Highly recommend. Without a doubt the best burger in Newquay and the staff were very friendly. Will be back soon.

We were staying in the hotel and decided to have dinner in the restaurant attached. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the staff were aware of this and gave us a bottle of wine on the house. The food were ordered was well cooked and presented. Good price as well. The front of house lady (Amanda I think her name was) was really nice. There were two other staff on - one was more friendly than the other.

Fine dining? Read the menu, it’s all pretentious twaddle. The chef needs to go on a course with particular reference to portion sizes. I ordered Cornish lamb, we were a group of 6 and someone else ordered lamb aswell. I was really looking forward to it, I love lamb. Well we waited almost an hour for the food, and I needed a magnifying glass to see it. The lamb measured approx 3 in x 2in, and we were charged £24 for that! We complained about the size and the waitress was very apologetic (I suspect she’d heard all these complaints before) and the chef rustled up 1more paltry portion for each of us, and said they would not charge us for the lamb. Admittedly it tasted really good, but come on they are surely taking the mick! I can see from previous reviews that complaints about the portion sizes have been going on for some time, so why on earth don’t they do something about it?

Cocktails were delightful. The spicy watermelon margarita was great but tiny and served in a thimble. The oh my mango/mango and pear cocktail was refreshing and lovely. Brooklyn lager? Poretti? We’re in Cornwall, a place continually fighting for its regional identity and you serve this muck instead of Korev/St Austel, offshore/Sharps, Harbour brewing, verdant, firebrand or any of the other many Cornish breweries? It’s insulting to Cornwall and also awful BEER!

Ordered 3 alcoholic drinks but unfortunately my 18yr old forgot his ID so he wasn’t allowed his drink which was fair enough, his own fault ,went back for a second drink about 45 mins later 1 pint of beer ( for my husband ) a Diet Coke and a glass of water for my son ,was asked by the barmen “my colleague has told me to ask you if that pint is for the dude who hasn’t got his ID !!!!! I said no it wasn’t but I was extremely offended that he asked that ,we had already accepted he couldn’t have a drink as no ID but to be asked that was totally out of order !! I asked to see the manager and was told management had gone home and Dean presented himself he served me in the first instance ,I questioned him as to why he asked his colleague to ask me that ???? He said it was policy ! So it’s policy to ask a 58 year old who her drinks are for when it was already established my son had no ID and it wasn’t for him ! wont be coming back they are much nicer in the mill bay down the road !!!

Had the joy of eating here with family twice in the past couple of weeks. The first time was nice, however a little limited on the choices that we liked in the menu. But what we did order was lovely and empty plates all round. The second time we visited we were told it was the first night with their new menu, which was fabulous! Really tasty and varied food. Again really enjoyed by all members of the family. The hotel is a family friendly hotel which caters brilliantly for young kids with a indoor playarea etc, so a little hectic with kids running around enjoying themselves, however the staff are relaxed and attentive so it never felt overwhelming.

Booked a table for afternoon tea one week in advance - was given the option to book for adults and child and the booking was all confirmed by email. One week later the night before we were due to visit I had a call to say table had been cancelled as they don't accept children. If it's an adult only hotel then fine, but why give the option to add a child when booking? Also why wait a week after the booking was made to cancel leaving no time to make alternative arrangements for a special occasion! The child was a 12 years old but wasn't even given the chance to tell them this.
