A very good meal for our party of 8 last Saturday, with very attentive and friendly service from Olivia and Lola. We all enjoyed it.

We booked part of the room to have my son’s christening party. The food and the service were all excellent no issues whatsoever.

The food is excellent specially the shrimp cocktail is a must try, the atmosphere was very relaxing.staffs are very friendly, pricing was competitive, highly recommended.definately I will go again.

We’ve been here twice recently and we were amazed at the high quality of the food and the service. We had a meal yesterday afternoon, served by Lola & Marnie. They were FABULOUS! So attentive and always making sure we had everything we needed. Exactly how you like to be treated when dining out. They made the whole thing exceptional.

We had a large party of 22 diners and the staff especially Natalie provided amazing service and food. This made our Boxing Day experience extra special

Been today for a family meal , the food was great from starters to the mains , well presented and tasted delicious, the waitress Polly was lovely . We will be back next Sunday for sure . Compliments to the chef believe he was called keiran

I recently visited the Governor’s House and was absolutely blown away by the quality of the food. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The menu had an excellent variety, catering to all tastes, and everything we tried exceeded expectations. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and a cozy pub experience. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

We had our family Christmas Day lunch here today, all 8 of us had a great time, everything from the service, food and effort put in was fantastic, we couldn’t of asked for a better experience and we’d love pass out our gratitude to the whole team, especially Mark who looked after us brilliantly. 👏👏👏

We had lunch here in December and it was a very pleasant surprise as I am afraid my expectations of chain pubs is usually low. The fish cakes all looked and tasted home made and were topped by a perfectly cooked poached egg - the sign that there is someone who really knows how to cook in the kitchen. Not always a given these days! Service was excellent- highly efficient but unobtrusive for three old friends who wanted a long natter without interruption. Cannot recommend more highly.

We decided to have a dinner and were served brilliantly by Polly, Lola and others. We also slept over and decided to have a breakfast as the dinner was so good for the price.

Went for a lovely meal with my Grandson. Excellent service from Jo and the team. Will definitely be back!

Me and my partner recently came for Sunday lunch. It was lovely food and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a nice friendly atmosphere and the service we had was by far the best service. Thank you to Karen for making us feel welcome. She was very friendly and made our visit nice and relaxed. We will definitely be coming back.

I was very last minute organising a reception for a christening at the end of October. Thankfully we were able to book here. The space was good, the buffet was amazing (there were comments from everyone saying how much they enjoyed it) and all the staff were lovely. I would highly recommend here. Steve the barista behind the bar! Visited the governors this week as we usually do for a coffee and a cake to be greeted by Steve the friendly bar man. Not only does he make the best coffees in south Manchester, but he’s always ready to delight with a story from his latest camping adventure! We will be back soon to sample more of his delicious flat whites!!

I really wanted to like this place and give it a good review because the place itself and the service was great. The problem for me was the food and in particular the "award winning" beef pie. It certainly couldn't have been the same pie I was served because I had to play two games with it... First it was find the beef... because there was so little of it. Possibly three pieces! Secondly it was mop the gravy soup up with the hard pastry because the large pie was filled with pretty tasteless gravy. Frankly it's close to if not the worst beef pie I've ever had. Since we all had the pie and felt the same I can't comment on the other food, except to say the chips were good!

Went to The Governors House on Sunday, and was amazed with the quality of food and hats to the chef Keiran. My kids were asking when we could go again this morning. The service was just as good. See you guys next Sunday for more.

Came on a busy Friday night after work / school. Lovely table in the corner. Great menu selection and we were served by Hollie, who is just one of those people who are meant to be in customer service. Efficient, pleasant, knowledgeable and so kind to my 6 year old daughter "sausage" food was very tasty, good portion sizes.

Popped in quick on the way past for a random pudding. Nice desserts - want to go back for the main course!

Had a lovely Sunday roast, with there being 11 of us we were worried about timings but there wants anything to worry about, excellent service from Jo and Mark, Brilliant food

We were served by Natalie, who was a ray of freaking sunshine right from the get-go. The service was rapid, the food was excellent and all the staff were lovely. It's a very long way out of my way (I live in central Manchester) but based on this experience I 100% would go again. My friend thought the very same :)

The family visited for a birthday meal for my ninety four year old mother in law on the 13/10/24. The food was excellent and the service from Olivia and Karen was outstanding, thank you all for a wonderful afternoon.

Been going for a few years now and they did a great job with the refurbishment . The pint and a snack for under £10 before 5pm is a great deal and the food is very good . The bar staff always helpful, asked them to out a certain game on , turn the volume up and there always happy to help . Very cosy pub with nice decor through out .

We only came for food and drink so unable to comment on the rooms. The food was lovely, no complaints, staff were friendly and helpful especially Nat and Mark who waited on our table.

This has become one of your favourite pubs to visit and eat. The food is traditional pub grub, but well cooked and tasty. What sets it apart is the service. On this occasion we were served by the fabulous Evan. He was quick and efficient and put the 'cherry on the cake ' of our visit.

Good food, and nice place to eat - Evan was really great and always on hand.

Booked another pub for a birthday meal for my Grandaughter as she wanted a Sunday lunch, unfortunately they had run out completely. We rang the Governors hoping they could help at such short notice and they came up trumps with a couple of dinners which they booked over the phone there and then. When we arrived we found a lovely pub with a very nice Ambience. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We were served quickly and the food was very nice and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and we will be returning for another family meal soon.

