Friendly welcoming and very efficient for a sudden group of 9 women!
We all chose different food and drinks -the choice of sandwiches really good and very reasonable able -we can recommend the coffee cake too!
This was an amazing find one summer and now I always try them out whenever I find them. There are a fantastic variety of flavours - my favorite is the black pudding one - all crispy coating and lovely soft egg,,,,mmmm
Right here we go …..
Buried in the middle of the rackheath industrial estate I was wandering to find a coffee while I had a tow bar fitted to my car …. 3 hours to kill in a warehouse district isn’t that easy!
I stumbled across this place …..
Outside: on road parking outside and a small seated area with a picnic bench, despite this appearing to fit smokers no butts were lying around, brightly coloured and vibrant outside appearance was welcoming and eye catching, it really stood out amongst the industrial greys of all those around it.
Inside: you walk into an open area with 6 tables (22 covers) and 4 couches around 2 coffee tables, very clean and well maintained, greens in here are pastel and more easy on the eye. Has world war 2 memorabilia adorning the walls.
Staff: all the staff are well presented polite and very personable, and couldn’t do enough for you,
Coffee: Green farm coffee and barista made, think they used semi skimmed milk, possibly been a fuller coffee with whole milk, but still delicious
Food: I ordered a steak burger with cheese, it came and was 6oz as standard, with Monterey jack cheese, at £5.25 this was in a huge bun and full of salad. The only down point was the margarine in the roll of the burger, it detracted away from the flavour, and when it’s an Angus steak burger you want the flavour! And as a bargain they upgrade to a portion of chips on top for £1
I spent 2/3 hours here and had several coffees,
I wouldn’t hesitate to come back at all spot on little gem in the middle of industrial madness
Bullet points:
- good food
- good coffee
- nice staff
- clean
- very well priced
Amazing food and served with a smile.. Tina was very happy to engage in chat and bring the food to the table, also made sure we had enough papers😉.. highly recommend the race cafe.
For the last year I have been working at Hemel Hempstead. This cafe was recommended by a contractor as a good place to eat. They were not wrong. Everytime my team and I are in Hemel we always go to Maylands Cafe. The place is spotless, excellent prices, excellent food and the staff are always helpful and polite. The hot drinks are superb and the cost is really good. The location offers decent parking in the immediate location and the food is both tasty and quick. They can get busy at certain times, however we normally get there just after 8am and get served, seated and fed rapidly. This is how one of my fav places to go when in the area.
East Point Pavilion, Royal Plain, Lowestoft The Pavillion, England
Highly recommend the Steak Colorado burrito. It was a delight for the senses, an explosion of flavours and left me contently full. Can’t wait to visit again to try more on the menu. Great staff, who were friendly and attentive. See you again soon!
I have been eating at fireaway pizza in the Marlowes Hemel Hempstead for a while now and I have to say they are the best pizza restaurant that I have tried in the town. The pizzas are amazing and aunthic always piping hot. The staff are very friendly and great to chat too. Other pizza restaurants that I have tried before change so much more and put on deals that make you want to go back yet are overpriced to start with so you are not actually making any saving. Fireaway charge you a good price for great service and great food. Thank you Fireaway.
Ususally have takeaways from local restaurants. My neighbour recommended the Akash. The food was excellent well cooked abnd on time when I went to collect it.
Will definately be usuing the Akash in the future.
