We ate breakfast as part of our hotel package. On the Saturday & Sunday mornings it was offered buffet style (because of a wedding). In some ways we preferred this as we could select what we wanted from both the continental style & hot buffet. However on Saturday although my mushrooms, hash brown & egg (which was also runny) were hot my bacon was not. I selected 1 sausage (I’m funny about them) & was glad I did as to me it wasn’t nice. There was also grilled tomato available (if there was anything else we didn’t notice it). We were asked did we want toast & we were brought 2 slices of white (me) & brown (hubby). Both looked anaemic & the butter wouldn’t spread. It also came after we had eaten breakfast (which I didn’t mind as I like my honey) but hubby likes his with breakfast. The worst was the coffee - I just couldn’t drink it at all & I don’t like tea! On Sunday as we knew better what too expect I opted too just have apple juice too drink (pleasant) & we requested toast earlier & I asked for mine to be ‘burnt’. For my hot buffet I went with the bacon again (still luke warm) & other items selected on Saturday (without the sausage). We also noticed that there were baked beans & (I think) black pudding & scrambled egg on offer. Hubby had same as Saturday + the baked beans. On the Monday it was table service - hubby opted for full English without Black pudding. Menu said bacon was smoked but hubby said not. I decided to go for the eggs Benedict but asked for smoked salmon (which I like) instead of smoked bacon (which I don’t ). Got a very generous & enjoyable portion . Main niggle was that hubby wasn’t offered extra bacon as he didn’t want the black pudding( though suppose he could have asked). Hubby said that menu said coffee was freshly brewed using ground coffee (from a brand I like) so I decided to give it a go. No it wasn’t nice & I left it. Only real positive is the staff who are brilliant

Having been let down by another Darwen restaurant who cancelled our Festive lunch at 3 days notice, my friends and myself booked a pre-Christmas lunch here. The restaurant was elegantly furnished with crisp white tablecloths and white Christmas lights. The food was excellent, nicely presented and served with a smile. The waitresses were friendly, efficient and even offered to make an Irish coffee, which wasn’t on the menu, for my friend. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

Enjoy coming here. Good roast beef dinner but didn't enjoy the sweetcorn fritter as a starter.

Staying over for the night so why not eat in the hotel restaurant which is in a Conservatory. I was a little random as had a tooth out yesterday but food spot on

My Wife and I booked for Lunch on a Monday. There is something about Astley Bank that somehow transports you to happier times of yesteryear. One of the few places that has maintained the high standards that were once more prevalent. Beautiful moorland setting with gardens just showing the first promising shoots of a new spring, a promise of better times to come after a Winter that seems to have lasted six months. Staff are smart in appearance and amenable in nature, attentive without being overbearing. The table settings were immaculate.Crisp white tablecloth, bottled water, quality cutlery Food arrived promptly, beautifully presented and hot. The potato and leek soup was outstanding probably the best I have ever tasted . My wife was delighted with the main course of duck.The desserts were a feast for the eyes alone not just delicious.. We keep coming back because the standards are not just high they are also consistent. We are both deeply fond of Astley Bank, a treasured survivor of more glamorous times. A place of cherished memories.

Visited with a friend for afternoon tea and it was absolutely beautiful. The service was second to none and every morsel delicious 😋. Cheese and truffle soup, homemade bread, tartlets, scones, handmade chocolates and blueberry, passion fruit and ginger trifle. We had a lovely afternoon. We will definitely be returning 😊

Booked to return again for our works Christmas party and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing as usual. Everyone commented on the level of service and quality of food before having a Prosecco or two 🍾🥂. We had a fantastic night and it looks like I’ll be arranging to return next year 😊.

I stay at Astley Bank occasionally for business. The food & service is always excellent. The dining this month was exceptional. Amazing food.

