Great Christmas Meal with colleges, I would give a 5 star review, but I was left feeling a bit offended or like i'd somehow offended the staff with my presence. Because unlike my 13 colleges, i was contantly being passed over to order drinks. I was only able to order my initial drink and then kept being passed over while my colleges all around were ordering lots of drinks.

Great service. Modern looking rooms with luxury hint. Amazing food. The only down side is that there is no arrows indicating your room number so you might need to check several doors before you find relevant corridor to your room. Otherwise, couldn't fault the place at all.

So disappointed that just over a week before Christmas, being in a Christmas party , wanting to celebrate Christmas,(!!)we weren’t allowed to choose from the Christmas Party menu!!Apparently it’s not available on a Saturday ! I’m assuming it’s because of profit margins (they’ll make more on the normal menu instead of the set price one) which just leaves me thinking profit means more to them than customers enjoyment ! Bah Humbug Milsoms , stop being so miserly !

Had a night away at The Pier to celebrate our anniversary. The evening meal was really yummy, lovely prawn cocktail and duck tacos for starters, fish & chips and chicken schnitzel for mains. Good wine and cocktails too. Pricey mind, but to be expected for the venue/location. Though I'm not sure I'll forget the price tag of a Guinness 0.0 in a hurry.......£8.25 for a can of non-alcoholic Guinness 🤦♂️ Unfortunately we did feel the room we were in let our stay down. On the plus side it was well decorated and a good size, with a great view of the harbour. The ensuite was really nicely fitted out too. But it was so cold when we arrived, and although once the heating was left on for a while it did warm up a bit, it soon got cold again in the morning. Not ideal in November. The floor was also slanted, so when you were in bed, especially on the window side, it felt like you were sliding out. Also, whilst the shower was nice and hot in the evening, in the morning it didn't get nearly warm enough again, despite turning it up to the maximum heat, not what you want to warm yourself up! I appreciate these issues are probably largely out of the hotel's control and likely due to the age/type of building. We stayed in the building over the road (room 12), not sure if the main building is any better. But they didn't help themselves either - the heating was on a timer which went off again fairly early in the morning, so any heat which was built up over night soon disappeared and we were freezing again by the time we checked out. On the plus side though, the breakfast in the morning was also excellent, one of the best eggs Benedicts I've had. And the older lady who served us was lovely too, really sweet. In fact, all the staff we met during our stay were great.

We loved this Hotel, the service was great, it's very dog friendly, the check in was the best and the food was delicious. The one thing that was not very inclusive was vegan options for meals. These are not included on the main menu and you have to find out they have a separate menu not accessible to all. You have to request to see it!!!! Like its a secret ... Very weird. We did however discover it and enjoyed tempura cauliflower with sauce and tagliatelle. A mention to Gill on reception and Caroline breakfast server and Tom in Bar for being so hospitable.

Plenty of staff as the restaurant was almost empty. Ordered wine and the sommelier brought the bottle and promptly started to overfill our glasses. When asked if we should have tried the wine first she mumbled "if you want"White wine was fine, but a large glass half filled when the temperature is 30 deg. is not to be advised. It could have been worse as at another Millson establishment in Kesgrave they simply plonk the bottle on the table without comment! So this is now fine dining. No lobster and suggested Market Fish instead, which was Sea Trout. Piece of overcooked fillet 3 inches square, with four new potatoes and a few strands of Samphire. £26. Sorry but that is a rip off. Other dishes of cod and skate similarly priced were fine. Desserts also very good. 3 people £179 without a tip. I know prices have risen but this is crazy. And to add insult to injury the card machine they hand you is illuminated with buttons on the top almost demanding a tip of either 10%, 15% , 20% or other. I pressed cancel and gave, as I always do a cash tip in the hope the staff really do get it.

We dropped in to the pier restaurant without booking. The staff were very welcoming and polite and sat us at a table upstairs which was very nice. A young lady bought over the menu and I ordered lamb chops with new potatoes etc my wife had muscles. My meal came, thin cut chips not new potatoes. The chops were lovely. I would say almost half of my wife’s muscles were closed and could not be eaten. Overall opinion is that the meals ok. Why do all restaurants now serve cooked lettuce??? It is worth a visit but choose you food with care.

