Sixty in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Awfull food, bland plain and just warmed in microwave. The 2nd night of our stay we ordered dominoes disappointing stay all round would strongly avoid

We were staying in the hotel and decided to have dinner in the restaurant attached. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the staff were aware of this and gave us a bottle of wine on the house. The food were ordered was well cooked and presented. Good price as well. The front of house lady (Amanda I think her name was) was really nice. There were two other staff on - one was more friendly than the other.

We stayed at Pentire hotel and decided to try the restaurant as it was very convenient, specially after a tiring day out! We didn't have a booking but asked if there was any tables avilable like 1hr before and they were happy to take us. The place is very nice and carefully decorated. Food was very tasty and well presented, we ordered halloumi fries, fried fish (can't remember the name!!) and x2 sirloin steaks, ended full and very satisfied, everything was super good! Service was very nice as well so 100% recommended, would repeat if we go back to Newquay :)

The service wasn’t great; we wanted to order more drinks, but no servers stopped by, and we couldn’t get their attention. The food was mediocre and tasted like frozen meat, but no one asked how it was. We had to wait a long time to pay the bill, and again, no one came over. A simple “thank you” would have been appreciated when the payment was made.

We got married in the hotel 8 years ago and my husband likes to return for his birthday meal every year. Thank you to the staff who put the balloons and banner up was a lovely touch and the food was delicious. The salmon was amazing and my husband enjoyed his curry. Love this place ❤️

Awful! Ordered gammon it was barely cooked,sent it back & asked for it to be cooked for longer, 2nd attempt and granted was cooked slightly longer but extremely tough so left the majority of it. Chips had loads of black in them which I know happens but wouldn't dream to serve them to customers. We have eaten here on several occasions over the years but can honestly say tonight was the last time! Very disappointed.

Had afternoon tea one day and an evening meal another day whilst staying at the pentire hotel (the bistro is located in the hotel).. The staff wr so friendly and the food was delicious.. Afternoon tea was plentiful and a great selection.. Vegan and gluten free alternatives wr offered.. I had steak for my evening meal and it was one of the best a ever had.. My daughter has veggie lasagne n garlic bread and said it was beautiful.. The prices are very reasonable and great service by staff.. Will defo go again next time wr in Cornwall

Still recovering from the most wonderful Mother's Day Afternoon Tea treat from my lovely daughter. A good selection of fully filled sandwiches, the best scones I have eaten in a long time and gorgeous mini cakes and lemon posset to finish. I won't need to eat again until two weeks next Wednesday! Our waitress, Olivia, was lovely, really attentive on a very busy afternoon. I don't know how she does it. Thank you for making this a very special day.

During our holiday to Newquay we ate here a few times. Choice of food was great that catered for all even our fussy eaters. Everyone really enjoyed the food, service was really friendly by Olivia, who couldn’t do enough for us. Dog friendly as well!

Absolutely delicious food. Since it is part of a hotel very easy to get seating.

I was staying in the hotel so made this a logical eaterie. I would absolutely book for here for food alone. A simple a la carte menu plus a specials board that changes daily. Food was delicious, presentation excellent, and staff really friendly.

2nd time for afternoon tea here and it's amazing! The staff are super lovely and the small bistro was completely empty except for us, it's a total hidden gem within newquay. The cheapest afternoon tea within MILES (if not all cornwall) and its great quality. Can't recommend enough

We sat at a table of 8 by the door to find the ceiling had a huge patch of plasterwork on the ceiling above our seating area which was leaking in rain water!!! The drip turned into a constant dripping of water. We asked to move but they said they did not have any more tables to accommodate a party of 8. We then said we would squeeze on to a table for 6 taking our cutlery and drinks with us … The food was good value however the decor looked tired and needed some updating especially the ceiling which was letting in water.

