Another outstanding meal. Exceptional food, attentive and friendly service, beautifully and tastefully refurbished pub retaining all of its authentic appeal, and brilliant value for money. Absolutely nothing to fault. It's utterly insane that a place can be this successful and busy and also financially unviable. So sad to hear that the tenants are having to leave when they've done everything perfectly. Impossible to imagine the brewery finding a tenant who can do anything better, so it just feels like they want the pub to fail.

Excellent, interesting food and very well presented, in a down to earth, quite pub: A welcome and usual combination these days. Well worth the drive.

What a lovely pub. We reserved a table for lunch and received a friendly greeting. We had a delicious beef open sandwich each. the prices of all the food was very reasonable. The Beer selection was adequate. I heartily recommend this pub and will certainly be back

We had lunch there today in a proper English village pub, used by the locals. The food was superb - pub grub yes but brilliantly done. My wife had the pork belly and I had ham egg and chips. My wife raved about the pork belly and I had some of the best, if not the best ham, egg and chips I have ever eaten in a pub, enlivened by home made pineapple and chilli relish. I could have eaten the whole lot again but the portions so generous I didn't. The service was professional and friendly with a good selection of wines, beers and ciders. It was pouring with rain so we were unable to enjoy the setting, opposite the duck pond in a Somerset village. Go there and enjoy and thank your lucky stars that places like this exist still. I've eaten in many restaurants all over the world, some very sophisticated, and not had better food.

From the moment I arrived as a solo traveller, I was made to feel welcome in this charming little pub. The service was great, with nothing being too much of a problem. This was the best pork belly meal I have ever eaten and I have eaten in MANY places. The portion was plentiful and I just had to order a side of chips after these were recommended by my Air B and B host - safe to say I couldn't eat them all but they tasted delicious! I stayed just around the corner in one of the railway shepherds huts and was very thankful for the 10% discount on food here during my stay. Having travelled all the way from Cornwall, I was wary of finding somewhere good to eat - everything was perfect!

Popped in for superb Sunday lunch. Not your usual carrot and peas pub...but a wonderful selection of vegetables and roast potatoes to die for...too full for pud though they did look nice. Beer was good too. Highly recommended hidden gem.

The three of us pre booked lunch today. It was absolutely brilliant. For reasonable prices the food was so amazing. The sheer selection of flavours in my chicken and ham pie with veg was out of this world. My wife said her beef and mushroom open topped sarnie was one of the best meals she's had. Our adult son adored his burger. Lovely, friendly service in a beautiful setting. Thank you for a great lunch!

Really tasty main course and beautifully presented. No room for a pud! Good glass of wine and coffee at the end. Reasonably priced and value for money. Made a nice change to eat out mid December and NOT be offered a Christmas menu!! Slightly cheaper traditional pub meals offered for 'everyday' eating. Real fires lit making the place warm and welcoming. Would recommend others to come and will be back in the new year.

A Thursday lunchtime midweek and we fancied having lunch out. I've been coming here for 50 years and have seen landlords come and landlords go. We were warmly received and seated in the main bar area, which is pleasantly decorated. The menu choice is good but there is room for expansion with perhaps a few more veggie choices. My steak and ale pie was very tasty, and my veggie wife's beetroot was also apparently, but neither of us quite understand the fascination with beetroot. We finished the meal with the blackberry and apple crumble dessert which had a good biscuit crumble and wasn't too sweet. It just needs more punters to lift the atmosphere. Give yourselves some publicity on local social media pages. You deserve the increased footfall.

One of the best steaks I have ever had. And I am not exaggerating. The chips were also amazing. My wife had the pie which was equally delicious. The staff were very friendly and spoilt our two dogs. Seek this pub out, I highly recommend.

We ate an early Sunday lunch here yesterday. Roast lamb cooked to perfection with great selection of vegetables. No room for dessert! Shame we don't live locally.

We stumbled upon this countryside Gem on thursday the 24th August we were greeted by the landlady who was very friendly and attentive to our needs she seated us to our table we ordered the fish and chips and the meat pie both was absolutely delicious!! Both Made with top quality ingredients and well presented we both had room for dessert I myself had the cheesecake which was lovely and creamy and my husband had the creme brulee which he thoroughly enjoyed! We will definitely be back!!

Beautiful pub in a quiet village. Tasteful and charming recent redecoration throughout, while retaining all the character of a traditional English rural local. Excellent food and consistently friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommended.

After a wander round Wells and Cranmore we hit upon this place just after they had stopped serving food for the afternoon. However, the barman was extremely helpful and offered us a number of options from which we chose a superb Ham Egg & Chips with a sweet mustard relish that had to be tasted to be believed, This pub has a good reputation food which is well deserved. Recommended (and we will be returning!)

What can I say other than this was the best pub meal I’ve ever eaten! The menu was restaurant standard as was the meal 😊 The publicans were friendly and accommodating and the pub welcoming . Am looking forward to having a Sunday Lunch soon 😊

My wife and I have just returned to the Strode Arms after the new owners took over. We both had the Sunday roast, I had beef my wife had lamb. We could not fault the food or service, we can’t think we’ve ever had better. Well done to the Strode, we will be back again.

Birthday lunch, 3 adults and one little woofer. All good was lovely (3 roasts, one pork and 2 lamb), looked lovely and only niggle would be a bit more lamb - pork was a good portion. Veggies good and plenty for me. Enough room to consider pudding, 2 sticky toffee pubs and I had the chocolate tart - all lovely.
