The best restaurants in Canonbury Islington London

I love the food here but the staff are never very friendly. I went yesterday and even though the place was still open for another 40 minutes they were irritable about us sitting down and then started spraying really strong detergent everywhere and literally mopping under our chairs!

Chelsea was an absolute star who made the afternoon and evening special for us. She looked after us by constantly checking in on us, asking if we wanted food or drinks. Very rare to have such good service in London. We will be back as a result. Thanks Chelsea

A friend and I where walking around the Highbury & Islington area when we decided to grab some food and drinks at The Canonbiury. We grabbed a table on the patio and ordered drinks and food from the app. We waited over 20 minutes for our food and drinks and watched several other tables walk on after us and get served. I went in to the bar to ask about our order and the guy working said he would look into and get our order. Several minutes later he came to our table and informed us that the food we ordered was no longer available. He was very apologetic and then said he was going to get our drinks. Another 20 or minutes later our drinks still hadn't arrived and it was time for us to leave. I went into the bar and watched as three bartenders helped anyone who walked on after us and left the poor guy to stumble through making our drinks. I asked him if I could get them to go and after a few questions about how much time we had he agreed to put them on a paper cup. A bartender then gave him some very basic instructions and he went on making a drink that was ordered of their speciality drink menu. An hour after we arrived I finally received my drinks and a credit to the guy that was helping us, he was amazing but hie wasn't a bartender and he really wanted to make it right for us. Too bad no one working that day wanted to help him. I'd like to think it was a one off experience and if im in the area I might give them another chance.

Tuvimos una noche maravillosa aquí el sábado. Quería un lugar fácil para conocer amigos para algunas bebidas de cumpleaños y Manuel y el equipo eran extremadamente serviciales.

Visited here today and had a great breakfast! Was so happy to find they did Turkish coffee!!! Amazing value for money and the service and staff were incredible!! Will definitely be back!

This is my local and I've been coming here for over a year since I moved to Islington. It's a quiet bar with great clientele. It's decorated wonderfully with plants and has nice low lit lighting. The landlord has been nothing but welcoming since my partner and I first started visiting. They put on some amazing Jazz nights on Thursdays. Their selection of beers is quite niche which is a nice change from the usual selection you get at most other pubs. The garden out back is nice and cosy with outdoor heaters and fairy lights. You won't be disappointed!

I made the mistake of ignoring the bad reviews, thinking “how bad can they be?” Cue two hours of them saying that either the food had been delivered or that it was on its way, when neither was true. It never came and they were horrible on the phone when I tried to complain. For your own sake, avoid at all costs