Dined Christmas Eve,party of four.we have been dining at Astley Bank since 1994 we have ALWAYS had the most wonderful food and service imaginable. Christmas Eve we dined in the shorrock room and had what can only be described as the most outstanding food and service,from being greeted on arrival by sue and the team,being shown to our room which was festively decorated,along with the table.we were served pre dinner drinks whilst we decided what to eat. Starters consisted of seared scallops with black pudding (amazing) baby baked Camembert with crusty bread,and the more adventurous of the party had the wood pigeon….which they said was excellent Main courses of fillet beef,rack of Welsh lamb,with accompanying veggies and potatoes,arrived,presentation on the plate was outstanding.needless to say clean plates were returned all round. To complete our Christmas Eve dinner we had a wonderful selection of deserts,and cheese boards. Special mention as always must go to sue,who runs a very happy highly professional and friendly team,our night was made complete by our server Holly,this young lady was so natural and an absolute delight all evening. So once again Astley Bank….THANK YOU EVERYONE For making our Christmas that little bit more magical this year.we looking forward to our next visit in the new year.

The main course of cod was delicious but white fish on white risotto on a white plate did not look appealing. (It was stuffed with a spinach leaf. Not wrapped in it.) The chicken dinner "special" was not. It was bland. All the desserts were delicious. No check backs on courses served to see if everything was ok. Service was basic.

I would like to thank one of your colleagues Sue who was working on Sunday 5th Sept. Sue was serving us for a Ruby wedding anniversary and I have to say the service Sue delivers is second to none. She is a genuine caring person who goes above and beyond for customers. Sue is a true credit to the company and shone throughout the day. Thank you Sue.

Having been diners at this hotel for over 20yrs it never fails to deliver a first class dining experience.we diner here in August and September with friends,from entering the hotel we recieved a warm and friendly welcome from all the staff,special mention must to to sue who seems to run a very friendly whilst remaining TOTALY professional team. Having been unable to visit since March due to the covid pandemic we were a little unsure as to what we would find,we need not have worried from entering to leaving we witnessed the great lengths the hotel have gone to to keep both staff and customers safe,from temperature checks on entering,data collection of guests,adequate distancing between tables,all staff adhering to safety measures throughout our stay.it gave an overwhelming feeling of being safe thus enabling each and everyone of us to enjoy the OUTSTANDING food.......I have said it before and I will say it again the quality and presentation of the food at Astley Bank is outstanding,so in conclusion thank you Astley Bank team for maintaining your high standards in all departments,thank you for keeping us safe,and thank you for once again giving us a great dining experience. Already looking forward to our visit next week.

Arrived today with 2 friends to a warm welcome. This place more than exceeded my expectations. Beautiful room to eat in and the doors were open to the lovely outdoor area as it was a nice sunny day. The food was £15 for 3 courses but the quality and presentation could easily rival a very much more expensive place. We didn’t sit in the bar area but it looked really nice. The service was fabulous. We will certainly be back.

Returned to my favourite restaurant. Lovely new entrance and chandeliers. Staff as warm and welcoming as ever and fabulous food, wine and service. What more could you ask for?

Took Suzy for a Bday dinner it was our first visit but won't be our last. From arrival to departure we were made to feel special a lovely relaxed but attentive service great food and good value looking forward to our next visit.

Visited Saturday evening with friends had the most amazing food,every one of us was so impressed from start to finish,the quality and presentation of the food is second to none,with friendly but professional service throughout,we have visited many times for the excellent Sunday lunch but shall not hesitate to treat ourselves to a Saturday evening.thank you Sue and all your team you really are "The Best"

Lovely setting, friendly staff and as per usual, absolutely fabulous food. Every course was first class. Pork skewer with Asian slaw, roast beef dinner and sticky toffee pud with rum and raisin ice cream and vanilla custard. Worth every penny.