We stayed at the Pier Hotel and also had Dinner there and breakfast. The hotel has a small car park at the rear for 12 vehicles and the bedrooms are located in a separate annex across from the hotel. The annex has a great lounge for guests on the ground floor and the bedroom was fine with a selection of free soft beverages and tea and coffee. Nicely designed rooms and modern bathrooms. The Dinner was excellent and so was the service. Speciality is seafood and this did not disappoint, breakfast was really good as well. Great staff, knowledgeable and great food what was not to like and Harwich itself was a bit of a hidden treasure. Loved it and after reading the Daily Telegraph 9/10 review would totally agree after staying there.

Having dined well at other places in the Milsom's catering group we were not expecting the pleasant young waiter to have to come twice with things being unavailable - no cod nor one of the beers. If we were not guests I would have sent back the chicken and bacon open sandwiches as they had very little chicken and just one slice of bacon on a soggy piece of bread - not good value nor well presented.

Went to the Pier restaurant for a belated birthday treat. Not been before but certainly will again. Location was considerably quieter than I expected opposite the Halfpenny pier and we bagged the last table outside and watching the sun set over the estuary made for a lovely evening. We shared a couple of starters of crab croissant and smoked haddock scotch egg and both were excellent. Followed this with the Cod with lobster tagliatelle and samphire, again a terrific dish. Glad we ordered some chips just so we had something to mop up the delicious sauce! Plenty of wine available by the glass and, more unusually, 50cl carafe, of which we chose the Picpoul which was lovely with the fish. Sure there are cheaper places to eat but the food was worth the price.

Came in through the main entrance with a pushchair, which was not fitting through half door. Receptionist was just staring at me trying to push it through, when I have asked her to open the other half. Finally when I managed to push through, she stood up and started walking my way, but once the pushchair was in, she turned round and went back. I asked her how to get to the restaurant, she just said “down the corridor” not explaining where the lift was. The girl who brought the drinks was in some sort of rush, even though the restaraunt was empty and banged the coffee on the table, so the coffee spilled all over the saucer, never said a word. I have ordered mussels and a few mussels down there was long black hair in the dish. The waitress took it back and came out with an apology and that a new portion will be cooked. I have refused as I was not keen on eating anything after the hair in the food. When the bill was brought, the waitress pointed out “I have removed the mussels from the bill”, like she was doing me a favour not charging for them.

Visited Saturday sat in the downstairs as had dog with us. Sat waiting for our order to be taken the oldest man behind the bar had a thick dark beard I watched him serving then he started picking up glasses behind the bar and drying them. I always thought customers came first evidently not today. I then put my arm up and said can you take our order over he came order taken. Yes Summer is no doubt busier than Winter what with people sitting outside answer is employ more staff to cope with the busier trade which the years the Pier have been in business should know by now..Had what we wanted paid and left but it seems the regulars get attention first.

Down stairs at the Navy Yard they have an amazing selection of different drinks, you name it they have it, you can choose from a variety of cocktails, gins, beers and wines. They also have a smaller menu which is more bar food. I recommend the Afternoon Tea (pre booking needed) fantastic pastries and huge scones and a great selection of coffee and teas. I am on their e-mail mailing base and they told me about a "lobster" promotion, which ended today, 27th. I am a fan of lobster (my wife less so) but happily we booked. The restaurant was busy, it felt like half of Essex had turned out for lobster. My wife, not so hungry just had two "starters" instead. She loved them both. I had Escargots, serving very differently, which I really liked. I had a large lobster, chunky fries and salad. Totally yummy. I had the option with butter/garlic. Instead of "Lobster Thermidor"; the Pier like all seafood restaurant in the land, serve this option. Don't get it. Never had. Thermidor is covered in cheese, which in my (humble) opinion does not enhance the flavor of the meat. I was feeling in a greedy mood and unlike me I went for a panna-cotta desert. We had a nice "end of bin" Italian white wine. The whole meal was really nice, a great end of the bank holiday weekend with friends. I think I better go on a diet for a week. Enjoy.

Not much to say about the place, minimal disabled parking, due to the addition of EV bays, the toilets opposite the pier have a lift to the disabled loo, but this was broken due to water getting into the electrics. No sign to explain this is visible though, there is a accessable loo at the back of the Pier restaurant, as explained by the tourist info people. The only saving grace was the views out across the coastline.

