Lovely place and brilliant food

A relatively new pub built to serve the ever expanding estate that continues to be built on the site of the former Woodford Aerodrome. Attractive and comfortable with some excellent pictures from when AVRO built aircraft here. The 4 of us all had enjoyable meals. It's a JW Lees pub so it's got cask ales though only 2 on tap and over priced at £5 pint.

Enjoyed my visit here. Food was very tasty and service was excellent.

Visited on a Wednesday lunchtime and it was very busy so it's a really good idea to book. It is dog friendly but you're limited to the bar if you're with your four legged friend. You also can't reserve a table in the bar which is a similar nuisance. Although the staff will take your order at the table in the restaurant, if you're in the bar you have to order at the bar but they will bring the food to the table. We took my 89 year old mother who's in a wheelchair. There were no issues with access to the building and there is an accessible toilet. Staff were great and the food was very good.

Lovely place and extremely pleasant staff but unfortunately one meal had to go back as was lukewarm and the Eton mess was all cream and not much else! Disappointed

Lovely food, great service and nice atmosphere. We all had the set menu which was great value for money. We were not disappointed and will be back.

Unwelcoming, rude staff and horribly long waiting time for poor quality food. No idea why you'd bother coming here when you could take a day trip to the local sewers.

Small portion size and food only warm when brought to table. Lovely environment, very light and comfortable room. Friendly staff. Will try again, at another time of day.

Had a lovely evening meal with my partner and his mum. The staff were brilliant, on the ball and friendly. The food was very nice - I had cod in beer batter and chips, partner had fillet steak (can be a risky move but he said it was very good and well cooked) and his mum had the steak and ale pie. Didn't feel you were sat on top of other diners and nicely spaced out and weren't rushed out the door when we finished. When visiting the area again, will definitely stop by.

We went for Sunday Lunch, had the fabulous shared platter, bottomless gravy and Yorkies - delicious! Service was great. As it was spur of moment decision we were in the bar, we moved from one table as there was a very boisterous dog just arriving next to us. In the “snug” area by the fireplace it was quieter but there were still two dogs around. I am not a dog fan, and don’t like to eat with them. It would be helpful to have it clearly marked where the dog free areas are. The food was so good - we will be back

My partner and I had the two course menu, good value, not big portions but adequate.

Fabulous Friday with friends! Warm and friendly welcome, very attentive staff, the lunch menu is a great price and good portions; the turkey and stuffing pie was delicious. Followed by homemade apple crumble, in a cosy, clean environment. Nothing but smiles all round from staff and customers. Exceptionally busy & it’s easy to see why - keep up the fantastic work.

Scruffy and impersonal. Was not even greeted with any formality and pleasantries. Very unwelcoming and made me feel like an imposter by as I wanted to look for some friends. The only person who was nice was the lady taking orders for the table and she had too many tables to cover. First and last visit.

Very freindly staff and service

From walking through the door, the service was spot on. we were welcomed by Sarah, Izzy and Jack looked after us at the table. Service was smooth, and the food was amazing. My partner ordered the steak rare and was cooked to perfection. Amazing evening. Will be back.

This was my first visit and it didn’t disappoint. The pub is beautiful inside and spotlessly clean. The menu is really varied with some great choices and can highly recommend the 3 cheese pie! The staff very good service top notch will definitely return

I’ve visited twice in the last week. Firstly, for coffee on Wednesday 24th but it wasn’t open on time so I went over to the garden centre instead as did several others waiting outside. When I popped in on the way back to ask what time they normally open, the guy was adamant it was 11.30. I said we had waited for a while and knocked on but it was locked up. He said it was our loss that we ended up having to go to the garden centre?? Secondly, I asked to be moved away from the table we had booked because it was by the door on Sunday 28th. It was cold therefore cold food. I asked for 1 by the window. They refused saying tables were booked ‘back to back’?? That table was not occupied for over an hour and half later. We sat in the pub instead. Very unhelpful which is a shame cos it’s our local. YOU WEREN'T OPEN AT 11.30. Both doors were locked until 11.40?

Having been coming to the aviator since it opened 2 years ago, initially whilst our house was being built and frequented more so over the last year living on the redrow development. We love coming here as it has and continues to be consistently brilliant, the food, drink and and most of all the great staff members having stayed the same throughout this time, notably Ian, the ‘Sarah’s, Jack and Adrian along with the other staff members they provide a warm welcome and great service. A very well managed pub / restaurant with great customers - always five stars. Colin

Was looking for a place to take good friends for a lovely lunch. My friend had been here before and recommended it. Booked the day before and no problem getting a table. Plenty parking. Not too far to walk into building. Shown to table straight away and menus arrived a few moments later. Good choice and lunch menu very good value. We had the cream of pea soup, lamb scrumpets and prawn cocktail. All lovely. Good, large dish of prawns. For main the men had the pie, delicious. I had the chicken chasseur, full of flavour. My friend had the sea bass. It looked lovely and she assured me was cooked beautifully. A large piece of fish. We had to have dessert and had the crumble, creme brûlée and the Parkin. All delicious. All in all could find no fault with this place. Good food, well priced, lovely building, lovely buzz of conversation, but no too noisy that you had to shout to be heard across the table. Will definitely return soon.

