Had such a fun time here, atmosphere was awesome and the bar staff were amazing

Wow what a great little place this is.. .. as the music and artist that was on draws you in (Very good by the way).....you find the bar staff rude, aggressive, foul mouthed and just not nice really. As a place wow...but the little staff behind the bar are awful, rude, very aggressive and inexperienced.....I defo think a training course is needed in manners, respect and customer relations as the kind of attitude I witnessed to one customer was atrocious and will only follow that staff around.....wherever they go and whatever they do. Some people just aren't cut out for the service industry. Still a good place to go though but don't trust the staff as they became attention seekers and not classy at all x

I asked for smirnoff and caught bar staff pouring some none description vodka so told her! I got smirnoff......

Good choice of beers, shame the first two I chose weren't available but good atmosphere on a Friday night

Top Venue, nice selection of drinks and a nice place to go if you like to have a conversation instead of booming music. God I'm old!!!!

19 th October 22 What can I say?!!!! Or to rephrase that, where do I begin, My 63 Birthday today so youngest daughter suggested we call in here for a bite to eat and a drink, Wednesday night so was quiet, Two Daughters, their partners, my partner and myself, A quick round of drinks off a very polite barman, then checked out the Menu, small but a good choice, we all seemed to order diffrent things, the food didnt take long at all, Was very impressed at the speed all of us recieved our meals simultaneously, then chef took time to check what other sauces or extras any of us needed, The potions on each plate more than ample and presentation fantastic, The taste was amazing, my wrap was cooked to perfection, every member of the group commented how good their meal tasted, Staff where very tentative, a real pleasure to have had my birthday there, we will definitely be back,, and a bonus the prices are "spot on" Thanks guys 👍👍

Visited today for the first time. Really friendly staff and the food was amazing. We will definitely be back for more food and a night out when we can get a babysitter. Best meal we have had in ages 😁

Cracking welcome and great service ar Taps. Table of 7 + a dog looked after with brilliant service. Good drink selection and honest food with everyone’s requests looked after by the kitchen. Plus a warm and fun atmosphere downstairs! Would recommend 👍

Nice venue. I went here for a baby shower and they catered. They also provided catered food but didnt have many gluten and dairy free options. A few gluten free just not gluten and dairy free options

Good enough for the bank holiday weekend chaos

Been for food before now and it was alright, the second time not so. Had a puddle of greese at the bottom of my pasta which tainted most of the food, a bit hit and miss but entertainment and beer is bob on prices too

We went for a meal on Valentines night and the food was fantastic. We are regulars at Taps but don’t eat here very often but we will now. The brownies with ice cream were to die for. Thanks Mike

Great atmosphere, yet to try the food

Really disappointed. Visited one Saturday , there was noone in but the staff couldn't care less. Ordered beers , not the first choice as the tap was broke . Then got some ribs and a burger. Sorry to say but the ribs were not possible to eat, not cooked properly , greasy , really disappointed.

Lovely little bar plays pleasant music, they made us very welcome and had a variety of drinks and tapas. we called in early just in case it may get crowded later but worth dropping in for a visit.

Nice small bar, and they do serve you little nibbles (i.e BBQ meat) for free (no veg options that I was aware) fair price for drinks and food service, though they really need to sort their speakers out, music upstairs was so loud and distorted it hurt the ears, and speakers outside just seemed to steam loud music into the street for no real reason.

A nice friendly Micro pub . It's comfortable , usually fairly full and welcoming . But the main event is the beer . As I remember there were 4 real ales , the three I tried were all in excellent condition . What more can you want ?

Read the reviews on here so me and the hubby had a look at the menu, plenty of choice especially for me being a veggie and thought let's give it a go! WRONG! From the moment we stepped in we knew this was a mistake but never judge a book by its cover. The place itself isn't to bad, shabby chic! As we stepped up to the bar the bar man asked what would we like to drink, not a lot of choice so pint and a half of craft lager. We asked for the menu, I was expecting this large menu to appear, but alas not just an A4 size piece of laminated paper with very little choice, we went for the cheese garlic bread for a starter and then I went for the halloumi fries in a pitta with a sweet chilli dip with chips and hot cheese sauce and the hubby went for 8oz rib eye steak and chips. Well we waited and waited! After what seemed like forever but was actually nearly an hour our starter had arrived!, please bear in mind there were 6 people in the place, the garlic bread was a bit lack lustre to say the least! There were clumps of unmelted cheese still on the cold bead. Then our main had arrived! Well mine came on a wooden board with 1 folded up wrap, a few burnt halloumi fries, and a bit of brown salad! The hubbys turned up on a wooden board and consisted of 1 steak Canadian 2 mushrooms a 2 tomatoes, plus a bucket of French fries with red salt! The chips covered in hot cheese sauce consisted of greasy wedges with melted cheese! I pushed my fork into them and the grease poured out! Literally. There was another couple sat behind us who had order a starter and 2 mains which all came together, when she told the barman that it was suppose to come separate and that she couldn't eat everything together he just muttered some expletives under his breath and walked off! My hubby went to pay the bill after 2 hours being in here and the barman tried to charge him for 3 steaks! Be careful folks! Even when my hubby was paying the other barman brought us another steak and chips! He asked us if we were waiting for even though he had just cleared our plates! Not a good place to eat, a lot nicer places in Darwen.

