absolutely the worst food i have ever had in my life! thats not chinese thats dog food. infact i would not even give that food to a dog. DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY

So after reading the reviews, I decided to go and get a takeaway from here. Chicken chowmein and dry pork ribs. I also want for fried banana fritter. What could go wrong. The ribs, usually red in colour, lacked any colour or flavour. I ate them and they were tasteless. The banana fritters were not crispy, just soggy. Eaten due to not eating the main course below. The Chow Mein consisted of 2 containers. One had dry crispy noodles, and the other had a broth of chicken and vegetables. No bean sprouts and chicken covered with soy sauce. I could not eat it. Disgusting. Should have tried somewhere else. Would never return. Sorry as the lady at the front was quite friendly. One final thing, I asked for chopsticks, they only had plastic forks.

Black inside the so called chicken balls which looked more like popcorn size.

Simply the best Chinese in town hands down. The food is amazing and the staff really can't do enough for you! We've been loads and is always great.

I had the pleasure of going to Man Lee Chinese restaurant last night with family had an awesome time Mandy the owner is an excellent host and really made us feel at home lovely people her son is so polite and easy going really nice food and drink thank you for a lovely evening x

I've not been here for donkeys years. It hasn't changed. Very dated and grubby looking. Not at all inviting. Smelt musty. While taking our order she chose to go and answer the phone. Enough said. However, the food was delicious even though served somewhat haphazardly from steel roasting trays. Reminded me of Julie Walters and the 'soup' sketch. Not a complimentary prawn cracker in sight that are free with takeaway service if you spend over £18. We three spend £65 between us. Overall, overpriced.

Arrived to a warm and friendly greeting. The food was excellent (spring rolls starter, salt and pepper chicken in batter with boiled rice main). For a first time the I could not fault it. Will be going back.

We had the salt and pepper punchy box. It was excellent everything was so freshly cooked and clearly used too quality ingredients. The best Chinese we've had. High recommended.

I personally prefer the salt and pepper ribs from Man Lee than anywhere else . I like the curry sauce, this is my preference.

So disappointed, got the 10inch munchy box - chips undercooked and still raw and covered in grease, the chicken balls were the size of a pea, the wings had no seasoning, luckily I ordered some soft noodles and I just ate the rice soft noodles and the curry sauce. Everything else went in the bin so so disappointed 17 pound 50 is deffo not worth it. I won't be ordering again. The only positive I can give was the delivery time was quick.

Enjoyed food from here a couple of years ago. On that basis we decided to go for the takeaway option, as it had recently reopened. The delivery was quick, but unfortunately that’s where the joy ended. We spent over £60, which isn’t massive but having said that, the quality just wasn’t there. The chips were okay, the chicken and beef chow mein where very bland and it was difficult to distinguish between the 2! The salt and pepper chicken wings looked and tasted like they were cooked a few weeks ago! To be honest we felt robbed, and very disappointed. The free prawn crackers were good though.

Ordered a takeaway order to be collected. The food was ready on time for collection, the service was friendly, and the food was amazing! We will definitely be ordering again, highly recommended :-)

This restaurant is an old favourite and it is great to see it re-opened, serving Darreners again. We went for a family meal (8 people) and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Trevor and Mandy were great hosts. I had chicken lettuce wraps to start which were very tasty and light. For main, I tried King Prawn in Kung Po with Cashew Nuts and think this is my new 'go to' dish, it was excellent. All was washed down with a couple of bottles of Tsingtao which perfectly complements Chinese food. I rate Man Lee as one of the best in the area; it is not flashy, the food is authentic, service good and everything is reasonably priced. Recommended.

In my opinion, Man Lee is the best Chinese in the area. Despite being located in Darwen centre, it's a little off the beaten path, but the food is consistently good and reasonably priced. If you want fancy details and premium prices go somewhere else, but if taste and quality is your priority, I recommend this place.

We went for a family birthday meal last week. and found it dirty and not pleasant. The only noodles I’ve ever had that are tasteless, the portion sizes are laughable and the sauce couldn’t be watered down more. Very disappointed with the food and will not be returning considering the price is not proportionate to the food quality or the size. Complete waste of money. Very expensive for the portion sizes and considering the state of the place.

I’ve been going to Man Lee for many years and was sad to read it had closed due to retirement. But imagine the delight when it opened up again and it’s as good as ever. The food is consistently good, served with a smile and It’s firmly back on our agenda.

We enjoyed the food and the excellent service. Nothing could have been better! We had salt and pepper ribs to share to start: delicious and plentiful. King prawns, lightly battered, in garlic sauce was an excellent choice for one our mains. Beef Malaysian style was so tasty, complimented by egg fried rice which delicious in its own right. The food was very reasonably priced which did not reflect the quality and taste of the dishes. We look forward to returning and trying other dishes - soon!

Salt and pepper mushrooms are a must when you order! You are usually served by the owner. The food is authentic with a 'homemade' presentation, the decor is not posh or sophisticated. So, with this level of simplicity, it surprises you when the food tastes so delicate and full of body like a high-end place. I've been up and down the country, and this is still my favourite restaurant.

