The best restaurants in Kirtlington Cherwell South East

I had heard good things about V-Giyan, and after trying it, I can see why. The thoughtful packaging and delicious food really stood out. It’s clear the team is passionate about bringing something unique to the vegan scene. I’m looking forward to becoming a regular customer and supporting their efforts.

Pub with no beer. Limited choice. Did not try food. Just one group there at 1630 on a Friday. Very very quiet. Service was prompt given we were the only people there.

Went for Saturday breakfast. Loved everything about it. Great menu, great quality, brilliant service, lovely atmosphere. We’ll be back.

Lovely place to stop for breakfast when travelling around the country. Good parking. Great ambiance and plenty of staff. The service is good and food is great, we can recommend the scrambed eggs and porridge.

The Dashwood Hotel and those who run it are a disaster - and it could be so good. Firstly, communication was a disaster when we had to contact them, well in advance of our stay, due to unforeseen circumstances. We were unable to go and knowing that they could have helped by re-opening the booking and finding replacement as the Blenheim Palace Game fair was on that weekend! We found someone to take our place last minute. Remote check in a nightmare and no ph no for contact! Room: no rail in wardrobe and only 2 tea bags and 2 milk pods for a 3 night stay! Lots of little niggley things when it could have been so nice. Unwelcoming

Managed to drop in for the Sunday carvery today after our walk and it was delicious!! Very generous meat servings and all the trimmings available were quality - including crispy potatoes! May be advisable to book as we were only a party of 2 and went in towards the end of the carvery time - but food was still hot, fresh and tasty! Lovely landlord too

Staff is friendly and setting is lovely. That’s the positive. However… and it pains me to say as I really wanted this to be special as it was my mums 80th birthday…. Things went wrong from the start. The wrong bottle of champagne was brought out and opened - never mind we thought let’s just have this one instead - but it was also warm and quite frankly warm champagne just isn’t nice. Then the food, what can I say, very average, certainly not gastro. For £25 I would expect an outstanding roast. Starters weren’t great either. And the glasses of wine we ordered to go with mains arrived after we had finished eating. We didn’t bother ordering dessert. Overall very very disappointed. Service was slow even though the restaurant was pretty empty for a Sunday lunch which is an indication of its popularity I guess. The end.

We stopped off at the Jolly Boatman as we were staying at the Blenheim lodge site (from Preston). What a brilliant place, the atmosphere, friendliness of the young chap that served us. He deserves a lot of praise with his hard work and his very friendly manner. The food was brilliant and great portions. Thanks The Jolly Boatman

Excellent location for Blenheim. Friendly welcome couldn't do enough for us. Plain but comfortable room, clean, comfortable and warm. Dinner was very nice, lovely and hot, service was excellent. Breakfast was excellent. Great staff. Would definitely recommend.

We had a really enjoyable breakfast and the staff were friendly. The beans were lush and the eggs a golden yellow. Hope to visit again soon.

A nice setting and the food was satisfactory although a little overpriced for the quality in comparison to similar venues. However, we were very disappointed with the level of service we received. Our first round of drinks orders was forgotten and we had to go up to the bar and order our own throughout the meal. When the meal arrived, it was incorrect, and the response we received was ‘well, this is what I was told’. Furthermore, we asked for additional cauliflower cheese for the vegetable roast, which didn’t come. When we asked for it we were informed that this had already sold out, despite it being taken in our order. As a result, we were informed that our food would be discounted, in which the bill was reduced from £96 to £94. This included a 12.5% service charge, which was still included in the price, despite the poor service we had received throughout. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Manageress does a great job at this local but also a destination pub. Don't miss the Cribbage night. Or the Live Folk Music played by fabulously talented musicians, on the First Monday of the month. Fresh baked pizza from the smart van outside

Excellent, very welcoming. Excellent food and the beer is not bad either. Maybe a new owner but very well managed. Food was quickly on the table. Staff very friendly and competent.
