Lovely food, lovely setting and lovely staff. We both had a Bookstore Breakfast, the place wasn’t busy at all for a Friday lunchtime. I feel this is a bit of hidden gem and not many people may know this is here. We will be returning to try and some more brunch items off the menu and hopefully a dinner time at some point

We came for brunch and had the Welsh Rarebit and Berry compote waffles. Both delicious and very reasonably priced! Worth a visit and we will definitely be back!

A good range of dishes, all healthy look but more imprtantly tasty. A place for a coffee and cake or a full lunch. Good seection of local beers as well. It's a beacon of light in the otherwise drab town of Erith. Definitely worth a detour. It's part of an arts and craft centre, you can even buy unsuuall plants for your garden, What's not to like!

The quiches are quite simply the best I have ever tasted. A different flavour every week and they never disappoint. The pastry is crisp and the fillings savoury and delicious. Service is always friendly and the cake selection is also very tempting. A short walk from Erith station so a glass of two of wine or beer can be enjoyed too. Highly recommended.

Nice little cafe/restaurant. Friendly staff. Aromatic coffee. Sadly, extremely overpriced. Two course for £25 (which might be a small salad and cake) plus 12.5% service charge. Used to be a place where I could meet my friends for a tasty something. Not any more… Sunday lunch time - almost empty. Says it all really… I will not be coming back to eat, maybe only for coffee…

What a stunning experience. Truly, one of the best culinary experiences I’ve had. I had the beef on the Sunday menu. Beautifully cooked! ... and the roasts are the best I’ve ever had!

Nice place for cake and coffee. Lovely atmosphere. Bit pricey, especially the course menu, which was OK but not as tasty as the cakes and some previous stews and savoury dishes they did previously.

Surprisingly good, a real hidden gem. A nice little place under Erith Library. A nice pop kitchen who are focusing on local and seasonal produce (mostly Kent), only by booking and Pre order to reduce food waste. 3 course menu for £30. Wines around £25 per bottles. Super friendly welcome and service. On Friday night, we usually to go to our local. But on this occasion, I wanted something different. We decided to Pre order all the food so we can sample everything. Courgette flower stuffed with ricotta was the highlight starter, simple but so right. The halibut and lamb rump were amazing The granola as dessert (clever), and I am not a big fan of cheesecake for various reasons, however that one was the best I ever try Oven baked, still warm when it came to the table, red fruit marmalade with the right amount of sourness, a delish.. Highly recommend this hidden gem If you are local, you must try it If you are not local, you must try it

It was such an unexpected visit and we must say we are so glad we found this little place! We popped by on a Friday evening and tried all 9 items on the three courses (3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts) between 2 and all the dishes were so beautifully presented, delicately seasoned and delicious. The highlight for us was the deep fried courgette flower, the lamb with grilled summer vegetables and the fluffy, warm cheesecake. We must come back for the cheese and charcuterie which appears to be from local suppliers and brunch which looks to have raving reviews! We also have to say the service was so warm and kind, made us feel so special and we could feel such love for the place. It’s the kind of place you want it to grow into the neighbourhood place where everyone feels so proud to have and it’s the kind of place you want in your neighbourhood forever. We definitely will be back soon and we hope people will try this place out!

We visited tonight for their set menu which was absolutely amazing! The crab salad was lovely and the lamb rump to die for! Desert was beautiful too. Staff offered wines to pair with the food which were excellent and oh my! The Honey Vodka was literally soooo drinkable I've ordered bottle! Would highly recommend this place not only for the food but the service, the ladies serving and cooking were just amazing and very attentive. Just great to have a business like this so close to us. Sorry no pics of food because I was so eager to tuck in I forgot!

My sister has visited here a number of times in the last year and so it was the perfect place to go for her birthday brunch especially when we were catering for different tastes and preferences in the food. Firstly it's a great venue, spacious, light and airy. The tables are a great size and although communal the seats aren't crammed together so there's space to eat. The staff are lovely. The brunch menu was varied and had plenty of veggie options. The food was cooked really well and plated up beautifully with a nice salad dressing. Between us, we had scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon, smashed avocado on toast with feta cheese, sausage and cheese toasted sandwich with onion marmalade and ham and cheese toasted sandwich with piccalilli. The ham was thick-cut ham off the bone not thin and plastic with little flavour. The bread used was toasted sourdough and some of the best I've ever tasted. We all said that we could our meals over again... or as one of my sisters said... it was so tasty you didn't want the meal to end. They are also licenced and so you can get a glass of something to go with your food. If you live near Erith this is well worth a visit, they also do food in the evening cakes etc. And afterwards why not go for a walk on Erith Pier? I thoroughly recommend The Bookstore in Erith and I'd love one of their sandwiches now... At £6 it was a really well priced brunch and some of the dishes were cheaper.

