The best restaurants in Whitehall Blackburn with Darwen North West

Ordered a full breakfast with a few alterations. Was spot on defo will return as should everyone else , 👍 everything was cooked just as I like .

My partner and I had booked a 2 night stay at the Astley Hotel 18th and 19th January 2025. We booked it because on the Website the Hotel and surroundings looked lovely and relaxing and my partner and I were looking for a relaxing place as my partner has prostate cancer and needed some R & R. Unfortunately the executive room we booked was DREADFUL! As soon as we got to the room, my partner ran a bath, the water that came out was a dirty yellow colour and the jacuzzi bath didn't work either! We immediately called reception and asked for a manager. The restaurant manager came to our room and we explained the issues, he said the boiler had broken down 2 days previous and it had been fixed but the rust was coming out in the water, that was why it was a dirty yellow colour! And he said it would remain like that for a few days but he said the water was safe to wash in! He then added all the jacuzzi baths in the Hotel didn't work! We told the restaurant manager we were still not happy, so he said he would speak to another Manager ( who was in a meeting) within 1/2 hr. So then we put the tv on and there was no signal, so I contacted reception again! A young girl came to the room, she said where our room was situated it couldn't get a signal, so she said we could have a different room. We looked at the other room but the room was smaller and the bed was a lot smaller and the bathroom was basic! My partner and I had paid for an executive room and this room certainly wasn't to that standard!! The manager had not come back to us so we rang reception again and spoke to the restaurant manager and asked that we have a full refund as we wanted to leave. He said we could only have a refund for 1 night even though we were not using the room! After some arguing on the phone ( the Manager refused to come to our room) he agreed to give us a full refund. We got our bags and went to the reception and the receptionist did not know how to do a refund and someone else had to do the refund for her! What a COMPLETE SHAMBLES! WE WILL NEVER COME TO THIS HOTEL AGAIN DUE TO POOR SERVICE POOR FACILITIES AND POORLY TRAINED STAFF!!

As traditional as a pub gets, massive building with open fires, great selection of beers- Hawkstone lager on tap for £5, if that’s not a reason to visit I don’t know what is. Nice people, ideal stopping place for a refreshment after a walk round Darwen Moor with the dog. Few pubs like this now, so get in and enjoy it!

This remains to be a lovely setting and place to treat yourself. We have been used to impeccable standards and I fully expected to be reviewing this at 4, if not 5 stars. We had booked for our anniversary and my wife had added drinks on arrival as a surprise, which was undone by the staff not being aware of this. The restaurant main area had a very large family party (30 or so people) and we hadn’t been made aware of this during our confirmation call - as we may have asked to be placed in a quieter area. The food was excellent and hot, although quite swift in service, so we felt somewhat rushed. It’s a shame that this didn’t love up to expectations, and our experience of our numerous previous visits.

Went to the whitehall hotel for a meal with four friends and the food was excellent as was the service nothing was to much trouble the Steak I had was one of the best I've ever had and the others all said that their food was excellent would recommend the whitehall hotel in Darwen

This was the first time we had returned to the hotel, since we got married there 15 years ago.. We had the same room and took advantage of the gin experience and ate there as well. Firstly the staff are amazing. Blake leads a fantastic team, every single member cannot do enough for you. Our room was perfect and so big. The meal at dinner was unbelievable, very high quality at a very competitive price. The high light was the gin experience. Blake is so knowledgeable and engaging.. We actually made our own gin that we took home with us… The bar was well stocked with local beers and obvs house gin… Breakfast again was perfect. We will deffo be back and not leave it so long next time…

Always love the chips and sausages from here. Puts a smile on both me and my gf's face!
