Lovely, friendly and attentive staff at The Black Bull. Such a gorgeous setting and really tastefully decorated. The food and drink did not disappoint, just a shame we didn’t have more time to spend soaking up the ambience. Despite being quite a distance to us we would certainly like to return, well worth the journey.

What a friendly pub, staff were terrific, the drinks well priced and all good. Visited most nights over a week and can only praise the ambiance and cosiness of the place plus the special offers on Ales. Superb leather Chesterfield chairs in the corner added to the pleasure and are a must try. Fellow patrons were also friendly and relaxed, if you want the country pub feeling in this area this place ticks all the boxes.

Great service, great venue, but the Roast pork dinner was terrible, I needed a steak knife to cut the pork, so the waitress got me the usually pub like beef, I kept the steak knife to use on the dry plastic like coating on the roast potatoes .I did get 10% off for the bad pork, but myself and husband walked out of there very disappointed in the food, won't be going back. Disappointed in ourselves also for eating the meals but we had walked round the zoo for three and a half hours, so you can imagine we were ready to eat. Very Very Poor pub grub, in a beautiful setting .

This is my favourite restaurant when visiting Chester food and service is always spot on. I was disappointed with our lunch time meal yesterday because the portion size's were lot smaller than usual, dishes where topped up with extra salad and rice. Prices have gone up. 10% service charge was added to the bill. We left feeling slightly cheated.

Lunchtime for two We treated ourselves to the sirloin sharer for two , which was served medium rare, sliced and served with carrots, potato wedges and gravy As it takes 45 minutes to prepare, we shared Focaccia bread and olives Plus a few soft drinks, this was in total fifty quid each. Bear in mind the usual lunchtime menu is twenty five and the sharer has a fifteen quid extra. I left full and wanting to try more Located in the heart of Didsbury Village in a charming converted building that retains a lot of its original features, set across a few rooms, with a kitchen in the back. I like the calm atmosphere and the very attentive wait staff. The adjacent car park is very conveniently located
