Lovely meal served by Olivia friendly, professional, we will come back. Had a meal only did not stay.

Stayed for a couple of nights. Pleasant rooms, great food and friendly service.

I recently celebrated a milestone 40th birthday at The Governors house , and I have to commend our server, Mark, for making the evening truly special. From the moment we arrived, he was incredibly attentive and welcoming. Mark went above and beyond to ensure that our group was comfortable and well taken care of. He offered great suggestions from the menu, and each recommendation was spot-on, delighting our taste buds. Especially the sharing platter , definitely be having that again. Throughout the night, he regularly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, without being intrusive. What stood out the most was genuine enthusiasm and willingness to celebrate with us. Thanks to Mark , our experience was not just enjoyable but memorable. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, I highly recommend this pub, Its cozy warming and overall very enjoyable pub

Spacious with lots of zone types to sit with a good choice of food and drinks.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Governor's House Pub, and I must say, Kieran, the barman, made my experience truly exceptional. From the moment I walked in, his warm and friendly demeanor made me feel right at home.Kieran's knowledge of the drink menu is impressive. He recommended a fantastic local ale that I thoroughly enjoyed.What stood out the most was Kieran's attentiveness and genuine care for the customers. He took the time to chat with everyone, ensuring that we were all having a great time. His ability to remember regulars' names and drink preferences is a testament to his dedication and passion for his job.Overall, Kieran's excellent service, combined with his approachable and kind nature, makes The Governor's House Pub a must-visit. Went for Sunday lunch. Really nice bar/dining area. Nice relaxed atmosphere, child and dog friendly. Staff were absolutely lovely couldn't do more if they tried. It was a little quiet when we got there and despite the Food being fantastic, the chef Jon came out to check everything was OK with our meal. Excellent food, reasonable price for the quality will definitely be going back.

Came in after a sweaty game of five a side for some post match rehydration. Kieran on the bar was very friendly and pours a great pint of Guinness!

We’ve really enjoyed our 3 night stay and would definitely use this hotel to come back and visit. The staff, food and hospitality are fantastic and we felt most welcome. If I had to be picky it would be the short midweek breakfast window 7-9am, however we managed to get ourselves together each morning for the fabulous choices on offer!

Fantastic food at reasonable prices. We went on Steak Thursday when the sirloin was half price. It was cooked perfectly. The service was friendly, quick and efficient.

I met with a friend who was staying at the Governors. She'd said how nice the room they were staying in was and emphasised how clean her room was. We had a meal one evening and both had sirloin steak which was perfectly cooked. Steak Thursday also meant it was half price. The service from Mark and another young man was spot on. Friendly, efficient, professional and attentive. Highly recommended.

Nice pub,but could barely believe it when they charged me £2.50 for a blackcurrant and soda. I've been to places where it ranges from 20p. because they only charge for a dash of blackcurrant to a pound,but that was ridiculous. Even places in Manchester don't have the nerve to charge that much!

We had a work retirement party for around 30 people and Olivia and the staff were excellent and look after us all evening.

Visited the governors this Friday for a family meal and was really impressed with the quality of the food. We were served by Marnie who was super smiley and helpful with everything we needed. The bar has a great selection of beers and reasonably priced. I’d highly recommend the governors for both food and a drink. I will definitely be back again soon

Wow amazing food and service, dog friendly too

Attractive, comfortable pub with a nice atmosphere and a couple of decent cask ales available. About a dozen of us met up for drinks for a friend's birthday. Unfortunately the prices are very expensive. Over £5 for a pint of bitter and even £2-85 just for a blackcurrant and soda! Shocking.

I went for a meal with my other half and Auntie in January 2025. My Aunties Hunters chicken was very dry and the burger on my cheese and bacon burger was near to cremation. Very disappointed. We won’t be going back in a hurry.

A very good meal for our party of 8 last Saturday, with very attentive and friendly service from Olivia and Lola. We all enjoyed it.

We booked part of the room to have my son’s christening party. The food and the service were all excellent no issues whatsoever.

The food is excellent specially the shrimp cocktail is a must try, the atmosphere was very relaxing.staffs are very friendly, pricing was competitive, highly recommended.definately I will go again.

We’ve been here twice recently and we were amazed at the high quality of the food and the service. We had a meal yesterday afternoon, served by Lola & Marnie. They were FABULOUS! So attentive and always making sure we had everything we needed. Exactly how you like to be treated when dining out. They made the whole thing exceptional.