Not a great experience. Long waits for starters and mains, and the chicken when it came was covered in an oily bitter 'barbecue' sauce. We were expecting much better for a hotel meal, but apparently similar to alot of hotels in the area.

called in for dinner, didnt pre book but they found us a table, friendly staff, great choice of foods and drinks. Food came, fresh tasty and good sized portions really nice vibe to the place definitely recommend a visit

I haven't eaten here as I stayed at the adjoining hotel,but if the food is as nice then give it a try as the chefs are great

We had the pleasure of eating here 3 evenings while staying at the pentire hotel. The choice was broad and varied, with all diets catered for. The portions were very generous and very good value for money. We loved the side salad- it was huge and colourful!

Really enjoyed eating here. Good selection of vegetarian food and friendly, helpful staff. I would definitely come here again. Good value for money.

Bar snack type restaurant, good size food. I had the Hunters chicken which came with fries and peas.

We ordered the fish and chips, squid and bbq chicken and bacon pizza to take away. Everything was very tasty and decent portion sizes for the money. Everything tasted and looked fresh and the service was nice and quick! Would recommend to anyone staying in Newquay.

Amazing food and really good service

We regretfully chose to eat at this place as we are staying close by in a holiday home. None of the dishes we ordered were freshly prepared and all were frozen meals that were simply reheated, thrown on a plate with no presentation and served. I ordered the Thai green curry that was definitely boil in the bag meal, it was flavourless and supermarket ready meals are far superior. It tasted nothing like a Thai curry and only similarity was it was green. My wife had scampi and chips, which was tasteless and definitely cooked from frozen. The pizzas didn’t go down well with the kids and again similar to cheap shop bought frozen variety. The waitresses were friendly so no issue with service but to pay £90 for a meal we barely touched was very disappointing. It must have been a stand in working as a chef as the images on trip advisor of the meals don’t represent the food we were served.

Staff were welcoming and the service was good. The starters were ok, but the main meals were disappointing. I and my daughter had the loin of cod which was quite nice, but my husband had a burger which was awful and he had to order chips and salad as extra which made it a very expensive burger. My other daughter had a curry which she said was tasteless. Overall we paid quite a lot for a meal that wasn’t very good. The restaurant was nearly empty and lacked any ambiance.

The decor was lovely the food was plentiful and tasty. Good price and quality. Everyone in our group had something they enjoyed - there were 6 of us 11-78 years. The staff were all very helpful, smiley and polite. We had a starter and main which filled us up. The toilets were tiny- my mother in law struggled to get in and out- so go before you get there!!!! Overall nice, relaxed, tasty and not too expensive.

We ate here each evening during our 4 night stay at the Pentire and enjoyed all the meals.As elsewhere in the hotel all the staff who served us were very cheerful and helpful despite being very busy. We did have to wait a little longer for food on the first (Friday) night, but it was no problem.My gluten free diet was well catered for and I had plenty of choice. On the last night we each ordered our favourite dishes again, Cajun chicken salad for my partner and Thai green chicken curry for me - lovely! Booking is recommended as the Bistro is very busy at present.

Felt I needed to leave a review for the Bistro albeit we weren't actually staying at the Pentire Hotel. Booked for an early evening meal and it was fabulous, great choice on the menu, very friendly and obliging staff and the food was very, very tasty. A very nice, comfortable environment and even though we were staying in central Newquay, as the title suggests, it was well worth the walk!Will return again next time we're in Newquay and very much recommended.

Superb afternoon tea and such good value for money. Service was amazing. Forgot to take a picture of it all! These scones are the best ever. Highly recommended. I Never go anywhere else in Newquay for a cream tea as they don't measure up.

Went here for an end of holiday meal, pretty disappointed. Food felt as though it was frozen and then microwaved. Service was also poor with 2 waitresses trying to serve everyone in 2 restaurants and the bar. However the waitress was lovely.

Found this place by accident but then chose to return. The reviews suggested it was good and they were right. We booked a table of 4 adults for 1930 and service was in full flow. I never felt I was waiting and the waitress offered refills at sensible times. We re visited again on a Sunday evening and the service was again very good. Covid rules were in effect to paper menus and cutlery in sealed wrappers. The food on both occasions was lovely. I'd happily return.