My starter of Butternut Squash Soup served with little potatoes doughnut was just the right choice for me after having had so much food over the holidays Ì followed that with a Dover Sole (the catch of the day) fresh and meaty. Did not have a dessert but I shared a taste of my friend’s Sticky Toffee pudding which I found light and extremely delectable. The actual restaurant is upstairs, and it's very relaxing & chilled, with nice gentle background music, felt very relaxed & comfortable. Parking is too the rear but only about 8 spaces, Aldo parking out the front which is pay & display but I can imagine it gets quite hard to park at busy periods ie the summer time. Will definitely return as the food was beautiful, although it's higher price range than other restaurants, I will happily pay for that when the food & service is spot on.

Beautiful tasty food well presented, not cheap but the venue feels luxurious and no skimping on the quality of ingredients. I love that they play the shipping forecast in the bathrooms, very quirky. Only a couple of negatives; drinks expensive and sadly mojito was a little overpowered by excessive fresh mint. Also we both requested our meal to be served without pickles, two waitresses bought out both plates saying one had pickles and one didnt, then checked again and said oh no neither dish has pickles but we both found them inside the burgers. Only small niggles but its a shame they couldn't get the order correct. They did offer to rectify but we declined. Food tasty, well presented, amazing dessert -panna cotta. Portion sizes were ideal, anything more would be too much.

First time into Harwich town and patronised The Pier as it was located next to the pier. Beautiful and pleasant town overlooking Felixstowe. Enjoyed the whitebait which wasn't salty at all and perfectly paired with the sauce.

We had an afternoon tea booked here at the Pier Hotel Restaurant. This is one of our indulgences that we do at various locations around Essex. I’ll start with the food, lovely tasty finger sandwiches (which are the same everywhere) 4 each. A large fruit scone with cream and jam in little pans again very tasty (same as everywhere) 3 tiny mouthful cakes all with a choice of tea, coffee or soft drink. A very standard “afternoon tea”. On the website you are told of sea views - we had a pillar in front of us that if you craned your neck you could just about see the people sitting outside. We were offered balcony seating but it was forecast rain and very cloudy and would need to be set up which by the way it was offered was going to be an inconvenience ? Our teas were served to us with no milk, we waited about 25 minutes before the tier of food was presented to us even though we had to book a time in advance, the cream and jam were in two miniature saucepans between us with nothing to serve them up with other than the one knife that was obviously expected to be used to put in each serving of everything. I had to wait to catch a waitress to ask for the milk then again for extra cutlery. The staff stood around chatting to each other. Considering the price and the reputation of such an establishment we expected better. Attention to detail was somewhat lacking. Unfortunately don’t think it will be on our return list.

Excellent fish and chips in the 1st floor restaurant. The side dish of peas, beans and mangetout so tasty and perfectly cooked. Would like to see Guinness Zero as a choice for no alcohol drinks.

i have not been for ages as feel they got too greedy with prices and smaller portions which however nice is not justified where as used to go every week at one time, Husband had Scampi and chips but the ridiclous amount of mushy peas was a let down for a place that boasts high end dining. I had a Prawn Cocktail supposed to be a genuine version from the seventies but this had no Tomato why? it would improve the finished look of the dish no end. Surely a wedge of tomato Milsons can afford at the prices they charge. Then had a desert again agree with others on here the portion sizes are more for a child than an adult. Then a Craffe of coffee and home we came, If not careful they will lose a lot of custom if get anymore penny pinching than they already are, Most people will not be taken for being ripped off for too long.

Prima hotel. Personeel is erg vriendelijk. Kamers zijn oké. Schoon en ruim genoeg. Kit randen kunnen beter. Ontbijt is goed. Prima Keuze op de kaart. Avond eten was erg goed.

What a waste of time this chip shop is , closed Sunday and Monday and opens other times when it feels like it, we were there the other day 45 mins before they should close , he said he is out of chips , they are lazy, an opportunity for another chippy, this one has had its day .

Tasty steaks. Good portion sizes. Good selection of dishes. Dessert chocolate and pecan tart was a bit disappointing but fine. Staff were great, fantastic service. Wine very expensive. Though £35 for a bottle of Proseco was a bit over the top, but suppose you expect the price in a hotel.

A favourite restaurant of mine for years , but sadly no more ! Fish was tiny , minimal amount of chips, my beef stew was void of any meat , more like soup , charged £1.50 for a tiny bread roll to soak up the thin gravy , no extra veg served with it ! All in all extremely poor
