Fine dining? Read the menu, it’s all pretentious twaddle. The chef needs to go on a course with particular reference to portion sizes. I ordered Cornish lamb, we were a group of 6 and someone else ordered lamb aswell. I was really looking forward to it, I love lamb. Well we waited almost an hour for the food, and I needed a magnifying glass to see it. The lamb measured approx 3 in x 2in, and we were charged £24 for that! We complained about the size and the waitress was very apologetic (I suspect she’d heard all these complaints before) and the chef rustled up 1more paltry portion for each of us, and said they would not charge us for the lamb. Admittedly it tasted really good, but come on they are surely taking the mick! I can see from previous reviews that complaints about the portion sizes have been going on for some time, so why on earth don’t they do something about it?

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend last month to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. She's a woman of taste so I let her choose with no input from myself! The rooms are stunning. I would have provided the room we were allocated to, but the lady who showed us to our room suggested a different room as we have a newborn son (admittedly we forgot to mention that on booking) and the bedding situation would simply work out better. I digress. Yes stunning room, I'm not one for aesthetics but it was kind of open, yet cosy, with an entirely private yet gigantic view over the Atlantic ocean and the rocks on the cliff below. Something I do care about is showers. I've stayed in a lot of hotels in my years and so would call myself a connoisseur. A gorgeous rain shower thing in an open wet room. Massive soft towels. Just rather plush. Food was incredible on the night we managed to get a table at the restaurant. Room service fast, polite, and accommodating. Far enough away from Newquay to feel as if you're in the middle of nowhere, but close enough to get some nappies. If you want something delivered there by UPS though, do not bother. Unrelated to this review but UPS just refuse to drive down what is just a normal ..... road. Anyway. Banging time. Thanks a lot!

Had the joy of eating here with family twice in the past couple of weeks. The first time was nice, however a little limited on the choices that we liked in the menu. But what we did order was lovely and empty plates all round. The second time we visited we were told it was the first night with their new menu, which was fabulous! Really tasty and varied food. Again really enjoyed by all members of the family. The hotel is a family friendly hotel which caters brilliantly for young kids with a indoor playarea etc, so a little hectic with kids running around enjoying themselves, however the staff are relaxed and attentive so it never felt overwhelming.
