Our first time going here tonight, we went for the early bird menu after I finished work. Lots of choice. Food was lovely and fresh and hot. Ali and Imran were great really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We will be back.

We used to love coming here as the service is fantastic from Collette & Paula the food went down hill very fast so we stopped going but loved the girls here so we returned yesterday Collette was fantastic as always but the food was disgusting I had burger & chips which was a cheap frozen burnt burger no bacon no dirty chips I couldn’t eat it my husband ordered the Fish & Chips large it was minuscule and the fish was a rectangular frozen fish with 10 super greasy chips. The kitchen is filthy & smells of old burnt fat which we could all taste. AVOID this restaurant it’s over priced and disgusting!

Nice atmosphere. There is limited outdoor seating but it is nice with good headlamps. The good is very nice, a good selection of small plates ideal to share with friends. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit for drinks and small plates.

Great food, friendly and efficient staff

I'd recommend Govenors House to anyone. It's such a warm place with superb food & service. The fish & chips I had were delicious as well as the rather large Sauvignon Blanc. Our hostess Natalie was great - friendly, knowledgeable & attentive. I'll be back.

No small prints on the menu. Order the set menu for two meals. Then i was told at the bar I have to sit inside to eat the meal as the deal is for not outside. I ask what is the reason for this on the phone next day, the reason is because they are short staffed. Then the phone rang again from the aviator explaining no the staff member did not stay they are short staffed. All my phone calls are recorded. The staff on my phone recordings said they are short staff and can't walk a extra 2 meters outside to bring your food. Pure laziness and bad attitude on the phone. Won't be bringing my friends or family here. My first visit as well with family. We all left after one drink.

The staff here are wonderful , so friendly and attentive. Food is delicious, would definitely recommend giving here a try!

Sunday lunch sharing platter is off the scale. Amazing. Came to visit family from Cornwall had a great meal great staff all round 10 out of 10 from me.

Went in for dinner and ordered chicken satay. Chicken arrived and was raw ! Starter was replaced with an apology but when the bill arrived it wasn't adjusted for their mistake and still a 10% service charge was added. I will never eat here again because of this, really poor customer service.

The interior and the service was very promising, but having ordered two different types of paella, we were a bit disappointed. As a result, even very small portions remained unfinished. I really hope that pizza and pasta are better there. Updated: Hello! Thank you for your response. I definitely ordered the seafood paella — I remember it clearly. My companion also had a paella, possibly with mushrooms. We both ordered these dishes directly from the men u, so they were definitely available at the time of our visit on April 13, 2025. The atmosphere and service were excellent, but unfortunately, the paella itself didn’t quite meet our expectations. Thank you for taking the time to follow up on guest feedback!

Went on Wednesday steak night. Food really good. Service excellent- shout out to Ethan our server - really attentive and friendly. Been here a few times and always find the staff warm, welcoming and helpful.

Massively overpriced, inattentive staff. Didn't eat there, so I can't judge the food but the cocktails were expensive and very low effort. £15 for a glass of fruit juice without even a slice of lemon or a brolly, I might have not felt like I'd been robbed had they at least tried to make it look nice

Highly recommend. Emma and her team are friendly and welcoming. They always go above and beyond. The food is good and reasonably priced. They are dog friendly with an adorable doggie menu. The layout is great for groups, couple and sole. You don't feel it's too crowded even when busy. There is a lovely range of games you can borrow to play whilst there which is lovely with friends or kids. There are also a good range of events on throughout the month. The food menu is good and the staff are always friendly and helpful. A must if you are looking for a relaxing evening.
