful and set us up at a great table by the excellent fire. Really nice beer, which is apparently their own. Son had a steak ciabatta, which he said was excellent, and I has steak and mushroom pie with swathes of additional gravy, and, bizarrely, some really excellent kale as an accompaniment. Pretty superior pub food, and as a pub it had all the important features - darts board, spirits in bottles not optics, decent looking gin and rum, and proper Russian vodka.

We had an evening meal at the Hatch Inn and were pleasantly surprised to find a varied menu which was different to ' the usual Pub Menu'. The food was well cooked and presented and was obviously prepared from well chosen ingredients.

Had our evening meal here whilst staying in the Farthings Hotel about 100 yards away. We were on a budget so decided to avoid the hotel menu as it was out of our price range.

Another excellent Saturday night meal at the Hatch with my elderly parents. The menu has a good variety with something for everybody with a good selection of beer and wine. I am especially enjoying the variety of Gin on offer with Elderflower and Grapefuit tonic my current favourite. Thank you Tony, Claire and team.

Despite not being locals we were made to feel very welcome, the service was outstanding. Reserved a table for Saturday night. Good menu and the food was hot and delicious.

This was my 'local' some 45 years ago; it went downhill in the late 1970s but it's good to see that the recent change of ownership has improved it enormously. I met a friend there for a mid-week pub lunch and wasn't disappointed - a reasonable menu without silly 'gastropub' nonsense and pleasant, courteous service. Much quieter now that the A358 bypasses Hatch Beauchamp too!

First time we have visited since a change of ownership, and we loved it. Went for a cheeky mid-week lunch and had the most delicious meal. Hamburger and pie and chips and both were superb. Fresh ingredients with special touches like the corn bread bun with the burger, very tasty. Dessert was just as good, but apparently they can't be shared and aren't fattening!!! (House rules) Friendly service with tasteful decor, this place deserves to do well.

Arranged a meal for my Mum's birthday whilst we were away for the night. The Hatch Inn does have a nice atmosphere. But we were let down by slow service. In addition, our starters were forgotten and our mains did not arrive for 45 minutes. We were asked whether we wanted the starters with the mains but obviously this didn't really work that well and the apology we received was limited. 2 out of the 4 mains we had were nice (off of the specials menu) but the other 2 mains were very bland and both suffered from crunchy peas. Puddings took a further 45 minutes, and I requested to have a different flavour ice cream with my dessert which once again was not fulfilled. Desserts also lacked in flavour. I'm unsure if we were just unlucky, due to the fact there was a very large hen do in.

My wife and I have been to the Hatch Inn before and wanted to try a Sunday lunch there. We booked on Sunday morning and got a table for 2 with relative ease. Unfortunately, easy booking may become a thing of the past once word gets out of this great find! The pub was everything we wanted, open log fire, clean interior and very friendly staff. There was a set menu for a Sunday roast - £14.50 for 2 courses or £17.50 for 3 courses. We went straight for the main course and had a roast pork and a roast beef. As you can see from the picture it was very well presented. What you can't see was that it was also delicious! Very well cooked all round. We then finished off with a rumble crumble and custard and an affogato - both lovely! Very good value and I would recommend a visit for a classic Sunday lunch in a lovely rural setting
