Really good. We visited mid-week (Wednesday) and took advantage of the early bird menu. Service was great, really friendly staff. Food was brilliant and the restaurant was surprisingly busy with most tables full. We took our baby, and the staff were super accommodating.

Brilliant food and service without fail.

Excellent food, excellent service. The service was really good, despite the place being really busy. The 2 young ladies that served us were friendly and efficient. The food was really hot and very tasty. Best chinese/Cantonese by a country mile.

Lovely atmosphere and staff, Kira was especially helpful (girl with bright hair) ☺️

The food was first class along with the service. The room was full but the staff and management Cope with the requirements of all the customers. I go on a regular basis and I can't fault anything.

Always loved this place, been coming with my grandparents since I was a kid and it’s now a pleasure to take my children. Food is very good never had a bad meal, staff are always really friendly, yes the prices are a little higher than other Chinese restaurants but I would rather pay a little extra and get a top notch meal, keep up the good work and look forward to seeing you again soon

Not been for a while so kind of forgot how good it really is . It’s always nice to be remembered when you return but I’m not just talking about the owners but by the staff who are always on top of there game and best of all ultra friendly whilst remaining professional ! Great location ! Every where is spotless and the most important thing the Food is excellent ! Well done guys it’s a pleasure writing this review pity I couldn’t give you a six stars

Great food and really nice staff highly recommend

A busy Saturday night but the owners and staff greet you warmly and look after you. Our party of four all went for the banquet although I'm veggie so my options were a little more limited. Nevertheless everyone agrees the food was superb. Mid price range so those on a budget might wish to take note. Attention to detail was superb, the glasses of fruit cider were served with ice and strawberries, a nice touch. Will definitely return and no hesitation in recommending this place.

The staff were pleasant and polite but the food was very disappointing the crispy share plater starter, containing spring rolls that I’ve never seen there like had a consistency nearer the filling from a mince pie with gravy, chicken satay drowned in peanut curry, pickled cabbage, spare ribs, crispy wantons, crispy seaweed, prawn toast. For main nice crispy chilli beef, sweet and sour king prawn disgusting curried Singapore fried rice and an unusual chicken chow mien plus drinks of 1 pint of lime lemonade 2 pints of sun lik 1 1/2 pint soda water 1 glass of white wine don’t think it was worth anywhere near £150 paid for it Not eating in a cold restaurant

Went this evening to celebrate numerous birthdays after several people recommended- staff were lovely but the food was something else, not sure what fill was in the spring rolls but it was not nice and was brown & sloppy The chicken satay was more like overcooked curried skewers and not edible When it came to the mains the sweet and sour was supposed to be deep fried batter filling but was not, the chow mein looked like a deconstructed dish again not edible- the worst was the rice - it was so spicy and curried -made us think they were hiding yesterdays waste my son took one bite of both and said are we going and he never turns down food - think it was a bit expensive for food we didn’t eat

Food was OK and the atmosphere/ staff pleasant. However, the evening was tarnished by the fact we had to pay an additional £80 as a result of our 17 month old daughter accidentally knocking over and breaking what was described to us as being a "family heirloom", which was sat on windowsill no more than 2 feet off the ground. I feel a little aggrieved by this given the manager knew we had children with us and sat us right next to the window and without providing any sort of warning over the sentimental value of said ornament. In hindsight, I wouldn't have paid the additional £80 requested on top of the already quite expensive meal. The ornament shouldn't have been there in the first place if it held held such value, nor should we have been sat within 10 inches of it if the manager felt there was any sort of risk to it. If I'd have seen it, I'd have asked to move to one of the many other vacant tables myself. Or asked for the ornament to be moved. Instead, the manager has opted to sit us there anyway, with us bearing all of the risk. Neither myself nor many others who I tell about this will return/go to this restaurant as a result.

At about 8pm my car broke down on Bolton road just outside this beautiful restaurant. I had no reservation and the managers Graham and Gigi were very welcoming and understanding about my situation. I ordered chicken and sweet corn soup which was delicious followed by their popular chicken dish with fried rice. The waiter and waitress service was first class and friendly. Being solo too they went the extra mile by socialising with me. The food presentation has to be given five stars too. After the delicious generous serving portions I decided to go for a chocolate fudge cake which was very good. After my meal I was told by the RAC it would be midnight. I wasn't aware but the restaurant closed at 9pm however both managers allowed me to stay till midnight to wait for my breakdown cover. They chatted with me and enabled me to keep warm as the weather was horrendous outside. This establishment go above and beyond for their customers and I will be returning soon. A Great Restaurant One of the best Chinese meals I have eaten. Every course was well cooked and the different individual flavours within each dish could be tasted. The service was 1st class even with every table in the restaurant being occupied, With everyone enjoying themselves in a great atmosphere. Highly recommend