We got married here in May 2015 and we love to come back for our anniversary meal each year. The food and service is outstanding, we sit there and reminisce about our day whilst soaking up the lovely relaxed atmosphere. Some of the staff have been there for years and you can see they take pride in what they do, this isn’t your run of the mill hotel, they make you feel special. I would always trust Astley Bank to delivery food food in style, they never let us down. Also a big shout out to Sue who has welcomed us back every year and looked after us during our time there. This restaurant is in the Astley Bank HotelFive men dining there last night,the hotel is very comfortable with. Good bar area and a large lounge with big comfortable furnitureNice welcome from reception and bar staff,the order was taken and we moved into the beautiful dining room shortly afterwards.We had ordered from the Table d'Hote menu which at £25 a head is very good value. Lovely meal well served and we all felt it had been well worth the visit and had enjoyed everything .Here to our next visit

We stayed at the Astley bank hotel and eat in their restaurant called Othello’s and the food was gorgeous. The service was really nice the waitress was helpful and so polite she was a real pleasant change to some places I have eaten in where the food gets virtually thrown at you. Nothing was too much trouble a lovely evening was had by all, the food was fresh, hot and really well presented.

Delighted to get a round/oval table for the 6 of us. The restaurant was very busy and the service a little slower than usual but we were not rushing! The food as ever was delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. All the Christmas decorations looked so nice and there was as a lovely atmosphere throughout the hotel.

I went with my husband, sister and son to have afternoon tea at Astley Bank Hotel for my birthday. It is such a beautiful dining room. The service was great and the food exceptional. As a bonus we could book afternoon tea at 12.30 p.m. so it was like having a light lunch. We all loved the soup which was served in a cup. The open sandwiches were all on different breads and really fresh. There was scones , meringues, cakes and the most exquisite chocolates. It all made for a very unusual and very special birthday outing.

Arrived waited no one there then took to different rooms before menu given we all got lunch all food not gud bland service really bad left us waiting long time in all 3hours just for lunch none of us will be back

Another wonderful meal at Astley Bank! It's definitely my favourite place to eat out and I have never had a bad meal. The food is great quality and always served to high standards. There is a lovely atmosphere and the staff are welcoming and friendly.

Booked Christmas Day lunch here but have to say I and members of my party on this occasion were disappointed. One of the most expensive lunches in the area I have to say we had great expectations of what to expect knowing of this hotels reputation

We are two ladies celebrating a certain birthday with a 0 at the end within a month of each other so we decided to treat ourselves to afternoon tea. We had a very nice selection of sandwiches with crisps then yummy desserts and cakes. With as much tea as we wanted we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The price was on a par with other establishments who serve afternoon tea, so all in all, we came away very happy.

We arrived at Astley Bank Hotel at 17.50, meal booked for 18.00.

Have been regulars here for years and have never been disappointed. Tonight the staff as always were lovely, but sadly the food was not!! The mushroom starter was ok but fairly tasteless, the main course of duck was basically raw!!! I often have duck served pink but this was oozing blood!! The waitress twice offered to take it back and to get it cooked a bit more. I refused as the whole meal just tasted of duck fat. I did however, take the duck breast home for my rottweiler. Very disappointed on this occasion.

It's ten years since we visited this restaraunt as we don't live in the area but we're here to celebrate at a family birthday .

Tal vez fue nuestra culpa por alojarse en el hotel un domingo por la noche, cuando el restaurante era el menú del almuerzo, lo cual no era muy estimulante, por desgracia. Hotel restaurante típico forraje parece resumen, comida que no es un reto a la cena y sin duda no difícil de los chefs. Las opciones eran cocinados bien, pero quizás a las 7:30 de un domingo por la tarde, después de que sirven la misma platos a la gentry local todo el día, los chefs eran perdiendo interés?

He estado yendo a este restaurante a Astley Bank Hotel durante muchos años y sigue siendo mejor y mejor. Nos dieron una habitación privada, aunque sólo había 9 de nosotros. El servicio, las vistas, el entorno, el personal y, más especialmente, la comida era excepcional. Fue un cumpleaños muy especial para mi cuñada y nos orgullosos. Gracias por hacer el día tan especial.

