I've only said average as the staff were OK. The food wasn't up to much for Sunday lunch, beef was tough and gristly and I think the broccoli had just been dug up and not even been cooked. In the restaurant the noise is horrendous and echo y, like the noise you get in the swimming baths. Can hardly hear what your dining companions are saying. My brothers enjoyed their 'pub grub' options but I just wanted to get outta there. Could have complained but would have had to wait for re-order which I wasn't prepared to do as the food service wasn't quick anyway. Wish my Yorkshires had been as big as the ones in the pictures. Tried it & would not go again.

Not all rooms are dog friendly, this isn't stated on website, we had to put our dog back in the car, luckily it wasn't summer time as couldn't leave him in a hot car, food average and it's quite an expensive pub for food and beer, friendly staff, overall not really my kind of pub

Our first visit to The Aviator, a fairly new build, clean, bright and welcoming. The car park was well lit, if a little compact, however a further parking area is under construction. There is outside seating/tables and a children's play area, secure from cars etc. We went for our meal at 5pm. The Aviator has both Pub and Restaurant areas, with plenty of space. A log fire was lit by the staff, adding significantly to the ambiance and feel of the restaurant area we were in. Washroom facilities: For those with limited mobility, the facilities are on the ground floor. For others they were on the first floor, accessed via a staircase. The facilities were clean, well maintained and fully available. On arrival the place was fairly quiet with good seating selection. Access appeared to be good for all users. Service was very good, accurate and fully met our needs. Food was very tasty, with good portion size and choice. All in all, we got what we paid for and throughly enjoyed it. We would definetly go back. 😋

We stopped off here before the firework display across the road, we were received with a friendly smile and promptly served at the bar. We decided on some small plates of food with our drinks, we were served after a short while, the food was excellent, it perfectly suited with our drinks selection. Upon our departure a friendly member of staff thanked us for our visit and said please call again. We were thoroughly pleased with our visit and will definitely be returning soon.

Disappointing, very disappointing. The latte I ordered was lukewarm and flavourless at best, the food was delayed due to issues with sending our order to the kitchen and the meals themselves were bland and overpriced for what they were. For a restaurant in the area it's in it leaves a lot to the imagination.

We booked a large family lunch earlier this week. From the time of booking to the time we left….absolutely no complaints. We had preordered food but there were a few unexpected add ons on the day which were dealt with impeccably. Nothing was too much trouble, flawless, efficient service, excellent food all as pre ordered and they fully accommodated the extras. Special mention to Sarah and Clare….thank you so much, you went above and beyond.

I took my parents here a few months ago and left a lovely review after a lovely meal and service was second to none.. However on our last trip here on tues 22/10/24 our experience was quite different. Considering it wasn't busy the manager who is normally very helpful and accomodating seemed to be in a different mode.. The usual staff weren't present to but one would expect a good service. Parents are elderley and like things done a certain way. This time, not only did they not get the service they come to expect, they didn't get what they asked for... drinks and food.. Didn't seem to matter to them when the question were asked. We left very disappointed. From brilliant to terrible is hard to understand. Not good! If you were thinking of visiting, probably best waiting on a few more reviews

I wanted to unwind at this pub after a long day at work on a Sunday afternoon, me and my boss went into the pub and was immediately discriminated against upon walking in, as we where told that there is no work wear aloud at this pub. Never have we ever been made to feel like we didn't belong somewhere due to being in work gear. The work gear that we wearing was not dirty and as far as I'm aware this goes completely against the equity act 2010, we are not impressed that we where made to feel like we where dirt under someone's shoe and it is safe to say that we will never be coming back here again.

