Quaint tea rooms full of character offering lunch snack, cake & scones by the canal. I enjoyed a delicious cheese scone served with chutney & butter. This was very tasty but what made the occasion was the genuine care & attention from the staff. I asked for a hot chocolate ( I’m quite fussy about it being hot) the staff listened and were accommodating.

Lovely little tea room by the canal. It was quite busy when we visited on a Sunday lunchtime but the staff were attentive and helpful. The bacon brie sandwich was top quality. Generous amount of Brie and thick cut bacon The cream tea came with two scones, jam and clotted cream was a good portion for the price. Lots of seating outside Negatives Parking may be a problem as they have limited parking spaces dedicated to the the tea room.

Having read the negative reviews on this site I was a bit reluctant to go to Annie's today, but I shouldn't have been! It was well set up to deal with Covid safety, we placed our order and sat outside to wait for it to come to the collection point. The one way system indoors was very clear and worked well. The coffee was hot and definitely not instant. The gazebo sheltered us from a brief shower. I still think the prices are too high but this was a special treat after the long lockdown. The cheese scones were as good as ever and the staff very helpful. The cafe was fairly quiet. I don't know if the service would have been as good if they were very busy.

I went to Annie’s yesterday to have lunch with a friend. There were plenty of tables available both undercover and in the sunshine.I chose an egg mayonnaise sandwich which was delicious but unfortunately the side salad was gritty and hadn’t been washed so was inedible. This is not the first time I have had this problem at Annie’s. Had the gent who was working not been chatting to another customer I would’ve let him know. It’s a shame because everything else was faultless but there’s no excuse for not washing the salad leaves, especially during the Covid pandemic.

They refused to allow us to take away a bottle of water without giving all our details but allowed an English young man to take away food without signing in. When we raised this the male server and female manager became intimidating. This is the second time we have visited as we have friends stopping there. The first time when it was take away only we did not have to sign in but our food (a cold scone) took a very long time to arrive and our coffees were Americanos instead of cappuccinos and were served with minimal milk, without lids and after people who arrived after us.

What an awful experience we gave up and left. When we arrived we went to the tea rooms and followed the markings on the floor and checked in via the track and trace. There was a some other people being served and some others behind them. There was no signs on the door regarding number of people or what to do. While following the floor markings and the next in the line to be seen a man came and poked his head in the door with his mask below his nose. He rather poorly asked us to move so other people could be served making it sound like we where there not allowed to order. Once confirming what he meant we moved just outside the entrance. He walked away making the comment of “Covid is still around you know” when we have been fully following the rules and wearing are masks properly!Once we where being served we where told after ordering that the very limited menu there was no coronation chicken. We chose something differed. I ordered a BLT and they said they had no Mayo! Which I assume also meant they would have no Egg Mayo either! After making our choices we went to pay. The card machine froze and my payment wouldn’t go through. The lady was trying to fix the machine. She asked me to tap again and I pointed out the screen didn’t have the payment on. The rude man from the beginning decided to but in at this point and rudely asked me if I had another card (this wasn’t the issue) at this point even though prepping drinks and food his mask was under his chin. They asked if I could pay in cash by which point we where so fed up of their rude service that we said to forget the order and left.I would recommend you go into Kidlington to The butchers and get a freshly made baguette instead for a fraction of the price of their food and much better service.

We love visiting Annie’s and it’s one of our favourite places to visit. It’s in a beautiful location on the Oxford Canal with stunning scenery. There are lots of local walks you can go from the area and is a perfect stop point to have a break and refresh before continuing on your way. There is also a car park here too. The staff are always smiling and welcoming. There is seating outside, along with an area to wash your hands. And toilets for customers too. My daughter loves the home made chocolate cake here, whilst myself and partner enjoy the sandwiches which are freshly made. If you are in the area this the place to go for tea and cake- or sandwiches in our case.

We spotted the menus after we had ordered, which consisted of a bacon sandwich x 2, cheese scone x 1 and tea for two. This cost just under £19, which we found expensive for the sandwich, was just a sandwich, with maybe 2 slices of bacon and nothing else. It said you would get 2 cups each out of a teapot, I would agree if they were just over half full. The 2 guys did try and make an effort to be friendly, but the lady who served us just gave us the impression she wasn't interested.Thinking the prices charged were for the location, and most definitely not value for money.Would we visit again, No.

