The best restaurants in Copt Hill Sunderland North East

First time in there, live local and it has not long been re-opened. The board outside with quiz night drew us in. We went in with average expectations but actually had a really good night. The food is pub grub, but it was nice, and plenty of it. The quiz was one of the best I have been to, and the quiz master was entertaining. Shame there was not many people in there, but I guess it is just a case of getting the word out that it is worth a visit. I don't often review places, but thought it well deserved one.

every saturday morning after leaving myhair dresser I call in for a fish lunch take away. the fish here is beautiful white cod the batter remains crisp altough I must admit being lAzy i ask for boxes so when I get home it's ready to eat. the chips are not greacy fish bites are a meal on their own.the service is second to none. the girls are always extremely pleasant and the gentleman fish frier is immaculate. looking forward to Saturday x

New Owner Stacie is a lovley lady . You must pop in and see for yourself. Great atmosphere, friendly bar staff , everyone pleased to see the pub busy again.

I attended for a meal tonight we have been there several times , we waited a long time for food although it was not busy there were 6 meals.ordered the food was just say warm , my mams mince was stuck to the plate potatoes lumpy and she could not eat it. A total change from the last time.we were there

Having often driven past this restaurant we decided to give it a try. We booked a last minute table (20 minutes in advance) and turned up not knowing what to expect as we had never been before. It is cash only and parking is limited so bear this in mind before you go. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, the staff were really friendly and the food was fantastic! We all enjoyed 3 courses and a couple of drinks (alcoholic) and both were delicious. It worked out around £40 each for our meals and drinks which was excellent value. They even made a cocktail that was not on the menu for one of our group! Excellent food and service, we will definitely be back!

Heather and her team were fantastic all evening, couldn't do enough... 6 two course meals, 3 bottles of good sav blanc, couple of lagers and a coke. Food was lovely even let me change my mash for chips. Around 30 odd quid a head all in.. couldn't finish it, great value, food, service and staff had a drink with us at end.

Pleasant, clean and welcoming. Starters were well prepared and generous. Order 5 main courses. 4 were good without being exceptional. Mine arrived with cold veg and was sent back. On return the veg was undercooked ( especially anything diced ) and hard. Opening the beef and ale pie the meat and sauce was orange, tasting more of tomato than anything else. No taste whatsoever of beef! GrAvy weak and pretty tasteless. Whole meal rejected! I found the venue fairly limited and there was no kids menu offered. Can't recommend overall. Possibly the worst food and service I've experienced. There are far better places in the area. This, however, was just one of five meals served.

Used to order at least once a week as loved the food but the last 3/4 times we’ve tried to order we have rang none stop for over half an hour but call fails and comes up “caller busy” as if phone has been taken of the hook. At first we just put it down to them being busy as it often took a while to get through but became ridiculous after a few times. Tried to order tonight and started ringing at 8:05 and rang over 200 times and didn’t manage to get through before they shut. When I messaged last week to ask if they were having issues with their phone they never even bothered to reply. Such a shame as like I say we love the food but don’t think we will bother trying anymore, how they make money to stay open or surprising when they can’t even answer the phone.

Definitely different from your average takeaway, we got the mega box which was great value with various meats and sides. Pre ordered and was ready on time. Great service and food prepared with love.

Ordered a biscoff cheesecake which was okay but the cheesecake itself was actually a slice of baked vanilla cheesecake with biscoff crumbs scattered on top. The vanilla ice cream tasted nice but had some small pieces of ice in it but this was only a minor issue. My son enjoyed his cookie dough and chocolate fudge milkshake. We also ordered donuts which were nice. The website for this shop states there are 20-seats and toilet facilities, however this is just a takeaway and whilst waiting for your order you will need to wait outside. The order was brought out to us whilst we sat in our car. The place looks lovely and clean and has a good choice of food. The staff were all very friendly.

We took our friends for a meal and they weren't impressed. We had been to the pub several times before, But it had been taken over since we were there last. The food was only average, they don't do salads , (which our friends wanted), A dish of some vegetables was offered, then the bill came and they had charged for the bowl of veggies.) The place was very loud, we won't be going back there at all. Not the pub we remember. Our elderly friends were not impressed at all.