Well, what can I say. Positives: Good sized car park and staff were attentive. The rest of it: I ordered the Steak and Ale Pie which clocked in at a ridiculous price of nigh on £17. The pie filling that should be oozing and glistening was crusted and dry at the sides, obviously flash heated from frozen in a Merrychef. Tasted more of ale than steak. It was just about edible, but not at all enjoyable. Overpriced Wetherspoons fodder at best. The atmosphere of the venue was strange too, the restaurant side was all bunched together, horrible acoustics due to the lack of soft furnishing, not a nice place to be at peak times. All while the pub side was deserted. Poorly thought out. Through its pricing, its swanky decor and its locale: given the experience I had - I felt I'd been lied to. Lower your prices or increase your quality. It's a place for people with too much money and no idea about food. If all you eat at home are M&S microwave meals and don't worry about how much money you're spending, I suppose it's fine. But it's obviously not for the working person with an interest in good food. tl;dr: If you're deaf and have no taste buds or soul for that matter, you'll love this place. If not avoid and go to an independent place nearby. Judging by the punitive, childish and pretentious responses I've seen to other reviews I'm not expecting a constructive reply. Serving naff food is fine if you price it accordingly... just saying guys

Not quite a pub, not quite a restaurant. Odd atmosphere. All hard surfaces, so the dining area had the acoustics of a k-hole. Staff were efficient and swift, as you would wish a medical professional to be. We had the steak pie. it was fine, but also odd. If you like food that's better as an instagram post than a meal, you'll probably enjoy it. This is a JW Lees chain joint so I'm guessing it's probably a central kitchen somewhere that cooks most of this, freezes it, ships it out, and someone's defrosting x number of portions every morning based on the forecasts from head office. Which is fine I suppose, but for £17 for a main course I'd expect something better than an elevated ready meal. Not recommended for ensouled beings. [edited to add this, based on reply from management] Fair cop then, perhaps the pub half is brilliant. I can't comment on that because the choice wasn't made obvious, so we followed the only offer we received, which was to sit in the restaurant. However, if the values of JW Lees include seventeen quid for a slice of thawed out steak pie, eaten while sat in what feels for all the world like an old victorian underground public toilet, then maybe JW Lees values just aren't for me. Or for many other people of a "certain persuasion", judging by the numerous reviews you have which mention being turned away for wearing workwear. Don't worry yourselves: we shan't be bothering you again. I hope the Cheshire Set are spending enough to keep your freezer doors flapping for many years to come :)

We visit the Aviator regularly never have we had bad service until yesterday. It started with the barman not knowing what Rose prosecco was and unable to find anything on the till. The main meal came out quickly and was lovely, desert however took over half an hour when we queried we were told there was a backlog in the kitchen. The waitress cleared empty glasses never asked if we wanted another drink another waitress come over to reset the table again never asked if we wanted another drink. Most staff just standing around polishing cutlery. Eventually got the attention of a waitress who asked for a drink she advised she would be with us in a minute and never returned 🙄. We asked for the bill the same waitress who had left us with no drinks and never returned when she said she would asked if we wanted change!!!!!!! Clearly your way of gaining a tip. I find this extremely rude when you are aware the wait for dessert was long and that you never returned with drinks. Staff seem to have changed we recognised one waitress who is always amazing. Service needs sorting we were not the only ones left sat waiting for an unreasonable amount of time. Had it been busy I may have understood.

The Aviator Pub has certainly made a lasting impression with its delightful ambiance and top-notch service. My recent visit was marked by a culinary experience that stood out in several ways. Food Quality: The highlight of my visit was the roast beef ciabatta. The beef was remarkably tender, embodying a melt-in-the-mouth quality that is often hard to achieve. The accompanying pot of gravy added a rich, flavorful dimension, perfectly complementing the beef. The fries were crispy and evidently fresh, a testament to the kitchen's commitment to quality. Service: The staff at The Aviator were exceptionally accommodating, ensuring that all my needs were met with a smile. Their attentiveness significantly enhanced the dining experience, making me feel well taken care of. Atmosphere: Despite the pub being very busy, the atmosphere remained welcoming and energetic. It's clear that The Aviator is a popular spot, which speaks volumes about its reputation and the satisfaction of its patrons. Overall Experience: The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a vibrant atmosphere makes The Aviator a standout choice. While the busyness might be a minor inconvenience for some, it's a small price to pay for such a delightful experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a hearty meal in a friendly and bustling environment.

