Booked a table for afternoon tea one week in advance - was given the option to book for adults and child and the booking was all confirmed by email. One week later the night before we were due to visit I had a call to say table had been cancelled as they don't accept children. If it's an adult only hotel then fine, but why give the option to add a child when booking? Also why wait a week after the booking was made to cancel leaving no time to make alternative arrangements for a special occasion! The child was a 12 years old but wasn't even given the chance to tell them this.

Really nice afternoon tea. Every dietary point noted before arrival. Home made scones were lovely and the sandwiches were fresh.

We opted to have the basic Afternoon Tea and this was well worth it. The scones were very fresh and plenty of cream and jam were provided (or should that be jams and cream!). My wife could not manage her two scones so I had to finish them for her - no problem there!!

Booked an afternoon tea having read the great reviews but was throughly disappointed. I never write reviews but felt I had to on this occasion! Rotten strawberries and served a half eaten jam pot! See below for more details.... Views were stunning but the food itself was disappointing and far below the standard I would expect for the fee charged and the food received. Small quantities (I treat myself to afternoon teas fairly often so have a good idea what's normally included) one pot of tea, three finger sandwiches, one scone, one piece of cake, one chocolate and two very miniature cakes simply don't live up to the fee charged. Oh and by the way serving the jam in individual pots is okay as long, as unlike mine, you don't serve an already opened half eaten pot!!! The fresh strawberries were also rotten too. In my opinion there much better places to have afternoon tea than here. Just go for a drink and admire the views! So disappointing and still charged full price even though I raised the issues concerned!

We visited this pub twice during our short visit as the food was so good and very reasonably priced. On our first visit we had the freshly caught cod and chips which really did look like a whale on a plate. Would highly recommend this place and the staff were really helpful and friendly.
