Ordered the roitissery chicken it was dry burnt and cold. Was very disappointed with the food. The staff were polite. Wouldn’t go there for dinner again. We only went there because we couldn’t not get a booking at the wonderful bulls head restaurant in Turnford

Pleasant atmosphere with attentive service. Shame my meal of Steak Pie & Ale was microwaved and scorching in places to make it hot and barely warm in other places. It had obviously been prepared much earlier but I would have expected it served warmed through evenly. I shall not hurry back.

The Plough is my local pub & I don't generally like to give negative reviews but the food is very hit and miss and lately it has got worse. A good option used to be the fish & chips, the fish over the last month or so has got so much smaller and you get more batter than fish. Previously it would have been considered the small portion option but now they only have one size and are charging for the regular, even though it's small. Yesterday I had the chicken & ham pie. The pie was good the mash was dense & hard, the gravy was practically solid & the veg was like mush. With pubs closing every day, they really need to up their game & get someone in the kitchen who can cook.

My wife & I had a great time at The Plough a couple of days ago. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The menu had everything on it that we could have wanted - we were spoilt for choice, from starters to mains, to deserts and the prices were reasonable compared to the local competition. There was nothing wrong with the food and the atmosphere was fine. Would highly recommend it - when asked, I was told that you need to book for Sunday lunches, it is that popular! Would highly recommend it.

nice clean pub, excellent service from liam attentive and concise. we ordered the liver & bacon special me and my partner it was delicious melted in our mouths and very presentable... this would be 5* star review but the atmosphere let it down for us the manager on duty abruptly stormed downstairs when a server asked them a question, slammed the door to the cellar this was all in view as we was facing the drama unfolding, set a really bad vibe from that moment on you could feel a negative atmosphere between all the servers out front.... If we wanted to watch this we'd of ordered a take-away and put Corrie or EastEnders on the telly... Very unprofessional of the manager and the matter should be dealt with....

The pub and staff were pleasant. The menu is uninspiring. The food is below par. I ordered a New York burger that comes with the promise of bacon, cheese, burger sauce additions. Although all of these were present, they were of a very sad, dried out, depressing appearance. The burger patty itself, an item which with no formal culinary training whatsoever, I would consider quite easy to make well, was thin, dry and tasteless. The chips accompanying were, however, lovely. I had dessert purely and simply because I was enjoying spending time with my friend. What arrived really wasn’t worth the bother. The spotted Dick was a grey spongy mound that I’m almost sure had been zapped in a microwave to a blistering temperature. Sadly, overall, the food presented itself as that prepared at convenience, without any care, expertise or taste. It smacked of pre-prepared corporate rubbish. On the plus side, it was cheap. My verdict- go to harvester. At least it is not pretending to be something better.

I was here for a meal with family members. The Plough is a nice looking pub and the food is on the whole good and you get large portions. I think waiting staff could give customers steak knives for people having steak and not be asked about this. Chicken, burgers, fish and chips are all good but the Rump Steak is tough and chewy - burnt on the outside and raw in the middle.

The menu had a great selection to choose from with the food and drink they offer. The staff are very warm and friendly which makes us want to return again soon, especially as all the food was very nice that we ordered too. What was nice is that even though they was a little busy all the food and drinks came out within good time, and the staff are happy to have a little conversation and recommendation of what to eat and drink, which goes a long way. Really nice place to go with family or friends, food or drink.

We had our works Christmas meal on Friday evening. Some of the group waited so long for their mains that some others had eaten theirs. My starter was good but main from Christmas pre order vegetarian choice was cold and inedible. It was covered in a red sauce which was pretty much like tomato sauce from a bottle. All over the meal so it was difficult to scrape it off. Could not eat it as veg was very undercooked and also cold. I felt sorry for the waitress as it was not her fault. Sack the chef. I have visited before and it is very hit and miss as to whether it will be a goog meal or not. Plough in Cattlegate Road much better so choose there instead.

Five of us called in for lunch on a Saturday, not expecting it to be so busy – we hadn't booked because we didn't think it was necessary. However, there were lots of tables with 'reserved' signs on them, so a very helpful sever told us we could sit in the bar area if we wished. It wasn't nearly so nice and cosy in there, and only had small tables, but we thought we may as well stay now we were here. The, just after we'd sat down, the same server appeared and told us there had just been a cancellation for one of the reserved tables, so we could go in the restaurant after all!