Today (12th of August) I visited Annie’s for a coffee and was appalled by the lazy attitude of the employees. All of the younger girls were stood on their phones, not paying attention to any of the customers awaiting attention. All except one girl (blonde hair, tied up) who seemed to be running the whole cafe by herself. She was constantly busy and barely stood still. Even the older workers remained loitering around the kitchen- not setting a good example. The food here is lovely and so are the drinks but the customer service is very poor. It’s such a shame to see one young girl work so hard whilst others couldn’t care less. Watching this made me feel uncomfortable and is definitely something that needs to be worked on in order for customers to enjoy the atmosphere here at Annie’s.

I have visited this tearoom in the past and I have always been happy with the service. However, I won't be visiting again after my lunch there last Friday. I asked for a jacket potato and I was told curtly it was too early (we were there just after 11.30am). So I opted instead for a basic sandwich (the 'cottage' type, as opposed to the doorstop 'boater' which is obviously more expensive) and I asked if I could have coronation chicken as a filling. This wasn't on the menu but was offered as a filling for a jacket potato on the 'specials' board. Now the 'cottage' style sandwiches are in the £5-6 range on the menu, so I was expecting to pay something similar. I had a bottle of sparkling water to accompany the sandwich and that was it. I didn't think to check the total amount at the till when I paid by card. The sandwich arrived and it was average - just 4 very small triangles of bread and a bowl of coleslaw. When I got home I happened to check my bank statement and I found I had paid £10 for the lunch. When I called the tearoom to query the amount the woman I spoke to told me the sandwich was £8.25!!!!!!!! I don't expect to pay such a ridiculous amount for a bog standard sandwich, in a basic tearoom with very little table service (the staff offered no glass to go with my bottle of water, and you had to collect your own cutlery). I can see other recent reviews are not favourable. Such as shame as this used to be a little gem of a place. Hopefully the owners can make the necessary changes to bring back old custom.

Surely there should be some signs up outside the tea room or even on the large menu black board above the counter to make this clear? At least serve the customers whom were in the queue before 1400 hrs??

Always a pleasure to visit. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Great location near the canal and walking paths. Reasonable prices.

We hired the private room and had a lovely family gathering. Thanks for all the yummy food and great service. The gluten free afternoon tea was amazing. Highly recommend.

Sat outside as it was such a lovely day; but we had to move inside when our food arrived as the bees pretty much wanted a bite of our food. Would be good for them to have a few citronella things to keep them away.

This cafe is exemplary. The tea is good (in a proper pot that doesn’t drip). The menu is simple but everything is done really well and priced fairly. In a sandwich good bread is essential. The bread here is super fresh and delicious. (Beware - boater sandwich is huge!) It’s always busy, which is a great sign in a cafe. The setting is also lovely. The cakes are all home made and delicious. Not fancy, not special, just simply done well.

Stopped here for refreshments after a lovely walk along the canal and were very pleased to find it dog friendly. We only had a snack but that was good and the staff and overall feel of the cafe were great!! We enjoyed our visit.

I had scrambled eggs on toast with salmon and a cup of coffee. The scrambled eggs could've been warmer however the meal was tasty and the cup of coffee was good. My friend had a full English breakfast and had no complaints (in fact, he enjoyed it very much). The tea room is very cozy, prices are reasonable and the surroundings are beautiful. I will certainly return as I didn't get to taste the cakes and they looked delicious.

My son and I visited for the first time today and were very impressed. A beautiful setting, lovely decor and artwork, very friendly staff (despite being very busy) and the best cream tea EVER! We struggled to finish it but were beaten.

Been in a few times and the beer has improved. More choice of lager and better maintained which is a good thing if you're in just for a drink. Most people aren't in just for a drink, it's an eaters pub. The food is good but expensive. Had shoulder of lamb, three pints of lager and a desert and it came to £50. No complaints about any of it, service was good but that's what to expect.

Went for Sunday lunch and had a great experience all round. Food was great and value for money, as was the service from the staff. We even got a friendly wave from chef as we left after our meal. Will definitely be going here again.

Smartened up, good choice of beers, and the kids and grandparents love eating here.

It was a quiet Tuesday night late October but we were made very welcome. Menu is targeted and typical pub grub. It was well cooked and presented. Don't expect 'fine dining' but do enjoy a pleaant evening.