Just had a takeaway , from placing order to receiving delivery and eating the food , it was perfect , delicious hot food , reasonably priced , highly recommended and would def go again.

Just ordered food from here tonight £21 worth, absolutely disgusting, chicken was boiled! Rice was stuck together, chilli chicken tasted like a full bottle of soya sauce! Staff looked like she needed 24 hrs sleep,,Absolutely vile all in the bin it’s gone, won’t be coming again

The worse Chinese food ive ever seen everything was white and bland and gooey the manager is a bit arrogant aswell I paid £26 for the food and when I sent it all back I got £14 refund how does that work?

Very friendly and efficient service. The food probably won't win any awards but nonetheless it's very good. And there's ample parking practically on the doorstep which is free evenings and weekends. Plus it's good to see an old pub that'd had it's day get a new lease of life.

Always expect the unexpected when you visit Man Lee. This is from the owner, who is something of a Chinese version of Basil Fawlty. Well meaning but sometimes a little brusque. The waiting staff are outstanding as is the food. Never had an average meal here as it's always excellent.

Just ordered from here for the first time and we were very disappointed. The mains were ok but not very tasty and the most disappointing part was the salt and pepper chips. Soggy, greasy and tasteless!!! Never seen or tasted anything like them. Other reviews are positive but we’d recommend going somewhere else and don’t waste your money.

We order takeaway from here but hadn't dined in, The food was as good as we've come to expect but we enjoyed the atmosphere too. It was apparent that some diners were regulars and they were enjoying banter with the owners, which was nice to see. Friendly, efficient and professional.

I went there to celebrate my daughters 40th birthday.We had a series of starters, the duck was excellent, as were the prawn dumplings, the spring rolls- dont waste your time.We also ordered pork chow mein, egg fried rice, plain rice and prawnsnoodles as well as other dishes.There were no chinese spices used, everything was very bland, as if they had used flour and water to bind their main courses and when we asked for sweet chilli sauce for dipping, they didn't have any!As it was a special occassion we were very disappointed.Service was not up to scratch

Free insult with every meal! Waitress is curt and the comments made were "are you eating alone again." She made me feel uncomfortable. She called one customer fat the time I visited before. The food is bland and uninspiring. I was also charged 50p for extra ginger!

Visited man lee with a friend on 26/5/19 for a birthday meal. I ordered chicken chow mein, it was disgusting, no taste whatsoever, my friend ordered chicken in black bean sauce and that too was disgusting. We ordered the food and it was on our table in less than 5 minutes , it seemed like it had come straight from a microwave. I ll never go there again

Came to Man Lee for the first time, absolutely loved it! It’s Chinese New Year, feeling really homesick. But coming to Man Lee for tea and talking to Mandy in the same language tone was a homesick relief. Mandy is lovely and friendly, the food was great Highly recommend salt and pepper ribs, it’s crispy and tasty. tofu was good too. Beef was tender. Everything just fantastic

Man Lee serves one of the best chinese meals going. The owner, Mandy, is the perfect hostess, nothing is too much trouble and the staff are polite and efficient. The food is 2nd to none and is excellent value for money. If you like Chinese this is the place to go, and eleven if you don't you soon will do. The hot and sour soup is to die for as is the Singapore vermicelli.

I visited with 2 friends the week before Christmas having not been for over 10 years and it wasnt busy.The staff are friendly and service is quick. The food was delicious and ready quickly. Then we asked for the bill, it was a fraction of the price we expected it to be.

The only thing that confuses me about this place is that it isn't as busy as it should be!! It is the best Chinese in the area, if you aren't willing or able to travel to Manchester's China Town!! I have been an occasional patron of this venue since it was located on the Main Road, and it has never failed to deliver! Always a fabulous delicious meal. The only stress when visiting Man Lee is choosing your meal, but I have to say if you are a lover of garlic the Garlic Chicken is heavenly! It never ceases to amaze me that Darreners forget that this restaurant still exists and speak about the old place as if it has shut and not relocated to larger premises!!

Called into the restaurant friday 13th July for lunch and chose the set lunch menu really delicious will definitely be going back.

Stopped off at Man Lee near Darwen Railway station for a quick meal before a gig at Darwen Library Theatre. The food was one of the best I've tasted in this area. More people should go, you won't be disappointed. Just needs more advertising to its whereabouts. Highly recommend

I went to Man lee's Chinese restaurant with my family. Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Darwen. Can not compare with cheap Chinese Takeaways. Nice portions as well. Staff is very friendly and welcoming.Food was nicely cooked and fast too specially the chicken and sweet corn soup. It is a shame that the place is hidden from the town but I was not be disappointed.

Although we used the take away service from this restaurant on many occasions, this is the first time we've taken the time to use the in house service It was Friday early evening but the place was already filling up, found the service to be quick with no delay and great timing between courses, food was fantastic , nice and hot, and very very reasonably priced , will definitely be using the in house service a lot more in the future.