The waitress was slow in giving us menus. We ordered drinks, again these were slow to arrive. The food was adequate. On ordering a second drink of orange and lemonade we had to wait over 20 minutes and constantly kept asking only to be told it was on it's way. Its a lovely little not too far from me. I go here now and then. We came last week and sat on the little table between the back door and the till. It was a hot sunny evening and I think the back door leading to the smoking wasn't greatly placed in a good area in the restaurant. Us and the tables around us were trying to enjoy our meals and customers kept walking past us constantly with smoke air coming in the door. It was a bit annoying, the back door should lead from the bar area really and only be used as an emergency fire exit.

We came here for lunch and were initially impressed by the decor and the staff. Menu was huge so we chose prawn cocktail and grilled halloumi for starters. Prawn cocktail came with nice crusty brown bread but was bland, the halloumi was served in cubes on a skewer with peppers and onion and were lovely. For mains, I went for steak and ale pie - which was served up in a really unappetizing way - it came with mushy peas and mash and it was all just thrown into a bowl, with the pie sitting on top of everything and smothered in a congealed gravy. There was also a spoon of mint sauce which just didn't do anything for the dish and if anything clashed with the subtle flavour of the pie. Pie was tasty, mash was microwaved and just too much gravy with skin on it. My husband had rositerie chicken with steak which was served with fries and coleslaw. Chicken looked dry but my husband enjoyed it. This with 2 glasses of wine and a tonic water came to £41

Having just moved to the area,(formerley lived in Goffs Oak(.It's nice to find a Pub that is friendly, and that serves good Sunday Lunches.I have eaten here now three times, and all were above standard. The food is served hot, which is a big plus, many pubs serve up luke warm food, that is cold by the time you finish. There is normally a choice of three roasts on a sunday, all served with roast potatoes, and several veg+a big yorkshire.Of course there is the every day menu, which is not huge, but something for everyone there. What helps is the extremely efficient and friendly staff, who top you up with drinks if required, and are on hand to ensure you've got everything you need to enjoy your meal. The bar staff are also very amiable, all in all a pleasant place for Sunday dinner.I should also mention that the roasts come in three sizes, most people would find the regular size more than enough.Look, this is not A La carte dining,it doesn't pretend to be,just good value Sunday roasts, give it a try,but it's best to book in advance, this is becoming quite a popular place, they've even got a regular stoker in attendance, who keeps the lovely log fire topped up.

Very attentive and constantly checked on us during the whole of our stay to see if we needed anything. Was lovely to have suggestions of what food, such as the specials and what wines we could have. He made the experience thoroughly enjoyable and I will definitely be returning again. Thank you. Mrs Hardwick, cheshunt.

We went to The Plough for Christmas Day Lunch and it was faultless. It has a new manager in Jon and ably assisted by Sophie he produced a really good experience. Nardean, our waitress, made the meal an enjoyable experience with her happy smile and attention. Good food, good service at a reasonable price. Already booked for next year. It is not a huge pub so you do need to book early for special occasions. Although not on duty on Christmas day we have had great service in the past from Lucy, Remy and Charly among others.

The Plough made our Boxing day a great experience. We were a party of seven adults and four children. Nothing was too much for the attentive staff who were very busy but happy to help. Food was excellent and large portions. We have had many celebration dinners here and will be visiting again in the near future.

Just got back from a great meal with friends at The Plough. Great service and great food. Both Charlotte and Charlie looked after us like royalty. Service was spot on and enjoyed the friendly banter with the staff. Great job and thanks for a great relaxing evening. Will be back for lunch tomorrow. Cheers

We live not far from The Plough in Goff's Oak and visit the plough roughly once a month. Popped in for a few early evening drinks and a bite to eat last Saturday - had a couple of pre-dinner drinks the in the bar first and then moved round the corner to the restaurant. Food was great and really reasonably priced, staff were polite and attentive. Loved that the 2 areas felt quite separate, the restaurant felt a lot more relaxed and private and the bar had a lovely friendly buzz. Our experience was nothing like the reviews below with a bad crowd - we had a wonderful evening as always.

the menu looked very promising and we were very excited about our meal. We ordered Nachos to start, the tortilla chips were not the usual kind and had a strange flavour. I ordered the salmon for a main which came with vegetables. The dish on a whole was completely tasteless, NOTHING had been seasoned. the salmon tasted like oil and did not have a fresh taste at all. the boiled potatoes were plain and dry, again no seasoning. The vegetables were so over cooked they were mushy and drenched in butter. There was also no accompanying sauce with the dish so it was dry.. My sister had the burger, which did not look appealing in the slightest, almost like a mcdonalds burger size. After tasting the burger it was burnt and disturbing to the palette the chips tasted like cheap frozen chips. The service wasn't great after receiving the bill we waited 20 mins for us to finally grab someones attention and bring over a card machine. However the servers were very friendly, just a shame about the food!

