Great traditional Somerset pub with friendly staff and fantastic food.

Taking into consideration its location, its staff, its cuisine, its ambiance, its clientele and not forgetting its log fire, The Strode Arms in the village of Cranmore is quite possibly the best place for miles around to go out to for a relaxed and enjoyable evening meal. Charming hostess, busy chef, imaginative and tastefully presented food and a splendid time being had by one and all.

Lovely cafe .We had a great lunch . Would recommend this cafe as all the food looked really nice and was freshly prepared. Would visit again

Directed to this pub on a Monday by the landlord of the Poacher’s Pocket (as he wasn’t serving food on a Monday). What a great recommendation. No frills but comfortable clean pub and the food was great. Fantastic value for money as on Mondays they offer many of the dishes on the Sunday lunch menu for £7.00. Three of us ate main and dessert, plus our drinks £52. What a bargain. Very friendly landlord landlady and barmaid. Thank you!

Lovely host, make sure we was well look after and had everything we needed. The room was spacious and the beds was comfy. Had breakfast in the morning and it was very tasty. Would defo recommend!

We arrived at noon for a reserved table for lunch . On arrival we were informed that two of the main meals were unavailable and there were no chips with the meals but we could have fries. The 6X beer was also unavailable although it was being served later on . In addition to the very reduced choice of main meals we were told a Wedding party was due soon and we should order our meal promptly ! We ate our mains which were very average and asked for the dessert menu and a coffee only to be told that there was no desserts available and hot drinks were not being served because of the Wedding Party. This was very unsatisfactory and we asked to speak to the manager who basically said there was nothing he would do as the main priority was the wedding party and he would not entertain a discount for an incomplete meal. A very poor response , a course on customer service is required and we will never use this pub again. I should have been warned when I made the telephone booking that there was a limited service !!!!!

Ive been trying to call to book a table for a big party of us wanting to visit for an evening soon. All I seem to ever get is the answerphone??

food and drink is so much more expensive as it’s a franchise Greggs.. But I go to Greggs in Melksham and it’s very much more cheaper Like capacino coffee £3:10 at nunny catch Greggs, and go to Melksham £2:50 for the same and it’s hotter I’ve decided not to go to nunny Greggs just to save money