Gluten free menu really good & accommodating. Although did find a wheat noodle in my gluten free noodles once, so wouldn’t go if your fully coeliac! I have returned since several times

Ordered some ‘Hong Kong style roast duck’ to take-away along with some sides.. main issue was the duck, if I didn’t know it was already duck it would have been hard to identify what the meat actually was.. as it was dry, flavourless, rubbery, chewy and quite frankly inedible & got thrown away after a mouthful. The sides were egg fried rice & noodles which were ok. Very disappointed & wouldn’t return or recommend!

Food is excellent, fast service and being served by a robot called Georgina was futuristic, and I got a wink 😜

As a man growing up near China Town Manchester and eating fantastic food a little disappointed to be honest

Visited this Chinese due to their gluten free options which is great. Awesome service making sure the food was completely gluten free for my partner. The food is on the expensive side which we knew in advance however, we’re slightly let down by the salt & pepper chicken and chips which were bland and soggy. Chow-mein was nice and would recommend.

Had much better from my local takeaway , in my opinion overpriced, not great called at McDonald's on way home , won't be going again, not sure where how they seem to get good reviews from , sorry ocean Palace, friendly staff though

Came here last night with my husband and daughter and we really enjoyed it. My daughter loved the chicken wings to start and we had the vegetarian platter to start. We are not veggies but fancied a change and it were great, full of different flavours and textures. Really appreciated them checking are mains as we ordered meat. We all really enjoyed the food, wasn't rushed at all and the dining room is lovely. Young staff but they all did well. Usually stay away from Chinese food as we always find it to salty and struggle to sleep after but this wasn't and slept well. Thankyou for a nice evening, will definitely visit again. See you soon.

Early Sunday evening , friendly greeting from the owners and freshly prepared very good food. No need to travel to Manchester with this quality on the doorstep.

3rd time I've been here a bit out of the way but the food is gorgeous well worth a trip

We came in a party of 9. When we arrived in the car park no attempt had been made to clear the snow and ice. It was a dangerous walk to get to the entrance. Once in side the restaurant was nicely decorated and looked clean. Sad to say the food was a big disappointment. The platters did not look good and tasted like they looked. Similarly with the mains and very bland. A large dose of soy sauce was required. The cost of the meals was excessive the platters double the price in similar restaurants and 30% more on the mains. Average food at inflated prices with 4 Food hygiene rating.

Average food, London prices, restaurant freezing, skinny portions. Would not go again unless they make it more reasonable for the quality of food and portion size. Had to order more rice! Cheapest main £16.50 plus £2 rice or £5 salt and pepper chips. Seems expensive for average Chinese food. Better options elsewhere. Seem to be losing repeat business and I know others not going back because of the cost.

Great food. Without doubt the best Chinese food I’ve had. Writing as not an aficionado of the cuisine, I’d definitely go back. Well priced too. Definitely good value for money given the quality and taste of the food

My first visit (it was my birthday and took my eldest son and his fiance). From start to finish it was lovely. The food was very good; we opted for the house banquet with an extra starter (squid) and loved every dish, cooked well and presented well. But the stars of the show were the staff. even though the restaurant was full, the service was brilliant: friendly, and helpful staff, not rushed, not late, just right! Thank you so much Ocean Palace. It was a fine and memorable evening. (Loved the robot waitress too - it's a "she" I was told!). I noticed that some reviewers think the prices are high. The wine was a little expensive at £23 a bottle, but the food prices were fine, and, for the quality, good value.

Had our usual of house crispy combination and a main with rice and one with noodles. Partner had a pint shandy and I had lime and soda. The bill came to £75.40!! Whoa….. never paid that before and I didn’t even have wine…..unless we got charged for someone else’s?! Don’t think we will be coming again seeing as I had better Chinese food elsewhere at a much lower price…..and including a large glass of wine Our food was not quite as substantial or good as it had been previously either…..

Me and the misses have been wanting to go for a while and we finally went and we were jot dissapointed! Incredibly food and when we go back we are for sure getting the lobster!

Been going to this restaurant for absolutely donkeys years and although we do love the food we feel that the prices are far too high and this will certainly prevent our return or recommendation to friends or family. We paid £25 for a main of S&P jumbo king prawns… although these are large - we only received 4! And no rice, noodles etc included… these had to be bought separately. It ends up being very expensive! We are in darwen, not Manchester City centre and prices should represent this - unfortunately otherwise a lovely restaurant will lose clientele that they have had for years. Put the prices back down… Please!