We have lived in the area for 4 years now and when we heard this cafe was opening its doors we were really excited! We frequently visit The Bookstore Cafe with friends and family and we absolutely love it. The prices are beyond reasonable and the quality of the food is just brilliant. They also do great a job of putting on events for the local community and there is always something cool going on whether it be a themed night for dinner, games night, workshops or pop-ups! Couldn't recommend this place enough!

We have been visiting The Bookstore a couple of times a week, since the opening day in Feb and just can't stay away. We love it and so does everyone we've ever brought with us! Our little boy either falls asleep, as he's so relaxed when we visit or he cries when we have to leave, because he's had such a good time! The food is gorgeous, with a great selection of top quality homemade dishes, all reasonably priced. Loads of lovely drinks to choose from, including wines and local beers. The themed evening menu of a weekend is always exciting and it's a big bonus that this cafe is open late some nights. They have lots of events on in the cafe and the old library, game nights, markets and concerts, etc, so it's definitely worth being added to the mailing list or following them on Facebook. There is a large, calm, pretty and relaxed outside area and plenty of space for prams, etc, inside and they have good safe and sturdy high chairs. Immaculate and roomy changing facilities, so you can wheel the pram in, if you're visiting solo with your munchkin (that dad's can use too... So extra brownie points deserved for that). The owners & staff couldn't be more welcoming and lovely. What more could you ask for? I very regularly come for a solo coffee/bite to eat and never feel uncomfortable visiting on my own. Its just such a welcoming place to be. A much needed addition to the area. ❤️ x

This café has got to be to best place to go for stunning food, great coffee and friendly staff. I came in today for cakes for work, and they were just delicious. Chocolate brownies, flapjacks, lemon drizzle cake and carrot cake, all baked to a high standard. The café was very clean and tidy, and has a very homely feel to it, the atmosphere makes you want to stay and help out! The toilets are in good order with the décor in keeping with the building. The café is family friendly, all the staff a happy to help with children and people in higher numbers alike.I love this café and will pop in any time I can.

We’ve been coming here to eat since the opening weekend at the start of 2019 and every single time we’ve eaten well! The poached eggs with salmon and hollandaise are always cooked perfectly and my other half is a big fan of the ham, mustard and cheese toastie! Can also recommend the French toast, pancakes, sausage and mash and the quiche and salads. Finally, do yourself a favour and stop by on a Saturday to get a slice of the Saturday Special cake... it’s always a sight to behold! If you’re in the mood for a yoga class or want to learn more about the history of the old library, this is also the place for you! Thank you so much for coming to Erith and brightening up the cafe scene - the community is a better place because of you!

I came here for Brunch on a sunday with friends including kids and a baby. Highchair and changing tables are both available to use. We all really enjoyed the food and had eggs and pancakes. Its all freshly made and came out rather quickly. Its a cute place to eat and theres an outside area where you can sit as well. There is a big wooden Connect 4 to keep you entertained. I ll definitely come back to try the cakes next time.

We came Wednesday morning for breakfast. I had the poached eggs with salmon on sour dough bread & my husband had the pancakes. Relaxed evening in beautiful sunshine at the Bookstore Cafe yesterday. Friend's birthday and what a little gem of a place. Delicious food, real tea and coffee, and great staff. It is a cafe, but more like you would find around Borough Market than in downtown Erith. A not-for-profit organisation and top job. They had a buffet style pick n mix last night (prepared fresh by the afternoon chef and from locally sourced ingredients) but they are recruiting for an evening chef and then will offer food to order similar to their daytime menus. I've rated mid-range prices, as it's a cafe, not mid-range in terms of a la carte restaurant. Try it!

A beautiful gem of a cafe/restaurant with quality food, drinks and service. They really bring something fresh and innovative in comparison to the other eateries in Erith. Slightly hidden away in The Old Libary (opposite Bexley college) it's a real find.

Wonderful independent cafe in refurbished historical building. The food is fresh, delicious, and creative, not your standard cafe fare. Menu changes daily so there's always something new to try. Very reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and there's a nice neighbourhood vibe.

We received a warm welcome and friendly service. The tuna melt panini was done to perfection and although there wasn't much side salad with it, at least what there was fresh and crisp. The coffee was full-flavoured and the cup filled.

Small traditional pub with friendly locals and walkers Music at weekends, open mic and quiz nights. Good food based in garden put you can eat meal in pub . Good for watching football as most people enjoy it without the usual macho tribal rubbish

Tucked away at the back of Highams Park, this venue is of the highest standard if you are a lover of the traditional English brekkie. Whilst other establishments would serve cheap bacon and sausages, Maurgies serve thick juicy bacon and quality bangers!! Bravo
