My husband and I had our wedding here about 2 months ago and it was absolutely perfect. From the first enquiry to the day of the wedding, we were looked after by Blake and his team so incredibly well. They took care of everything for us so the day before and the day of the wedding we had no stress or worry about decorations, food, timings etc they looked after every tiny detail and it really did make all the difference. Our wedding guests were catered for amazingly in the hotel and were so impressed with the quality of the food and service as well. I couldn't recommend this venue more highly for a wedding, the staff cannot do enough for you and Blake is an absolute Superstar. Thankyou all so much for the most incredible day x

We booked a 2 night stay at short notice and was surprised that they could accommodate us along with our dog. Lottie whom I spoke with was very nice and pleasant. We arrived early evening and the young girl on the reception was lovely even though she was rushed off her feet , serving meals , reception , bar service......no other staff!!!! We got to our room and o.m.g we were in the black hole of calcutta, certainly not what I was expecting . My other half said it will do us as only 2 nights ( I was ready for checking out there and then ) Well....the first thing the lights didn't work, the girl at reception gave us a lamp and offered to give us another room . Granted we said no need, it was ok , I wish we had moved . The mattress was horrendous, it was so old the springs had gone and you disappeared into the centre of it and so uncomfortable. There was a 2seater bed settee in the room , so I pulled that out to sleep on and immediately disgusted with the state of the foam cushions. The following morning we asked if we could get another mattress or change rooms and was told no as that they only had 2 rooms for people with dogs ( I think this was the owner we spoke to ) and all the mattresses were the same ....soft !!!!! Breakfast was ok..ish . We chose not to have an evening meal that evening and ate out, this says it all !!! The service from the staff was very good and they were very pleasant, couldn't fault them . If you have a dog then don't book here , it felt as if we were 2nd class and got the room accordingly. Yes the hotel website looks good and lovely rooms , its not what you get when you have a dog with you. It's a 3 star hotel...yes in the main part of the hotel but in the annexe at the side of the hotel where we were allocated 2 star at the most . I myself was in the hospitality trade in Edinburgh, I'm afraid this hotel doesn't come close.

This is a really friendly place to stay, the staff are so welcoming and helpful. A nice room (no view but quiet) with a ginormous bathroom! Food excellent, gin amazing! The gin experience is definitely not to be missed, and while your very own gin distills there is a huge 5* sharing platter to tuck into!

Tastefully repurposed (As Spoons often do). From a former galleried chapel to a thriving pub. Definitely a busy hub in the centre of Darwen. Fab fish n' chips. And other pub favourites. Beer a plenty, plus every tipple known to man. Highly recommended ๐