We managed to book a late lunch here last minute on a rainy Saturday for 12 people with dogs. Very friendly service and wonderful , home cooked food. Heartily recommend.

Great service, food was lovely with a good portion. I had Hunters chicken and salted caramel torte for pudding. The pudding was out if this world.

A relaxing venue with great choice of food for all times of the day. The homemade soups are a favourite of mine for lunch on the other hand so is the fish and chips as well as the ........! The service is friendly and professional.

Stayed at The Pentire Hotel fir 3 nights in early December and had sandwiches for Lunch two days, and a Pizza one evening.The Sandwiches were reasonably priced and came with crisps and dressed salad, plenty of choice, tasty and did Gluten Free bread. The Pizza, with a Gluten Free base, was outstanding, Chef did a 50/50 topping as shared it with partner. Crammed full of toppings. Outstanding!I also wanted to mention breakfasts. You can walk in I believe or ring up and book in. This was probably the best cooked breakfast I’ve had in a hotel. Quality food on the plate, again GF bread available and the sausage is also GF, not that you would know. 100% Covid-19 safe, and fantastic service from The 3 lads inc Dan during our stay.

No one else in there - why when we had specifically booked the bistro would we want to sit elsewhere? We said we would wait gor a table but were told as they had overbooked there wouldn't be one available. Would definitely not recommend. VERY disappointing...

Called in for lunch after being disappointed by what was in offer/Covid restrictions at a few of the other, more popular, places nearby. Luckily we made the right choice, a lovely selection of light bites on offer, excellent Covid adherence and fantastic service from start to finish what a little gem this place is, we will .most certainly be back!!

During our week in Newquay we visited they Sixty Bistro on our last night. The food here was very nice , great value for money and the staff are so friendly and absolutely deserve all the credit for there hard work during these testing times.This must be one of the few restaurants that adhere to the covid safety rules and also the way the staff go about it is highly commended, I found people were not patience enough with the staff and its not there fault they were busy all the time. would highly recommend a meal in this hotel

Was so happy with the quality of the food at sixty bistro. Had the full rack of ribs from the specials menu (ribs are not available every night unfortunately) and I must admit they were beautiful. Dessert was the chocolate and caramel slice. Once again it was beautiful and also well presented. Cornish Rattler is available on draught, which is a bonus. Social distancing measures are in force at this time.

Went with my family, waiting was good, nice people great service very welcoming and when we have the food could not fault them will go back.

We had a pizza, a chicken burger and a spicy bean burger. They all seemed to be bought in frozen and reheated, and were of low quality. Better burgers are available at McDonalds.No tables had been taken out of service to reduce covid risk and the ambience is an uneasy mixture of old-fashioned artefacts on the walls and intrusive modern music. Much better food is available elsewhere in Newquay.

This is conveniently located for guests staying at the hotel. Staff were friendly on arrival. We were one of two dining tables in the restaurant but had to wait 45 mins for food to come out. We could hear the staff discussing that we were still waiting but no attempt was made to apologise for the delay. I do recommend the children's menu, excellent value for money. The pizza was fine. The pasta however was saturated in oil so was completely inedible. No table checks were completed for the issues with any meals to be resolved, or to request further condiments or drinks; although there were three members of waiting staff working. I mentioned that I couldn't eat the pasta as it was too oily when they eventually came to clear the plates; my response was 'oh that's fine'. I have worked in hospitality so I appreciate how difficult it is to please everyone. But this was not a 50% off day and the restaurant was not busy so can only be assumed that this is down to poor training. Unfortunately, we won't be making use of this restaurant again during the rest of our stay at the hotel.

This bistro is conveniently situated in the Pentire headland within walking distance of our holiday cottage. Recently opened after lockdown, the many safety measures put in place were well thought out and much appreciated. Staff were helpful and friendly. Food was excellent and good value. Will be visiting again next time we are in Newquay.

