The place used to be a very convenient and popular Chinese buffet, with heaps of good food for cheap, before Brexit and Covid made it sink. Since then, we have seen several incarnations, all carrying the same furniture, lifted from a disused kindergarten by the sight of it. And the sight of it it is, because during daytime this is a dead spot, adding nothing of use to our high street. What it adds is a bunch of uncohering, garish colors, in an awkward bid to replicate the hip bits of Hackney. Geometric wall painting (straight lines in aqua and orange — that was easy, huh?) clashes with "old-school graffiti art" on the board and shutter, about as fancy as sleeping rough by the train tracks. A perfectly nauseating mix with the aforementioned furniture. As for the service, I don't know. I wouldn't want to go in and sit on a kid's chair, and play "assemble your hip food" on an ashtray sized table if they paid me.

Tex Bites was always the go to spot on a Friday evening or Saturday, Mexicana Burger meal with wings instead of a drink or some tenders on the side. Fast forward to Covid, backyard BBQ teamed up with Tex to perhaps keep Tex afloat. The Mexicana burger is still a goto burger with their crinkle cut fries, but sadly the Backyard BBQ division seems to be lacking and slightly overpriced. Albeit, I only tried Backyard BBQ when they first launched a few years back (I was a bit shocked at the pricing at the time, for a joint that used to be a budget takeaway spot) and returned to try their wings. Sadly, they were very disappointing. 6 backyard wings (basically grilled wings) for £8.50. I’ll get back to the price shortly. 4 out of 6 wings were burnt, not even charred. I’ve included a picture of one of the wings in my review. Since we got takeaway (which we always do) I wasn’t able to check them before I left the shop. Rather disappointing that there’s no quality control, if something is burnt, chuck it and start a fresh. Now for the pricing - Chicken cottage doesn’t even charge that much for their grilled wings. I’d expect at least 8 wings for the price they’re charging. Or jumbo sized wings OR full size wings. Overall, I think the OG Mexicana burger is probably the only good thing that’s on the menu, for the price point at least.

A cozy spot with a warm ambiance, perfect for relaxing or getting some work done. The Mocha was rich and smooth, and the homemade crisps was delicious. Friendly staff and quick service made the experience even better. Highly recommend for a chill hangout! HMC verified As well. ✅️

This shop is part of the history in Leyton and serves up a good well priced cod and chips. I always purchase the special which comes with two cods for £6. The staff are friendly avoid late evening on Friday as you will be waiting a while . Excellent food

Wanted to come here for a while as love tapas and it was worth it. Ordered a selection of dishes which were all very good and of a good size. Particularly enjoyed the prawns and the meatballs. Only two serving staff that we could see who were both lovely and helpful with what and how much to order. Also ordered a jug of sangria which was very tasty. Only slight let down were the cocktails which were a bit weak Will definitely be returning and recommend to others to try this place soon

Most of the things I asked for on the menu, they didn't have, so ended up with jollof rice and fried plantain - which was ok, nothing special. Gulder was overpriced at £8/bottle and, unfortunately, Id sat in the back section which had an overwhelming smell of bad drains from the toilet - overall, not a great experience.