I genuinely felt like I was sitting in a wetherspoons in Harlow. There was a bunch of young teens who were very loud, the amount of noise was unacceptable and disrespectful to others trying to enjoy their evening. I felt as if the bar maid had a slight crush on one of the young boys, is this why the rowdy young crowd were not told to quieten down? The night was ended terribly with one of the bar staff screaming at everyone to leave, as a customer I felt most distraught. I did not expect to be treated the way I had after spending an evening in the plough. The member of staff with the black bobbed hair and fringe was very abrupt and I'll-mannered. I shall never return to the plough in Cuffley!

I'm a 47 year old married woman who decided to have an evening out with her sister her 19 year old daughter who's away at university and visiting and her friend..I cannot express the disgust and horror of a crowd of young men and women that proceeded to shout hollow and bang tables for for seemed like a lifetime..and not one of your staff intervened not apprehended anyone at the table.I've lived in Cuffley 20 years and have lived in London also, but I cannot say that I've been anywhere and the staff have not asked customers to have some respect for other customers. Is the manager or lady in charge with the dark hair a friend or associate to these people ?? Are they poor little rich rude and dragged up young 18/19 year olds with zero respect and does the plough live by these rules??Please advise, I'll shall be on Twitter ASAP

I vivid yes here with my family for my dad's birthday. The food was tasty and the service was exceptional, as always. The only negative of our visit was that the food took very long to come out, hence a long waiting time even though we was visiting during a quiet night in the week

Was really pleased with the menu, as there was a wide variety of tasty options, which all sounded lovely. We ordered nachos as a starter to share between us. These where disappointing as they where almost battered and crispy, not regular mexican style ones we are used to. There was little sauce toppings on the nachos, and the salsa resembled a chutney and full of onions. I ordered a burger. The meat was really bland and poor quality, almost like a fast food chain burger. Additionally the meat was burnt which made it difficult to eat. I left all of my chips - which is really rare - they were completely tasteless and just awful. Service was really slow, our bill arrived at 6.10 and a pdq machine wasn't brought to us until 6.30, which we had to ask for in the end. Will not be returning, and even had to grab a sandwich from m and s on the way home as was hungry and wanted something that had some taste! Our favourite is the Duke of York in Barnet, so head there if your looking for great service and good pub grub!

Decided to give this place a try after a bad experience many years ago. My friend and I had a very good meal served by Charlotte a very pleasant and helpful waitress. The food was excellent and could not fault anything. It shows that any pub or restaurant can have a bad day and you should give another chance. I'm glad to know I can now walk to a local pub/restaurant without having to drive for miles. Well done to the staff at the Plough keep it up.

Hubby and I often pop into here after shopping for a bite to eat (best to phone to check availability) and never disappointed. Well once with starter but no problem, lovely waitress took it away and took off the bill. No fuss! The staff are always lovely and friendly and the food is nice. It's pub food! A lot better than some pub food. Always a good atmosphere and lovely clean modern place. Always look forward to going here

Me and my family went here for lunch a few weeks back and couldn't praise it enough, seated without a booking which we didn't think we would be considering it was quite busy. The menu had changed slightly but all the traditional things like fish and chips was still on there, staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. My husband wanted to try one of the wines, which he could do....not many places do that, and we was recommended one too.We had to wait a bit for food but we was told this just not left waiting around, like some other places we have visited do.All in all a very pleasant experience, and the new manager is lovely think he will do very well there.

The drive was nice with view of the country roads. On arrival rooms are very basic not much to view apart from the Pods and fields. Unfortunately, there are no facilities at the hotel e.g. spa, gym, etc just a bar with small sitting area that closes at 12am. As your in the middle of no where you literally spend time in the room & go dinner then back to room😮‍💨 The hotel doesn't offer any other food e.g. Breakfast apart from the dinner which you pay for in the stay which is also overpriced. Personally, Food & drinks overated it needs to be reviewed as you can get a better variety of quality food in other places especially local vendors on your high street. The building itself is historically beautiful for private hire as you can utilize the grounds but waste of money for travel, dine & stay. You can better value & quality in Holiday Inn! Recommend to visit Pods in London instead more to do for a day & night trip.

Very nice place for Sunday roast! We did the carvery and it was very flavourful. However because they give you 2 pieces of meat no matter what, if you do get the smaller end of the meat piece, like us, the portion is considerably smaller than if you get the 2 slices from the opposite end.