It Seems this public house is very selective of their clientele they don't serve anyone wearing workwear I mean I would understand it if they were upto their knees in mud. But to turn a technician away because they are wearing clean workpants is just discriminatory in my opinion. Let's hope the coffe machine doesn't need a repair. And to think 2 generations of my family worked and built planes at woodford aerodrome. Won't be returning to this snobby place

For dessert, I had the lovely Rich Chocolate Brownie with White Chocolate Ice Cream, which contained delicious hidden white chocolate chunks, and drizzled with rich chocolate sauce. Visited with 3 others for luncheon on a Saturday at around noon. Booked as unsure how busy it would be as open from 830am for breakfasts. Booking communication is great . Not busy on our arrival, but filled quickly. Very tasty food , lovely restaurant decor, light, bright relaxing & well designed with a large pleasantly laid out patio area for sunny days. Sadly, this was not one of those 😪. Very friendly , cheerful & attentive staff, excellent service , reasonably priced menu with varied choices , especially liked the bite sized dessert & hot drink options. Three cheese pie was splendiferous!! Also, note worthy was the large side salad I got to replace thick cut chips, on request. Elsewhere my experience is one usually just gets a tiny salad garnish if replacing chips. Higher end JWLees pub, Overall I would recommend it & I will visit again . However, as it is a JWLees brand eatery, it is sadly out of step with other large restaurants/ Pub chains as it does not give a wee thankyou to emergency service staff as it does not give the Bluelight Card Discount. 😱.

No one was eating when we arrived, a group were just paying and leaving. Three more sets of people with children arrived and ordered. All received their food. We had waited almost an hour and we suspected we had been over looked. As the pub wasn't busy we would have expected the staff to come over and explain why we were still waiting. Having never visited this pub before we weren't sure what a usual wait would be for our order. When questioned the staff had to admit our order had not been processed. They offered to expedite the order and give the drinks on the house. This wasn’t an option for us with our SEN daughter. We left without finishing our drinks. We usually favour the Butley Ash and wish we had on this occasion.

Nice venue but very average food and overpriced. Took our grandson there for tea, he had the chicken in a bucket, his chips were cold. We asked for a lemonade for him ( he’s only 6 ) and they brought him a large PINT of lemonade, when I questioned this and said it’s for a child the girl said that’s how it’s comes which is ridiculous as I had a lime and soda which was served in a half pint glass. The two starters two duck spring rolls with a tiny bit of salad garnish and a dip was very overpriced at £8.99 each. Certainly not value for money. Also the young waiter was clearing our table when we hadn’t finished. We won’t be returning.

Absolutely love this place, every time we come from Arizona to Manchester we have as many dinners here as we can fit in. The owner/Landlord is so awesome and runs a great place. Everything on the menu is delicious, the fish and chips are amazing, And the desserts are to die for. If you are anywhere close to the aviator, you need to stop in and have a great experience.

Very disappointed, the food was lukewarm, I sent the soup back as it wasn’t great, the second course was marginally better, but still not hot enough.

The Sunday lunch was delicious, the turkey was cooked to perfection. The bottomless Yorkshire puddings and gravy are an added bonus. The staff are, as always, extremely friendly, efficient and attentive. There’s a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit!

Having been to the Aviator for 3 Sunday lunches and loved each one I went with a friend mid week and had the pitchers which itself was delicious. But the crackling oh dear serve the dish without it. A cooked seperately” piece of polystyrene concoction with absolutely no taste. It also reminded me of a rice biscuit, please do traditional crackling.

We were in a party of just over 30 people. Good job we had booked as I think there was only spare seat left. The food and staff were excellent. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to going again.

Very nicely fitted out new establishment, plenty of separate areas and tables nicely spaced in the main dining area. Was busy for a Monday lunch time. Two good menus to choose from, food was nice, not exceptional but then it’s not at exceptional prices. Plenty of very pleasant staff who were very friendly. Overall a good experience and would certainly go again.

Poor service, food stopped because it was awful. Atmosphere is drowned out by the poor music selection.