The best pub in the area by far. The staff is amazing, friendly and professional. The food is so tasty; our favourite the Sunday roast. Highly recommended ;)

Saturday night dinner plans changed, we had heard about the aviator and wasn’t disappointed. From now on we will be making it a regular Saturday night dining experience. Staff amazing and food too, sea bass risotto and steaks 20% off what not to like..

Still the best Sunday lunch in Manchester, the whole family agree.. Yorkshire pudding towers and gallons of gravy, keep it up guys..

Good food and nice friendly staff. My last couple of visits have been some what spoiled by a scriking baby (luck of the draw but I don't think toddlers and babies should be allowed in pubs.

Friends had cheese and onion pie, stacked burger I had roast chicken. Chicken moist and tender with crispy bacon veg cheesy mash and bread pudding all very tasty.

Very nice pub restaurant. Lunchtime menu was very reasonably priced with a great choice of food. Well worth a visit.

Recommended to me by a friend, I booked to celebrate my partner's birthday, and so glad I did!! His ribeye steak was cooked to perfection, my roast beef was tender and full if flavour, proper gravy, and one of the nicest Yorkshire puds served in Lancashire. Not a bad recommendation from a true Yorkshire man, who even enjoyed the Manchester craft beer! The service was superb, the service charge not included (customer choice). A chorus of 'happy birthday' from staff who all new my partner's name really made the occasion. I find it difficult to believe this restaurant is part of a chain! A huge pat on the back to all the team.

Very nice. Can't quite recall but I had the 2 course lunch menu, son in law had main menu fish and chips, grandson had fish fingers and chips. So. Was actually fish goujons and very nice he loved them. Fish and chips, fish was large and cooked well , son in law enjoyed. I was surprised at size and quality of my lunch menu option. Had some Manchester beer was good. Perhaps a little over priced, but I think that's due to location. I have heard some less favourable comments from people but they are vegetarian, l'm not in position to comment

My partner and I visited on my birthday on New Yesrs Eve and I wish to thank all the staff there for making it a wonderful experience from start to finish. Both the food and the service were excellent. I can highly recommend The Aviator, its food, beer and all the staff.

Our favourite place to eat for me and my wife. We have just moved away from there but we will still be coming back.

Friendly enough place with a few beers

Food is overpriced, for what you actually get I think it is served in small quantities in my opinion. Great for finger food and relaxing more than having a dining experience

I have visited this pub a couple of times and have always been very impressed. I've frequented a few JW Lees pubs and this is by far the most impressive. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and attentive and the food and service are excellent.

Great pub, lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff. We took advantage of the lunchtime deal and had 3 courses. It was a small menu to pick from admittedly but the food was all excellent for a very reasonable price. The coffee was great too.

I was amazed that this place was part of a chain. Food was amazing and well priced, staff were friendly and attentive, decor is lovely, especially if you get a table by the fire. Can’t wait to go back again with my family

Great visit, it’s the staff that make it so special, we only called in for snacks on a Sunday lunch and were treated so well and they accommodated every need. We’ll definitely come back for a full meal.

Excellent service and great value for money especially the Sunday roast. We ordered a roast turkey, a roast beef and a piri piri burger.

Came for a Sunday roast amd it was one of the most delicious roasts I've had .. the meat off my lamb shank was so soft and succulent .. I brought my friend and she had the honey roast ham which she says was very tasty and soft.. the baked cauliflower cheese was outstanding .. loved the fact we could keep asking for extra gravy .. staff were super friendly and made sure we were well looked after

We have eaten at the Aviator a few times as a family and have never been disappointed. Sunday lunch is a favourite of ours but we have sampled the meals on other evenings. Great food and lovely staff. Will see you all again very soon.

Food is typical chain pub food, which is probably down to H/O tbf ! Staff very friendly, helpful and courteous, giving good service. It was really about meeting friends for us, and ideal for this purpose. Good atmosphere and feel to the place. Probably built to service new estate that surrounds it, but that is not the staff's fault........

I was looking for a mid point between Sheffield and North Wales to meet with friends and The Aviator could not be more perfect. Lovely cosy lunch, fabulous food, friendly staff who were so accommodating, ample parking and the premises were all very clean and tidy. most expensive snack ever had. my familey went for lunch. most meals around £15 so you expect a full plate meal for that price i had steak pie and chips mushy peas ther was so few chips never had a miserable amount like that before....