Been today for a family meal , the food was great from starters to the mains , well presented and tasted delicious, the waitress Polly was lovely . We will be back next Sunday for sure . Compliments to the chef believe he was called keiran

Christmas Dinner at the Governor's with the Family - Best Christmas present for me ever ! So welcoming warm friendly joyous atmosphere Table for 10 in quiet side of pub lol Food absolutely fabulous Kids all loved theirs Steak cooked to perfection Best of all the Staff were absolutely lovely First time eating there and first Christmas dinner I haven't had to cook in 44 years We are TOTALLY coming back next year and also for any family occasions or romantic dinnners xxx

I recently visited the Governor’s House and was absolutely blown away by the quality of the food. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The menu had an excellent variety, catering to all tastes, and everything we tried exceeded expectations. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and a cozy pub experience. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

We had our family Christmas Day lunch here today, all 8 of us had a great time, everything from the service, food and effort put in was fantastic, we couldn’t of asked for a better experience and we’d love pass out our gratitude to the whole team, especially Mark who looked after us brilliantly. 👏👏👏

Fantastic Christmas family meal. Pub beautifully decorated with great festive atmosphere. Polly served 11 of us plus a baby with humour and charm. The food was delicious and all very reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

We had lunch here in December and it was a very pleasant surprise as I am afraid my expectations of chain pubs is usually low. The fish cakes all looked and tasted home made and were topped by a perfectly cooked poached egg - the sign that there is someone who really knows how to cook in the kitchen. Not always a given these days! Service was excellent- highly efficient but unobtrusive for three old friends who wanted a long natter without interruption. Cannot recommend more highly.

We decided to have a dinner and were served brilliantly by Polly, Lola and others. We also slept over and decided to have a breakfast as the dinner was so good for the price.

Went for a lovely meal with my Grandson. Excellent service from Jo and the team. Will definitely be back!

Me and my partner recently came for Sunday lunch. It was lovely food and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a nice friendly atmosphere and the service we had was by far the best service. Thank you to Karen for making us feel welcome. She was very friendly and made our visit nice and relaxed. We will definitely be coming back.

I was very last minute organising a reception for a christening at the end of October. Thankfully we were able to book here. The space was good, the buffet was amazing (there were comments from everyone saying how much they enjoyed it) and all the staff were lovely. I would highly recommend here. Steve the barista behind the bar! Visited the governors this week as we usually do for a coffee and a cake to be greeted by Steve the friendly bar man. Not only does he make the best coffees in south Manchester, but he’s always ready to delight with a story from his latest camping adventure! We will be back soon to sample more of his delicious flat whites!!

I really wanted to like this place and give it a good review because the place itself and the service was great. The problem for me was the food and in particular the "award winning" beef pie. It certainly couldn't have been the same pie I was served because I had to play two games with it... First it was find the beef... because there was so little of it. Possibly three pieces! Secondly it was mop the gravy soup up with the hard pastry because the large pie was filled with pretty tasteless gravy. Frankly it's close to if not the worst beef pie I've ever had. Since we all had the pie and felt the same I can't comment on the other food, except to say the chips were good!

Went to The Governors House on Sunday, and was amazed with the quality of food and hats to the chef Keiran. My kids were asking when we could go again this morning. The service was just as good. See you guys next Sunday for more.

Came on a busy Friday night after work / school. Lovely table in the corner. Great menu selection and we were served by Hollie, who is just one of those people who are meant to be in customer service. Efficient, pleasant, knowledgeable and so kind to my 6 year old daughter "sausage" food was very tasty, good portion sizes.

We were served by Natalie, who was a ray of freaking sunshine right from the get-go. The service was rapid, the food was excellent and all the staff were lovely. It's a very long way out of my way (I live in central Manchester) but based on this experience I 100% would go again. My friend thought the very same :)

The family visited for a birthday meal for my ninety four year old mother in law on the 13/10/24. The food was excellent and the service from Olivia and Karen was outstanding, thank you all for a wonderful afternoon.

Been going for a few years now and they did a great job with the refurbishment . The pint and a snack for under £10 before 5pm is a great deal and the food is very good . The bar staff always helpful, asked them to out a certain game on , turn the volume up and there always happy to help . Very cosy pub with nice decor through out .

We only came for food and drink so unable to comment on the rooms. The food was lovely, no complaints, staff were friendly and helpful especially Nat and Mark who waited on our table.

This has become one of your favourite pubs to visit and eat. The food is traditional pub grub, but well cooked and tasty. What sets it apart is the service. On this occasion we were served by the fabulous Evan. He was quick and efficient and put the 'cherry on the cake ' of our visit.

Booked another pub for a birthday meal for my Grandaughter as she wanted a Sunday lunch, unfortunately they had run out completely. We rang the Governors hoping they could help at such short notice and they came up trumps with a couple of dinners which they booked over the phone there and then. When we arrived we found a lovely pub with a very nice Ambience. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We were served quickly and the food was very nice and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and we will be returning for another family meal soon.

I came back from London to visit my parents and we went for Sunday lunch. The food was amazing- great quality and a decent serving. The prices are very reasonable and much cheaper than the local competitor and better. Mark was very attentive and so welcoming. We had a great time and will be visiting again

Lovely pub but Sunday dinner was dreadful, my husband ordered the Roast beef was just a mass of fat on a plate Yorkshire pudding was so big just covering up a load of cold frozen veg & pot of cold gravy, he did tell the waitress , who was very nice & she took it back & he ordered fish n chips a lot better. My wife had the Roast turkey which was no better , she ate some of it only as she was hungry. Maybe it’s just a pub just to have a drink but definitely would not order food again.

We had a meal here and it was absolutely delicious, reasonably priced too. The staff were lovely, it has a warm atmosphere and dogs are welcome. We will definitely be back.
