One of the oldest boozers in Kirkby is The Peacock Pub ,a pub I always enjoy dropping into as I live only around the corner from it. A traditional pub ,multi roomed ,pubby decor and furnishings ,big screens to enjoy the sport and lots of seating both inside and outside ,a lovely pub to unwind in. Dropped in here on a Thursday afternoon ,ordered guinness ,poured in the correct manner even allowing time for the all important settle ,my twin brother Ste and I chilled out and enjoyed our pints of the black stuff. My guinness was really good ,thick, creamy and most importantly served freezing cold ,a proper pint of guinness ,in my opinion the best guinness in Kirkby. We stayed here for two pints each before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a very pleasant time. The Peacock Pub is easy to locate along Bigdale Drive. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, midday till 11pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Shopping is a pain to me ,I have to do it but I don't enjoy it ,it bores me but sometimes it's not such a bore, walking around Kirkby Market I purchased some great cheeses to go with some amazing craft beers I had purchased on a holiday over the Christmas period in Cologne & Dusseldorf ,after getting several cheeses I stopped by Fuel Stop Cafe in the market ,ordered a coffee that was served steaming hot and chilled out. Coffee served in here was spot on ,tasty, strong and great value for money, its hardly surprising that this cafe is so popular with coffee of this quality, its easy to locate in Kirkby Market in Kirkby Town Centre and well worth checking out if you're in the area.

The Premiere pub on Market Square in the Town Centre is a local pub that offer a well priced drinks range and is well worth a visit if your in Kirkby Town Centre. This pub is housed in a former bank and its a pub that's been here for a long time. It's a proper local's pub with a pool table and its also got a darts board and it's a great pub to watch live sport. We visited early in the afternoon and it was busy which is how me and my twin like pubs and bars as the atmosphere's better. When we went here we had a couple of Guinness each and a Carling. The beers were superb as was the price. It's not a fancy pub and it's a pub that's not to everyone's taste but if you like pub's that are proper local boozers then its the place for you. (This is my fifth review of the Premiere). Opening Hours. Monday-Sunday-09.00-23.00. Public Transport. Bus Stop. Kirkby Town Centre Bus Stop.

Turned up at 4.45 to find doors locked, customers still sat inside, and the staff cleaning but completely ignoring the people at the door trying to get in. No signage up explaining why the door was locked.

You're spoilt for choice for breakfast stops in Knowsley Industrial Estate but this place is definitely worth putting high on your list...providing you're happy with your own company. Don't expect much in the way of a welcome from the staff. Even when the owner put in a brief appearance - apparently with the goal of using the "F" word as many times as possible in earshot of my ten year old daughter within a three minute period - he didn't take any trouble to greet us or acknowledge our presence in any way, which was odd as we were the only customers in the place at the time. I could winge on for some hours about the apathetic indifference of the staff and their inability to ask basic questions such as "how would you like your eggs cooked" but that would put you off, and when all is said and done, although the prices are a little on the high side, there is no denying the quality and quantity of food, especially on the large breakfast @ £5 including two slices of toast. Keep away from the £6 mix and match 8 item breakfast as it works out appallingly bad value compared to the 11 item big breakfast, and stress repeatedly to the staff how you want your eggs - e.g. poached rather than fried - and then make sure you take some good company with you as you'll be left entirely to your own devices for the duration of your visit. But the food is very good indeed. Give it a try...with a friend or a good book!