Meals were both very good quality and reasonably priced.

Could not get a seat at any restaurant in Newquay except for here and wasn't disappointed, I had steak, mushrooms and chips with peppercorn sauce and it was beautiful. It was 3 weeks since we went and I'm still banging on about the chips and peppercorn sauce!!! Get yourself there if your in town

Turned up very late, accommodated late. Service very good. Prompt, we both had the fish and chips, it was cooked really well. Presentation was excellent, would recommend. Both the young boy working and the petite blond lady were excellent. A credit to your restaurant.

The welcome, the staff, the food was awful. If you like poorly cooked expensive food with poor service this is the place for you. Never again.

So disappointed by the food here. A frozen chewy burger (the waitress admitted it was indeed frozen after we’d ordered). I ordered the special of pan fried haddock which was dry and chewy. The new potatoes were wrinkled and hard on the outside as if they’d sat around all day. All in all would recommend avoiding this place. We went here on our last night in Newquay and left feeling deflated and disappointed. Would give zero stars if I could.

Came to this restaurant because of the good reviews - oh dear, the food was awful!! The pizza was 100% just a frozen one out of a box not the ‘stone baked’ they advertise and the rest of the food was completely mediocre, not worth the price tag at all. Service on the other hand was very friendly and polite.

I visited Sixty Bistro on Wednesday to have my first ever afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. On arrival the staff were very welcoming and friendly and our order was taken very promtly as there was a choice of sandwich fillings and tea or coffee. The food took a little while to arrive but I didn't mind as anything that can be made fresh is done so and I have to say it was well worth the wait as it was beautifully presented and looked really lovely. Everything tasted absolutely amazing, the scones were still warm and there was plenty of cream and jam for us both. I couldn't of wished for a better more tasty afternoon tea and I will definately be going back again especially as it was such a reasonable price for the amount of food you get.

Having not been here in 3 years as just me and my now 14 year old Son we decided to go again today with my now Wife. It did not disapoint yet again! The Staff are simply the best. They are lovely, smart, professional, attentive and very friendly. Starters we had Nachos, Pate and Bread with Oils and Olives. Absolutely fab! The Chutney with the pate was just lovely. We then had two steaks one with blue cheese sauce and one with peppercorn. Steaks cooked to order to perfection. Plate absolutely full with the onion rings, salad and chips. Beat me! The sauces are well worth the £3 as they come in a little jug and there is more than plenty. My Son was beaten by his pizza so the lovely Staff very kindly boxed it up for him to bring home. The decor is lovely and very welcoming and cosy. Just can not fault this place at all. If you haven't been then go simples. You will not be disapointed. We will be back and sooner than in 3 years time Thank you Sixty

Having decided that this was the place for a late lunch we were greeted by polite, professional staff and shown to a table. Lovely setting, well styled. We each chose a starter; gorgeous.. Recommend the pate. Mains, 2 selected steak with a sauce each and son had pepperoni pizza and side of chips. He definately had eyes greedier than his belly. Excellent pizza. Side order good sized portion.Steaks were cooked exactly as requested. Shall definately bereturning. 5 out of 5 for friendliness of staff. 5 out of 5 for the quality of food.

Great food, lovely service, not bad prices, this place also has a spa and swimming pool, yet to try this! Not a lot of parking, great little find! Would recommend it!

We were staying at the hotel and found sixty to be more comfortable to be in than the bar ( I know that is being looked at ) The hotel kindly gave us a voucher for a free cream tea ...WOW I’ve never had such a large scone and it was the best I’ve had . We ate there Monday night and you can’t fault the food . The young guy Joe serving was a credit to the hotel , friendly , helpful always a smile on his face .