We enjoyed a lovely early evening Sunday lunch with friends. Although the room was full and a private party was going on in an adjacent room the service was faultless. A full dining room on a Sunday evening tells you this is a top spot for locals. Food and value excellent.We finished with coffee and truffles in the louge bar. We felt no pressure to leave (although we were residents) and ended a very pleasent evening around 10pm.

My wife and I visited Othellos at Astley Bank for Sunday lunch. The lunch at £23 a head is excellent value for money. A three course dinner with coffee and truffles. The meals are well presented and are cooked by the excellent chef to perfection. The restaurant is always well attended each and every time we have visited. The staff are very professional and do everything possible to make your dining experience a pleasurable one. A special mention must go to Sue for her dedication to customer service.We married at Astley Bank in 2009 and have since enjoyed numerous meals there. We have also dined every Christmas day dinner since our wedding. I cannot commend Othellos highly enough, try it you will not be disappointed. An oasis of culinary excellence in a quite corner of Lancashire the variety of food and skilled presentation make it a place for special occasions.

This was our first visit having been treated to the meal as an anniversary present by friends who are regulars. It turned out to be a very good present. We dined on a Friday evening as Saturday's seem to be booked up with wedding receptions and I can understand why as the grounds are beautifully kept and it is a lovely setting. We had the Table d'Hote menu at £23 per head my husband ordering a rib eye steak for an extra £5. The food was excellent and presented in a modern way. The service was very good without being instrusive. We sat in the lounge to enjoy our coffees and hand made chocolates. This was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and would definitely recommend.

Visited for Sunday lunch. The food was as beautiful as ever. Beef blade was gorgeous. I believe it's changed hands, but the same staff remain. Waiter forgot our coffee, but other than that, it was great.

Fantastic meal with six work colleagues. Food fantastic as always. Waiter Service in bar and in restaurant not quite as fantastic as normal but certainly not bad enough to complain about - I think they were just having an off night. All in all fantastic.

I met my Darwen estate agency friend Paul for a business lunch today and I must admit I was rather impressed with lunch. Lovely sandwiches and chips to die for! Nice people as well in a fab setting

Well I must say I was expecting good things however I'm disappointed it's overpriced and poor quality and the staff were rude and uninterested avoid like the plague if you can and don't go for afternoon tea it's not worth the money or your time

I went here for lunch with my friend. We both like nice food and this is our favourite. It is excellent both food and service. There is a great choice with something for everyone. I had the Soup, then Blade of Beef, followed by the Cheese Platter. The soup was hot, tasty served with delicious bread. The Beef was just amazing ! As we're all the veg that were served with it and the cheese was plentiful served with a selection of nice biscuits, chutney and tart Apple ..... Just 1st Class all the way! My friend had the Blade of Beef on my recommendation and she loved it. We had a superb meal with exceptional service. If you want to impress someone, treat someone or just love an excellent meal in very nice surroundings this place it has to be.

Set menu £22.50 for Sunday lunch although we were booked in at 5pm large group so when we arrived there wasn't enough chairs for the group to sit down unfortunately. Lovely lady (sorry didn't take note of name) gave us menu's and made sure we were all happy. Were seated and orders taken for drinks, starters and mains. Choices were different but every single person enjoyed 100% of the meal it really was excellent and probably the nicest food in the area. Would recommend the restaurant to everyone.

