A really friendly welcome this morning.we were first in for breakfast shortly after opening time. The staff were really nice and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and coffee so good we had a second cup, this set us up for our day on the next stage of the South West Coast path. A great find.

Highly recommend. Without a doubt the best burger in Newquay and the staff were very friendly. Will be back soon.

Disappointing. They might be able to get away with the tiny portions and expensive prices if the food was good but sadly this wasn’t the case. The halibut main was overcooked and dry. The lamb main was tasty but about 4 mouthfuls. Starters were two minuscule scallops. The other starter was so unmemorable I actually couldn’t tell you. Passing off button mushrooms as “wild mushrooms”. We were so appalled I couldn’t bring myself to order dessert despite being left a bit hungry. Lovely waiting staff and the only redeeming feature is you get some warm bread to start with.

Updated as visited again for coffee, cake and a nice view and the view didn't disappoint. Coffee took 25min and the cake was the dryest I've ever put in my mouth quite disgusting which I told the waiter and he took my cake never to return, no replacement, no refund. Apparently this is new owners and looking at my last review carrying on the same trend of selling way below par tucker at extended time-frames with inflated prices. I possibly didn't have the full fern pitt cafe experience as we didn't venture down the steps. Only stopping for 2xCrab sandwiches and a drink I was relieved of £25 expecting good things. The wait was long as expected on a nice warm day but the rain did come so we wanted to ask to make ours takeaway the only entrance we could find to ask we were shouted at to get out repeatedly by the staff we didn't enter anywhere we popped our head round the door. We did get a takeaway and the little lady that served us was very polite. The sandwiches were on plain brown bread and some crab inside.

Cocktails were delightful. The spicy watermelon margarita was great but tiny and served in a thimble. The oh my mango/mango and pear cocktail was refreshing and lovely. Brooklyn lager? Poretti? We’re in Cornwall, a place continually fighting for its regional identity and you serve this muck instead of Korev/St Austel, offshore/Sharps, Harbour brewing, verdant, firebrand or any of the other many Cornish breweries? It’s insulting to Cornwall and also awful BEER!

This is a quirky nautical themed pub, full of a collection of fascinating seafaring artefacts... worth a visit just for this. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and as a pub it has a good selection of beer. However, the food. I ordered a chicken marinated with garlic and herbs with chips, my wife the crab. I was surprised to find the chicken was a breast, with the lumps of garlic / herb butter placed on top... even after allowing the butter to melt on the chicken it was still a bit dry and flavourless... not exactly marinated. The crab was ok, however both meals also let down by some of the driest chips I have ever had, I practically had to take a sip of beer with each mouthful to get it down... I am old school and brought up to clear my plate, however in this case we both just had to give up and leave a stash of chips... finishing the chicken just out of principle not enjoyment. It feels like a place that has a cook rather than a chief. Ok for a beer but better places to eat.

Had the joy of eating here with family twice in the past couple of weeks. The first time was nice, however a little limited on the choices that we liked in the menu. But what we did order was lovely and empty plates all round. The second time we visited we were told it was the first night with their new menu, which was fabulous! Really tasty and varied food. Again really enjoyed by all members of the family. The hotel is a family friendly hotel which caters brilliantly for young kids with a indoor playarea etc, so a little hectic with kids running around enjoying themselves, however the staff are relaxed and attentive so it never felt overwhelming.

Booked a table for afternoon tea one week in advance - was given the option to book for adults and child and the booking was all confirmed by email. One week later the night before we were due to visit I had a call to say table had been cancelled as they don't accept children. If it's an adult only hotel then fine, but why give the option to add a child when booking? Also why wait a week after the booking was made to cancel leaving no time to make alternative arrangements for a special occasion! The child was a 12 years old but wasn't even given the chance to tell them this.
