The best restaurants in Northaw and Cuffley Welwyn Hatfield East of England

Been here for Sunday lunch a few times now… the roasts and sharing platters/boards are amazing! This time there was a brilliant magician too to entertain my son. Amazing food, great atmosphere and great service. Fabulous!

4 of us went to The Orchid for a birthday tapas meal. We ordered a variety of dishes and a paella. Everything was freshly cooked and really enjoyable and the service was friendly and efficient. Full marks to Simon for running this business which is such an asset to Cuffley. It is lovely to feel so welcomed even if you just pop in for a coffee earlier in the day.

Another great evening at Haus - 9 of us out for my Daughter's Birthday. Really went to town on ordering and all was so good. Prawn toast is perfect! Sushi so nice too. Teriyaki Ribeye one of our faves as was full rack of ribs but all dishes great. Lovely cocktails - our fave is the Lychee Blossom. Fab atmosphere and lovely service! Decor is wonderful too. Consistently first class, fresh fish cooked to order great chips homemade tartare sauce etc friendly professional competent staff.

Three of us had this week's non veggie meal and were happy with just about everything. The delivery was spot on, the food was hot - obviously freshly prepared - and the meal was good and tasty. We are big eaters so could have done with slightly larger portions but next time we will add some extras. I found it tricky to order for 3 - perhaps the method could be made more transparent. I look forward to trying this service again in the not too distant future. They deserve success.

I had dinner last night with my wife for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. The food was very well presented and very tasty. We had starters to share, she had the seafood risotto and I had the ribeye steak, and chocolate cake to share. Thank you.

Great friendly place with great food and service went there on the 7th may 2023 , today 20th the service was little to slow and the menu has been wittled down to not much choice no ribs which disappointed me, I still go but not as often as I did before

I love having a Costa Coffee good staff very friendly and polite lovely place to have a coffee with friends or just to have a coffee and unwind and relax. Unfortunately they are closing there doors on 16th December 2023.

Wide range of food to suit all tastes and reasonable prices. All meat is cooked in front of you and all fresh. Choose your own salads, and have as much as you want.

Had the Sunday roast today. Portions are just enough, not too much and not too little. Taste is ok. But the service is just poor! Starting off with the drinks, the lady taking our order had to go back to the bar to find out which ciders they have. Two of the drinks were served and we were asked again what else is/are missing. For desserts, she doesn't know which crumble they have or even the ice cream they have. It took more than half an hour for the pudding to arrive just for ice creams, sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble, they must have forgotten as I had to go to the bar to follow up. And when the ice cream came, one got served vanilla ice cream which she sent back when she specifically ordered 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream. For a limited menu, I don't think that's confusing at all nor a reason for poor service. It's such a disappointment really. In response, I did express my concern. I even went to follow up our dessert order. The only response was, "it will be ready in 5 mins. Are you in a hurry?" No apology for the delay.

This is our go yo place and has been since 1998. The food is of the highest standard and a good portion. The staff are swift, efficient and friendly. The place is clean and a welcoming environment. We usually have Tandoori or Tikka Chicken and occasionally a Chicken Korma. Over the years, l have tried most of the dishes, and they are all perfect.

UPDATE - the response you see below is clearly to try and save face as this is in the public domain. 6 months has passed and despite multiple calls and emails to the email address Doug details below. We have not received our refund. Doug is a scammer. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. Me and my family had a stay booked in May but unfortunately had to cancel because the restaurant was due to be closed due to a change in owner days before our trip. We were promised a refund, several emails and phone calls to the owner, Doug, who each time sweet talked me and told me he was going to transfer the money. It has been 2 months now and I still have not received my money back. It is clear I have been done over and fobbed off so unfortunately we are now having to pursue a case with the small claims court. We were planning on visiting later this year but definitely won't be now, customers lost. By the looks of things we aren't the only ones who have had this type of treatment!

Ordered the roitissery chicken it was dry burnt and cold. Was very disappointed with the food. The staff were polite. Wouldn’t go there for dinner again. We only went there because we couldn’t not get a booking at the wonderful bulls head restaurant in Turnford

Great food, great service. Was really happy with the service and the quality of the food. Really tasty and was a great business meeting.