Every time I go to this restaurant inside Astley Bank Hotel there is something different to try on the menu. Last time it was delicious pork cheeks this time it was salmon with crabmeat spring rolls on a bed of noodles.Sometimes the dishes seem a bit too busy and confused - like the chef is in the quarter finals of Masterchef and he's trying a bit too hard with a few too many ingredients o the plate. At other times his creative genius delivers some excellent food.My starter - thai prawns in a chilli sauce with apple (yes apple!) was excellent. The salmon main a little 'meh' and the deconstructed tiramisu only worked when I reconstructed it via a process of putting a bit of each thing that lay on the plate in front of me in my mouth at once.My family all had different dishes - fish, chicken and pork and the all looked and tasted better than my main and to be honest it's the first time I can recall where I've had a disappointing main. The puddings are always tip top and the drinks, despite it being a hotel, are not outrageously expensive (but maybe that's by virtue of regional price differences rather than the hotel's pricing policy).I cannot fault the service - everyone was very friendly and willing to deal with silly questions about the menu. Also the cheese board I saw someone else had looked excellent.I also ate in the restaurant for breakfast the next day and had an excellent full English and everything is also well cooked and presented and smacks of quality ingredients.

Clean, contemporary decor and spacious restaurant with very few diners on the evening we visited. Food well presented and was a good reflection of the taste and quality of the meal. Very fair pricing too. Would highly recommend dining here, especially if you are staying at the hotel. All in all a very good experience.

I regularly take clients here for lunch. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, the staff are always very obliging, it has a good menu with seasonal variants, there's never been a problem just turning up without booking. Nothing is too much trouble at all!The setting is lovely and prefect for business meetings. Will continue to recommend without hesitation.

Went for the Sunday dinner menu yesterday, three courses for around £23 per person. The food was exceptional, it's always good but yesterday it surpassed expectation! Service was excellent as usual and as always a lovely clean, calm and welcoming environment. Can't fault it!

My daughter and I enjoyed an early mothers day afternoon tea here in the restaurant at Astley Bank.Good choice of sandwiches and cakes and enough for the two of us,also option to have coffee instead of pot of tea,very relaxing and good choice of drinks at the bar.We were'nt rushed although it was quiet for a saturday afternoon.Maybe they could advertise the fact they do afternoon teas as it doesn't show on the web site and seems to be by word of mouth that people know its available.Would definately return.

Best meal we have had in a long time and excellent customer service. Will definitely be returning. We enjoyed a 3 course meal and drinks. I had the pulled pork spring rolls which were actually the best spring rolls I have ever tasted. They came with a gorgeous orange sauce. My husband had the black pudding starter which he said was delicious. For mains we had beef bourginion and roast duck. Both excellent! And then for dessert chocolate fondant and an orange and mascarpone cheesecake. Absolutely gorgeous and we couldn't fault the meal at all. Lovely moder decor also.

Stayed in the hotel as a conference guest and enjoyed consistently excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Possibly the finest fillet steak I've eaten anywhere in the world. Highly attentive, polite and friendly staff too. Highly recommended.

We visited just before Christmas and the place was very busy. Service however was not compromised, nor was the quality and presentation.For just under £25 we all enjoyed a superb three course meal with coffee and mince pies served afterwards in the lounge area.The food was exceptional and of the highest quality, and three hours passed in no time,Service was polite and attentive, and the whole experience first class.We would definitely recommend Othello's in the Astley Bank hotel. It's situated up a steep road, and amongst it's own gardens. You could almost be in the lake District!Highly recommended!!!

A very nice venue to meet clients and associates for coffee and lunch. I've taken several of my clients here. Food very good, coffee equally as nice, and service good too. Happy to recommend.

Visited on a quiet Tuesday evening with friends. Staff friendly and helpful. Food quality didn't live up to recommendations I'd been given to be honest. Friends eating the lamb said it was superb and the fish was good too. However Burgers were disappointing and the ravioli was a little over cooked. Overall food was okay but unlikely to visit again. Coffee at the end was amusing. Asked for one shot espresso and was given "two shots , as one looked lost in that cup" .

Eaten here a few times and always a great meal with friendly and relaxed service. A large family meal and we had our own area set up ready for our family & friends. A great welcome with drinks and canape served before our meal. Food was excellent and all dishes served together and hot and perfectly seasoned - Really impressed given the numbers dining. Wine was good and reasonably priced also. We were looked after from start to finish and not rushed.Great afternoon in great company with food and drink to match. I look forward to eating again here very soon.