I came back from London to visit my parents and we went for Sunday lunch. The food was amazing- great quality and a decent serving. The prices are very reasonable and much cheaper than the local competitor and better. Mark was very attentive and so welcoming. We had a great time and will be visiting again

Lovely pub but Sunday dinner was dreadful, my husband ordered the Roast beef was just a mass of fat on a plate Yorkshire pudding was so big just covering up a load of cold frozen veg & pot of cold gravy, he did tell the waitress , who was very nice & she took it back & he ordered fish n chips a lot better. My wife had the Roast turkey which was no better , she ate some of it only as she was hungry. Maybe it’s just a pub just to have a drink but definitely would not order food again.

We had a meal here and it was absolutely delicious, reasonably priced too. The staff were lovely, it has a warm atmosphere and dogs are welcome. We will definitely be back.

Never had a problem with any restaurants apart from this. Absolutely disgusting service and how they spoke to us, food wasn’t nice, disappointing. Wouldn’t come again.

Small room but adequate for a short two night stay. Service in the dining area was on the slow side but to be fair, we got a few apologies and they'd had some staffing issues during our stay; the discounted breakfast in acknowledgement was a welcome touch

I had a sunday roast.Unfortunatly myvvegetables were so hard I was unable to put my fork in them. My "one" parsnip was like a piece of wood The waitress was very kind and took it away and refunded me. She even gave me a free dessert. Only the children were happy with their meals. My eldest son who is an excellent cook said. "Why would you come out and pay for a meal which you could cook better at home." Also he said " If they don't change the chef the place would close down!" For a sunday lunch on Father's Day it was slmost empty!!

Steve and his team have made our stay here brilliant. We held my mother-in-laws birthday party here. We also stayed for 3 nights over a weekend. Steve’s team here, from bar staff to waiting team, housekeepers and chefs have made it such a memorable event that we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend everything about The Governor’s House to our friends and family. The rooms were large, clean and the bed comfortable! The food is exceptionally good, from the buffet for the part, to our breakfasts and lunches we had here.

A well stocked bar with decent hand pulled pints of real ale along with friendly staff and a really welcoming atmosphere. Only visited for a few pints so can't comment on the rooms.

Scott has been so attentive throughout our visit!! Visited for a night out in the city centre, really impressed with the rooms, clean and had everything you would have forgotten in there (hairdryers, irons etc) which of course i did forget! The food was lovely we had dinner and breakfast the next morning. Will definitely be returning!

Went in for dinner on a bank holiday, our first time having food here in a while and we were blown away. All the staff were lovely and very attentive, Olivia who looked after us was great at checking in on us. The food is very reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Great little find for a morning breakfast. Staff all very friendly. Food of a good standard for the price. Had a good chat outside with Scott, thoroughly nice guy. Has a passion for the venue which comes through in the service.

Good place to stay close to airport. Plenty of parking. Easy walk to other pubs and restaurants nearby and by station. Clean and unworn rooms.

Great pub for drinkers but definitely can’t recommend for Sunday lunch. Just had turkey dinner and the food was tepid. Pigs in blankets were anaemic and not at all edible. Two good slices of turkey and a Yorkshire pudding, hiding the fact there were next to no vegetables underneath. 9 peas, 3 slices of carrots, one broccoli spear, two dried cauliflower florets and gravy like water. Terrible. All the Sunday dinners on our table were the same. All other meals (burgers and pies) looked lovely.

We go to the Governers regularly and it’s always great service and atmosphere. Went last night for a meal for 5 and had a really nice experience - the food was top quality and reasonably price, highly recommend the beef rib bourguignon but we also had chicken katsu, gammon, scampi and risotto which everyone enjoyed - but what really made the evening was our server Evan! He was so friendly, funny and was patient with us when we weren’t ready to order. He looked rushed off his feet as I think he said he’s usually on bar service, but he was still so welcoming and kind. Thank you Evan for a great evening!

Bar serive , is great service Chicken toasted sandwich is lovely , With chips on side , we also ordered other side dishes ... smashed mash , salad and sweet potato chips .. Currently in my local area I find its the best for food and drink in Cheadle hulme .. a bar menu, and a restaurant menu fully packed when I went today ... food hot from the kitchen 😋 ...

I frequent this pub on nights out for a reason! there is a great atmosphere and the staff are always lovely and well accommodating. a young man called evan served me last time with a smile and was prompt with our order despite a queue. professional and friendly service always. could not recommend enough for a pint (or five!) and some good pub grub. will be returning for years to come!

Food is really average. Thursday steak deal is not worth the money and over cooked. Meagre portions so you don't want to be too hungry. Should have had the burger

We popped in for a drink early on Friday evening. A very welcoming pub with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good choice of draught beer and a wide variety of alcohol free drinks too. Have been here several times and have never been disappointed. Have been in again today for lunch. Roast Beef was lovely and the kids meals were a good size and quality. Great value for money.

Food and service was absolutely delightful, we had burger and the chicken focaccia bread! We will be back. Edit.. we returned the next day for the Sunday roast. The beef was very chewy, frozen veg, roast potatoes were very pale and not crispy, frozen roast parsnips were burnt. I wouldn’t recommend it. I did mention it to the server and was told the beef would be replaced which was ok and I say that lightly. By that point though the rest of the meal was cold anyway. A slight discount would have been more satisfying however we paid and left without a fuss. Sorry 😔 for £15.79 each it was not worth the money.

The perfect place to be when you have an early flight out of Manchester airport. Comfortable, clean rooms. Welcoming, efficient and friendly staff. Great food and bar options. We've been a few times now and it never disappoints.

Need to review opening times it clearly states 11. We was rudely told you weren’t open after stating that it says everywhere you open at 11 we were very bluntly told “it’s wrong”. Extremely poor customer service and won’t be returning. A shame as we always use to come regularly. ( we have also arrived at this time before and have always been aloud to sit down and have a drink)