Went for sunday lunch 2 course £11.95. Absolutely becuase food and amazing potion size. Definitely couldn't get a 3 course meal. Joe the waiter was lovely. Brussels pate was delicious (forgot to take a photo) roast lamb with all the trimmings just delicious but too much for us, and Belgium sugar waffle just look at it HEAVEN. Will definitely be visiting again.

Very disappointed with the afternoon tea but we were well looked after and friendly staff

I went with some friends for a cream tea. It took an hour to get served, when there were only four other people in there. It took over half an hour to get our scone, jam and cream. The tea arrived about 5 minutes before the scone. Very little jam and cream, so hard, that we all wondered if it had been frozen. The scone came warm but was made from a scone mix and tasted cheap. The whole experience was not what we expected from this hotel. I certainly wouldn't bother again. Expensive but using cheap ingredients. Staff that need to know what they are doing. Much too slow.

Away with the wife for a short getaway and we stumble upon this gem! We both had crab and prawn cake starter which was ok but the mains were amazing!!Beef stir fry for me and BBQ chicken pizza, she still claims it's the best BBQ sauce she's had on a pizza to date. Staff were great and really helpful, can't wait to go back

Books a table sesame day and went for dinner, it was great the food was excellent with a good selection and at great prices. We sat in the bar with the dog, or there is an outside terrace , but the view is not coastal, it is of the road and a lot of smokers use it!Really enjoyed the meal but food could have been hotter when it arrived.Well worth the money.

Please visit this place, just let the food do the talking. Staff were friendly and they weren't just serving us, they were proud of the food being served. Heavily under-rated!!

We stayed in the Pentire Hotel and Sixty is located on site. Both myself and my partner are vegetarians - didn’t have any problems finding something on the menu! It was by far the best meal we had whilst we were in Newquay. We enjoyed it so much we ate here twice for dinner.

6 of us Went here for food which was alright, but we waited 2 and a half hours (nearly) for starters and Mains and when the mains did arrived they didn't bring any cutlery after taking away our starters. The service was extremely slow we asked a waiter for water after 15 minutes we asked another waiter for Water and 10 minutes after that 2 jugs of water arrived with no glasses.

Pretty good food, very slow service though that halted it, seemed to feel like we were in a room on our own at times, nobody was around.

Quiet on arrival for early evening meal at about 6:30 pm with a few more people arriving shortly afterwards and a few tables already reserved. Service was okay and food was satisfactory. reasonably priced for an average meal. Free parking directly outside Sixty.

The food here is great. ..and their afternoon tea .. you can't beat. ..

I'm not happy with this hotel. My holidays and our money worthless. No room clean . No fix window cartin. Seriously is nothing there anything like i say what a hotel or what something like special.

We stayed at the Pentire Hotel last week.

Visited here last night, The Bistro seems to have a feel of been fairly new. The food was good, I had traditional cod and chips for around £12, which was good value, specials and other main courses around the same price. Wednesday evening early evening with 15 people in the restaurant , they struggled one waitress and probably one chef, very slow service and waitress never stopped. Good value .

Our waitress Kyra, was always there when you wanted something, but finding time to plant up spring flowers or whatever else needed doing. If I discovered she owned the "Franchise" I wouldn't be surprised

We've eaten here twice this week because of the lovely atmosphere, very friendly and efficient staff and fabulous food . very highly recommended.

Very quiet, out of season evening & the staff (kira) was amazing..So friendly & helped me out loads with her knowledge of the local area.. The fish was cooked perfect too.. I'd recommend it to anyone.

We stayed in Saltwater apartments last week next door to the Pentire Hotel. After a long dog walk we popped into Sixty for a snack. We’ve been coming to Newquay for years and often stay on the Pentire Peninsula but hadn’t been into Sixty before. What’s been done with the restaurant is really stylish and it has a very welcoming feeling.

Had their full afternoon tea with prosecco and really very good. Nice fresh prawn sandwiches, good scones with Rhoda's clotted cream & jam, a cream mousse and a selection of small cakes. Restaurant lacks warmth & character,but staff helpful & friendly.