The restaurant which is located in the Astley Bank Hotel is wonderfully light and airy and has delightful views of the superb gardens.There is a very good Table d'Hote menu for £26.50 and a more extensive A la Carte menu for the special occasion.The Italian style bread was light and delicious and then I had the Chicken Tikka Goujons with potato salad, tomato & spring onion salsa and mint yoghurt dressing which was delicious and a good sized portion for a starter.For my main course I had the Pot Roast Spanish Chicken with chorizo, tomato, oranges, red wine, thyme, gratin potato and broccoli which was beautifully moist and full of flavour.I ended the meal with the local cheeses which were excellent and were accompanied by grapes & a lovely chutney.There is plenty of off road parking at the restaurant and I would recommend it highly - especially for thta special occasion.

Have just returned from enjoying one of the best meals I have ever had - and I've eaten around the world! My husband chose Astley Bank for us to celebrate our Diamond Wedding Day (55 Years) because many years ago he had business meetings there.The setting is elegant and very calm. The menu is varied and the staff are pleasant and professional - they are certainly some of the best I've encountered.The food is out of this world - such flavours - I had the grilled chicken breast so tasty and moist served with chunky chips, onion rings(the best ever!) field mushroom, large grilled tomato and delicious gravy which I found I didn't really need so passed to my husband who had the roast ham. He had the most tender thick slice of ham served with green beans and other seasonal vegetables - one of the best main courses he's ever had.With our brilliant filling starters of Goats Cheese Crostin, Chicken and Celeriac Soup we sadly just didn't have room for any of the deserts even though the descriptions were so inviting.Thank you to all the staff who gave us such a memorable evening - we'll be back!

Belated review from our visit in July 2013. About 20 of us went for Sunday lunch to celebrate my daughter's 18th. Food and atmosphere were excellent and the fixed price lunch menu is superb value. We kept changing the numbers up and down after we originally booked but these changes were professionally dealt with. If I had one criticism it was then we weren't asked if needed more drinks when our glasses were empty.

I have enjoyed many meals on several different occasions at this restaurant and chose it for my 60th birthday. It is consistently superb. It's a lovely old ( previously mill owner's ) house, set back from the A666, in lovely grounds. Staff are always polite and friendly and the food is delicious. It's always a treat to go there.

This was our fourth visit in three months so we knew what to expect and we were not disappointed.Everything is done well. From the canapes to the pudding wine everything is first class. The service is friendly and faultless, unpretentious but spot on. Far and away the best restaurant in the area.

This is the second time my husband and I have been here. We came both times for Sunday lunch. The whole duration we spent in the hotel was about two hours. They look after you really well and make sure you have everything you need without being in your face. The menu had a good.selection. The food was delicious, well presented and homely. Great value for three courses. We didn't feel rushed and enjoyed every minute. We came for our anniversary and the restaurant had made the effort to decorate our table. Would recommend

I love Astley Bank! Being ranked #6 restaurant in Darwen (at the time I wrote this) is not a reflection on Othellos restaurant but on the people of Darwen who value a cheap meal rather than a meal of quality! I have visited Astley Bank on numerous occasions and I have to say that it is the most consistent restaurant that never fails to deliver fine food of exceptional quality. In terms of pricing, this is also reasonable in terms of value for money, a 3 course meal with coffee averages at £22pp which is very good considering the quality of the food. You are always welcomed at Astley Bank by friendly staff that deliver excellent service, which begins with a tasty canapé (a complimentary treat). We always have a fantastic meal at Astley Bank and would recommend it to anyone.

Othello's Restaurant is located inside Astley Bank Hotel. I have stayed at Astley Bank on 5 different month-long business trips and find the food simply superb. The entire staff is warm, attentive and accommodating. The chefs prepare fresh, high quality, sumptuous fare served on warm plates with an appealing presentation. You will not be disappointed.

