What a tasty little gem in sandown. Popped in for lunch during the week and Viv's Jamaican cooking didn't dissapoint! We had jerk chicken and the stewed beef which were both packed full of flavour. Good portion sizes and the rest you can take home. They also do Jamaican patties and a selection of homemade cakes. Try the bread and butter pudding. It's heavily indulgent but you just can't stop eating it! Will definitely recommend and come again 🙂
What a great cafe. Relaxed, cosy atmosphere. Good coffee and cakes. The lunch menu looked good too. It was a real treat to have an excellent pianist playing when we arrived. Lots of art displayed and adverts for upcoming music events - just wished we lived closer.

Amazing food, went down last weekend to try the new menu and wow what lovely flavours and service by Richard. Fantastic burgers as well! will certainly be coming back
As Aussies we are critical of coffee as our culture is addicted to it. Here we had a coffee we were amazingly thrilled with. It was a REAL COFFEE with flavour, depth, texture and truly made with love thank you Emma for creating the best coffee we have had in the entirety of the UK xx
The staff are amazing, so friendly and accommodating. We went with my elderly, disabled parents, and they couldn’t do enough for us. The home-made cakes are to die for and the view. I could’ve sat there for ever.
This hotel ticked all our requirements. We were on a whistle stop tour of the East side of the island and wanted a place to have a quick stay overnight. We had a nice room and an incredibly comfortable bed. Lovely and clean as well. The breakfast was superb . We would highly recommend. The location was perfect for the town and the beach less than 5 minutes walk away ( via some steps or a lift)
Absolute top place to eat chill and chat. The owners a Mum and Daughter are just lovely the food is amazing and it feels like you are visiting an old friend. Dogs are more than welcome and my bichon Oscar loved it
Doggy menu too. Thank you both see you next year Alison Ian and Oscar.
We all loved the food we ate here in this relaxing, chilled out vegan restaurant with lovely service. Nothing to fault! These were our last moments spent on the island and I realised that Ryde was very fortunate to have such a place. If I lived locally I’d be there a lot for coffee and cake which they also do. Vegans and non vegans, do try them out!
Being a local I did not stay at the hotel but I thought I'd try the food as eating out in Newport is limited to say the least (unless you like pizza/pasta, there are at least 4 of these). I fancied traditional pub food which today is a scarce as all the pubs seem to be in the Gordon Ramsey mode, posh food, very little of it and expensive. The Wheatsheaf’s menu included real pub classics including Steak and Ale pie, Pork Belly, Steak and Chips, Lamb Shank to name a few.
For starter’s I opted for the chilli prawns, a generous portion, cooked perfect and presented shell off which saves all that peeling and messy fingers! Starters are all priced at £5.00. I followed this with a perfectly cooked 8oz sirloin steak (med-rare) with lovely crispy chips and a blue cheese sauce accompanied by a nice crisp fresh salad, (which was not just a bowl of leaves like in most places). Although the chips were frozen they were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, perfect, I almost mistook them for the latest fad (3 times cooked chips). The chef must have a trick up his sleeve. The steak was cooked perfect. A field mushroom would have been a nice touch. Here's the good bit, all main dishes are only £10, if you fancy steak you do pay a £4.00 supplement which is fair.
Even though I was stuffed I could not resist the homemade Rhubarb Crumble with cream. I managed to eat ¾ of it. Again, all the desserts were priced at £5.00.
All I can say is although this pub has had a bad reputation for food in the past this is certainly not the case now, it’s really worth giving it a try.

Event happens once a month and normally books up very fast so you have to be quick. Wear loose fitting clothes and pace yourself because there's lots to come. We take our pudding home to good to leave behind.😁
Lovely atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and one lovely man even came to unlock the gates for me to retrieve my car when they were closed. Thanks again :)
7 different, delicious flavours (personal favourite was the sour cherry🍒 😋) to choose from, £2.50 for a big filled palm tree cup and £1.50 for a refill!
Lovely, helpful staff, beautiful location with seating and views over the beach.
You can hire them for private functions, too!