First time back after the pandemic, so it's been a couple of years. Just as good as ever, friendly helpful staff, great food all at a reasonable price.

Fabulous food...good service, not cheap, but worth every penny! We will be returning again. (The Early Bird menu has long since finished, but you do currently you get £5 voucher off your next meal is you spend over £50 - voucher valid for 1 months)

Got a takeaway from there last Monday. It was outstanding. Rang got there in 15 minutes. Very friendly staff. The food was still warm when I got home and was absolutely delicious the best I have ever tasted. Will dine in there soon. Strongly recommend visiting.

I ordered three items for my son and he couldn't eat them as they were so spicy tfor example one was a salt and pepper dish but it was full of chillies and then my main meal was a satay dish and again couldn't eat it as it was full of chillies, they never asked if anything was OK and we had to pay £95 for the privilege never again my local takeaway is better

Had my 60th birthday meal at Ocean Palace last night. From the time we first booked it through to the meal itself I can't speak too highly of the excellent food and service. You made my night very memorable and enjoyable and I can't wait for the next time we have a meal there. Special thanks in particular go to Gigi for all her hard work.

Fabulous place, hadn't been for a number of years. New modern decor is great, staff so attentive and food was outstanding. Will not leave it do long to go back and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Lovely place and friendly staff but quite pricey. Limited table time to an hour and a half although it was ample.

Expensive rubbish food either slimy or tuff as leather the platters were the best bit but not the chicken satay as it was so tuff and over Cooked. And with a hygiene rating of 1 this is so bad we will not be returning to this place better food from the chippy The staff were really nice and very attentive that's why got extra star

First time eating here even though we only live a 10 minute drive away.. We were recommended to visit by friends who say it is the best Chinese restaurant outside Chinatown in Manchester, and we have to say we agree. Crispy beef in chili and garlic is all you need to know, best I've ever tasted!

Another visit to our favourite Cantonese restaurant. Had the Emperors Banquet with Katsu Chicken and Sweet and Sour King Prawn as mains. It was delicious as usual and the curry was a pleasant change. Lovely to see Gigi and Graham again. Had lots of chats.

This little gem is hidden away on the edge of Darwen. There is ample amounts of parking, the venue is very clean, the staff are professional and the food is fresh and absolutely amazing. I highly recommended you book a table and sample this authentic cuisine

Meh. Literally everything apart from the rice was just deep fried. Very expensive for what it is. Meal for 2, coke and beer was in the region of £60. I doubt I'll be back.

No matter if youre sitting in or getting takeaway, Ocean Palace can always be counted on for brilliant food in generous portions. Been coming here since I was a kid and it's probably my favourite place to get food ever.

Lovely food and service. Never disappointed. This time we sat next to a bunch of lads swearing and talking dirty. Thats not what I want when I dine out. But usually spot on.

My family have been going there for over 25 years. We went again last night, still fantastic.

First time visit and the food was lovely, bbq ribs and chicken and sweetcorn soup is the best I've ever tasted. First chips I've had that remained hot to the end, not stone cold in a blink of an eye, good service and nice setting

4th & 5th visit, decided to introduce my grandson to OP, he is only four but he loved it as his grandparents do. 4th visit was excellent, 5th visit, just watch your filet steak, this time it was very grisly overall very good service, food hot and on time, do I recommend = definitely My favourite dishes are crispy lemon chicken and filet steak Cantonese

Ordered tonight for my mum's 60th and was utterly disappointed. The duck was too tough, and the plum sauce we ordered was practically vinegar. Both the chips and salt and pepper chips were somehow soggy and dry at the same time which made them unpleasant to eat and they were tasteless (the portion size wasn't great either). The satay chicken was bland too, with there being far too much oil in the tray. The fried rice was barely fried and was lacking soy sauce so it was flavourless, wouldn't have wanted to see what the steamed rice was like honestly. The only positives were the seaweed (which was delicious) and the spare ribs which were quite tasty. It's a shame that this was a bad experience as she was excited to go and had been saying how good it was in the past, so maybe it was an off day, but we won't be going again.

Recently refurbished, extremely stylishly done,very classy welcoming place. Staff are always very friendly and food was first rate, my husband had the seabass in a ginger sauce,he said it was the nicest he's had. Hygiene and covid precautions are excellent. Can't recommend this place enough.