£120 for 4 people, 2 courses each and a bottle of wine. Given the reviews we were expecting quite good food, but every meal disappointed. First of all, square plates; a ridiculous idea which wastes table space and makes the small portions look even smaller. Secondly, large but thin steaks don't cook well. The steaks were both tough and tasteless. We could see that the Chef, (who wasn't in the kitchen) had tried to create something different on his menus, but the food was badly cooked, badly presented and final bill only served to increase the bitter after-taste. We are not interested in gardens, decor or even the service for that matter, it's the food that counts -and this is where Othello's lets you down.

I am finding it difficult to find fault with our dining experience for the table of 9 when we dined here. The service certainly measured up to the high standard of food. The staff were professional & attentive without being pushy. Every single person at our table not only admired the faultless presentation of the food but the balance of flavours was Devine. I can't wait to go again, we have dined before on the Sunday lunch menu and that was spectacular. If I was MADE to find fault - then perhaps gentle music in the lounge bar? But our conversation flowed and it wasn't missed. I really hope this gorgeous setting, professional staff and amazing food get recognised with a STAR one day soon, because they deserve it.

We have been to Othello's several times over the past few years. This time we made a late call and were kindly squeezed in at the last gasp for Sunday lunch at 6pm. The service was excellent and the menu has one spoiled for choice, with some inventive combinations on all the courses. Whatever is chosen is always top quality and well presented. The staff do service with a big smile, and theres always a gorgeous rich chocolate to go with the coffee at the end of the meal.

Having lived in the NorthWest of England for a long time, this was my first visit to this amazing restaurant. It is within Astley Bank Hotel which is a beautiful building with immaculately manicured gardens & grounds.The restaurant is very modern with a high standard of decor, the staff are all pleasant and very helpful, and the food is excellent.My fish & chips were very tasty and the desserts were sublime. Some of our party opted for a starter and a lighter meal, again very good portions and great presentation.We will definitely return very soon as there are so many other dishes on the menu to try!

Family run business. ?beautiful surrondings & gorgeous food. always fresh & so well presented. Sunday evenings are my favourite with the family & lunch is a nice treat! Been going now for 10 years & still love it!

Have eaten here many times, and went on this occasion for Sunday Lunch (served till 8pm I believe) to see the restaurant refurbishment, (which has been very tastefully updated). Quality food in beautiful surroundings, knowledgeable, competent staff, all at a very realistic price. We have eaten in many restaurants nationwide and have never found one to better Othellos. Nigel & Helen, (the owners) were eating there that night for their wedding anniversary, what better recommendation could there be!

This restaurant is worthy of rosettes. Beautiful, high quality food with excellent presentation and service.

Fabulous food, tdh menu worth every penny. The lamb was delicious and everyone on our table of six loved their food. We asked for the full dessert menu for mum which arrived assiette, miniatures of everything beautifully presented. Perfect, nothing was too much trouble. Worth a visit anytime. Gorgeous!

Have eaten here on at least 6 occasions, never failed to impress. The chef clearly enjoys cooking and it shows in the quality of the food and the presentation of each dish. The staff are always pleasant and attentive and appear to be well trained in all aspects of the service. A romantic meal or in a group, you will not be disappointed.

Last Sunday, once again, we enjoyed Sunday Lunch in Astley Bank's Othello's restaurant. The choice of dishes was very good.Quality ingredients are cooked and presented with flair and imagination. From start to finish,dining here is a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Lovely food served in beautiful surroundings,good unobtrusive service and unbeatable value for money.....What could be better?

We've visited Astley Bank on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. The food is top notch and sourced from local producers. All the staff are friendly without being intrusive. Nothing is too much trouble. It's not the cheapest but quality food in quality surroundings never is! A hidden gem in Darwen.

Favourite restraunt. Tend to return every month or so.