Good little bar only just opened when we went. Now serving food and regular entertainment. Will be a good addition to an already good town for eating and drinking.

Have some consideration for your neighbours on the streets opposite. Can hear you're karaoke/strangle cat every Thursday night. Surely in a small bar you don't need it at three million decibels. Muppet's.

It's a nice bar, bit expensive and they don't look after the pipes too well, and I'm pretty sure it's a drug front, but a good bar.

Love this place. Quant little quirky place. Staff are brilliant and always friendly. Good menu with a wide choice served beautifully. Eating area upstairs if you choose not to sit in bar. Daily meal and drink deals but different to others that do this deal. Home cooked taste and flavours from tacos to burgers. Live music sports dj and open mike. Would highly recommend The Taps bar for all ages. Dog friendly also. So after a great walk great place for a beverage and homemade chips. You will be pleasantly suprised.

Stopped here for lunch after taking my 1 year old swimming. We had the upstairs to ourselves. Sarah who was working brought us a high chair and an activity pack for the little one. She was great and brought our drinks upstairs. Service was A+ Food was good. I could not fault it. Tasty and fresh. I am so glad we tried it here.

We pre-booked to have the Tapas on a Friday night and we are so glad we did! From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was great. The choice of music playing over the system was to our taste and later on in the evening there was some live music which was really enjoyable. The service was great. All the staff were really helpful and attentive. The food was good. It was all served hot so you can tell it was fresh, it hadn't been sitting under a heat lamp. Even though it's Tapas the portions were very filling and we only managed two out of three boards! Well worth the money we spent. The place itself has a relaxed vibe, seating made out of Kegs and pallets and the walls adorned with messages and notes. We really enjoyed the whole feel of the place and wouldn't hesitate to visit again!

First time trying the tapas and absolutely loved it! Quirky décor and an all round friendly and fun vibe. Will definitely be back! Would highly recommend.

Eaten here twice in the last 3 days, had Tapas on Friday. Food was absolutely beautiful and it was all you can eat for £9.99, what's not to like? Went back on Sunday with my wife, mum and sister and while we were all initially disappointed that the Sunday roast wasn't available our woes were soon forgotten as we tucked into beef brisket in a bbq sauce with red cabbage on a brioche bun along with THE best sweet potato wedges I have ever tasted. The service was great and they couldn't do enough for us. We have booked in for a Sunday roast in a fortnight and to be honest it can't come quickly enough. Highly recommended. A++++

Went here for a late lunch on a tues afternoon, we decided to have the chicken wings for a starter with 3 different sauces it was fab, my partner went for the chicken burger and I decided on the fajita both meals were great, the range of drinks was very good,we will definitely be going back friendly staff made it a good experience. All very reasonably priced.

We went on a nice, sunny, quiet Thursday lunch for my birthday. The cocktail was lovely, staff very friendly, and the food was excellent - something a bit different for Darwen. We'll definitely be going again.

My wife, sons and I decided we will try Taps after hearing about it off a friend. What a hidden little treasure for Darwens thriving economy. It was mexican night (Wed) and I went for a chicken enchelada, my wife had the chilli and my eldest lad went for the Fajita and my youngest had the kids nuggets and chips. We ordered drinks and sat down and I noticed a sign on the wall saying the food can take longer than your normal places to eat as everything is made fresh to order. Well it was certainly worth the wait. You could tell the chef had put a lot of effort into each dish and was served very well presented. We will certainly be going back as there is a very good selectionon their normal menu as well as their themed cuisine nights each day of the week. If you have not been yet then I recommend that you do.

My friend and I were looking for somewhere to lunch and wandered into this bar. I suspect we were older than the usual clientele, but the bar man was lovely and friendly. Good beer and an unusual menu (for Darwen), so we ordered. The food was really very good, tasty and the chips were Proper not frozen! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to any one who is looking for good, honest food at a very reasonable price.

This is a new addition to Darwen and one I can recommend. The food is also getting great feedback although I haven't eaten there myself. Nice atmosphere with friendly bar staff.

This is becoming a bit of a regular haunt. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good background music and we've heard a couple of good live acts here. We've enjoyed the tapas each time we've ordered.

Enjoyed our date night there. Cool little place, good selection of ales and cocktails. Menu is great and plenty of options and it tasted great. Have to order food at the bar and only one toilet and would have been good to have the menu explained as first time diners, otherwise would have been 5 stars and will definitely go again.
