Sutton and sons Fish & Chips in Islington

I love the food here but the staff are never very friendly. I went yesterday and even though the place was still open for another 40 minutes they were irritable about us sitting down and then started spraying really strong detergent everywhere and literally mopping under our chairs!

I order regularly from Deliveroo and the Vegan offering is amazing! They literally have everything from Vegan fish, Vegan fishfinger sandwich, Vegan Pies and Vegan sausage and scampi, and they all taste delicious. My only comment would be, I prefer crispy chips, but that seems to be hard from most chip shops.

Absolute shocking meal I ordered skate tonight 22ndMay it turned up and It was inedible dry overcooked the worst I've ever had tried ringing to Complain no answer, I will never use this shop again it should close down I paid good money and binned it, disgraceful

Third time in a year that Sutton and Sins Essex Road branch have left something off our delivery order. Food is great, service is terrible.

This review is just for the service, not the food (the food is fine). My husband made an order via deliveroo, but I had to contact the restaurant because I have dietary requirements (pregnancy+additional health issues). The only option is via phone (their website has only one phone number and there is no other option: email, chat, facebook, text...) I called them about 20 times and nobody answered the phone. Obviously, the order came but I was not able to eat anything. Completely unacceptable for a restaurant to not be contactable!

They send my order but without the chips, so ruining our whole meal, unfortunately, most of it had to go in the bin, as they didn't deliver the key product, the chips! how can you forget such a thing! they didn't even re-send me the chips, instead said I can deal with deliveroo. A totally horrible first and last experience.

Delicious, delightful and desirable! These three words are the best description for a portion of chips from Sutton and sons. It is a grassroots establishment in Islington, which provides a place for well cooked food. There are no other words or ways to describe how eating these chips can make me feel. Much anticipated in eating what is front you can be seen as a way forward. Very uncompromising in their way of thinking.

Just felt like something simple, and felt like eating in, they do take away. Around 6:00pm a good line up of locals ordering mainly takeaway for the family dinner. Welcomed with a smile, asked about eating in, table service provided, menu offered, great options and a range of fresh fish, I had the Monk fish in batter with chips, just done to perfection, had it with salt and fresh lemon. Excellent, all of $12 pounds. Worth the effort.

Sit in and enjoy. Make sure to take the oysters if they are on the menu. Great value at £8.95 for 6.

Went as a group of three. We all had fish and chips and they were really amazing. Very fresh fish and really long fat chips. Cooked freshly for us. Batter light and crisp. The venue looked very clean

Cannot begin to describe how good this dish was! If you're vegan and you miss eating fish and chips - you must go here. All made from banana blossom and was simply delicious! Crispy chips, crispy batter, - and prosecco...all perfect!

If you like grease this it the place for you, vile also over priced compared to other local fish and chip shops

shame about the rude reception. WHen I sat down to eat being told that I didn't have the right to sit down with my takeaway even though I only asked chips, not takeaway, is not cool. He then pointed at a sign that I'm supposed to read instead of being asked if I want to eat in or not. So no, not good service or welcome I would expect from anywhere. Won't be comt back

We were in the area and decided to give the vegan fish and chips a try as you can’t get them in many places. Superb crispy chips and very tasty banana flower which was in a lovely batter, Would highly recommend as they have several vegan items on the menu.
