The Inn has undergone a thoughtless renovation of furniture and decor. The 2024 renovation had stocked the rooms with locally made furnishings from Simon Pearce and Pompanoosuc Mills. The current attempt at mid century modern is colorblind and insulting. The decorators failed to consider The College, installing Yale Blue headboards and bedding runners. The multicolored heads in the artwork over the couch are pandering to multi culturalism while failing to recognize that all of the heads are shaped like a patrician white man. It is embarrassing. There is one cute print of Kemeny’s car with a BADIC license plate, but the rest of it is decorated like a typical Homewood Suites now. The Inn itself remains otherwise lovely. The staff are kind and welcoming, the bed is comfortable despite its ugliness, and the location at Dartmouth College (Yhe Home of The Big GREEN - not BLUE!) remains perfect.

We were here for lunch with an aunt who lives in Dovercourt. She came here at Christmas with friends and recommended it. Although it was off season, we booked a table as it’s a small pub. The food was good, with very generous portions. We can recommend the ham egg and chips and the salmon and broccoli fishcakes - but bring an appetite. The staff were friendly. Parking is limited and their car park is round the back.

Great location and nice decor, however to charge £6 for two teas in paper cups is unacceptable even if they are named designer tea bags and “responsibly sourced fully recyclable” paper cups, surely washing up real cups is kinder to the planet ? As said by others, this cafe has been recently taken over by another well known chain who have several other upmarket venues in the area. Perhaps they are trying to gain a monopoly hold in the harbour area ? My advice would be to try the burger van which is often parked up nearby for better value.

Absolutely lovely breakfast, in an attractive and quiet setting. Unlimited continental with loads of choice, unlimited tea/coffee/ Juices and full English with everything you could possibly want or expect on the plate. Not fir the feint hearted as the portions are large. Cooked to perfection. Served with a smile by courteous and attentive staff. The price is very fair (£9.50). What I had would have cost me a lot more in "Spoons" and wouldn't have been as good. Will be back again soon

Having visited the Alma before for food and drinks, we were excited to stay for the night this time, however we were absolutely wowed by the service from start to finish. From the moment we arrived we were given the warmest welcome and felt at home, the room was lovely- cosy, very clean and not at all noisy considering the pub downstairs was busy. The food was also exceptional on every occasion- we ate in the pub several times over the weekend and each meal we thoroughly enjoyed and were very impressed by the freshness and quality of the food (special mention to the crab linguine which was delicious!). However, the thing we were most impressed by was the customer service. Nothing was too much trouble and we truly felt so welcomed throughout our stay, it really was like a home away from home. Every single member of staff we dealt with was lovely and incredibly helpful. Couldn’t recommend highly enough
