We visited this pub twice in one week whilst on holiday in the area and it was fantastic both times - pretty busy too, so it’s clearly a popular pub with both visitors and locals. The staff were really friendly, welcoming, polite and efficient. The menu was varied and interesting with some good specials as well - all fairly traditional pub food with nothing too unusual. The portions were vast, even the light bite options were plenty big enough. Everything we had (starters, mains, light bites & desserts) was delicious, the homemade cottage pie was particularly tasty and came with a generous portion of 4 vegetables (so much healthier than some pub offerings where a spoonful of peas is all you get). For mains the prices were very reasonable, especially the two light bites for £20 deal, but we did think £7.95 for a dessert was a bit high (it might have been acceptable for the homemade desserts, but the same price for a commercial microwaved sponge pudding was too much). The only other thing to mention was that we observed staff petting guests’ dogs on two separate occasions and we very much hope that they washed their hands before serving the next person’s food!!

Really cute little garden centre! I'm not local, i live about 45 mins away, but I drove past whilst on a work journey and popped in for a cheeky little browse... came out with a beautiful very healthy looking rose and a hydrangea! The staff on the tills were lovely and the place just had a really nice vibe to it. I'll definitely visit again when I'm in the area

We had a lively Sunday lunch today at the White Horse. Great atmosphere. The roast beef was excellent and would definitely come again if we were in the area.

We (two adults, both veggie) visited Juniper Barn this morning (a Sunday) for breakfast. We sat outside in the garden area in the sunshine - so peaceful and enjoyed watching the birds flitting about. We ordered a couple of teas, and the Turkish eggs and eggs hollandaise with added mushroom - both breakfasts were absolutely delicious, as indeed were our pots of tea! You could tell from the look and the taste that everything was made with fresh ingredients, although we didn't have to wait very long at all for our breakfasts to arrive. The portion sizes were generous and we felt very good value for money (we know of other similar barn-type cafes that would charge a lot more for something not as substantial). The young lady who served us (Rosie, I think) was incredibly polite and attentive throughout our visit, a real asset to the establishment. We were seduced by the wonderful cakes on the counter on the way out, and purchased a slice of lemon & blueberry and raspberry & white chocolate to takeaway, which were then carefully boxed up for us to take home. We've just enjoyed the lemon & blueberry slice which was again incredibly delicious, and I could quite happily have demolished the whole cake! So beautifully light and moist, and again good value for money (in-keeping with other places that offer similar homemade cakes). We'd have no hesitation in visiting again (despite it being a 35mins journey from where we live) and would also recommend to others. A really lovely find 😊

Food wasn’t very hot and there were lots of flies round the table. Food tasted okay but the pub felt dirty and the cutlery wasn’t clean. I tired to email rather than leave a review but nobody replied.

For years this Farm Shop has always been an enthusiastic 'must' stop when travelling on the A12. But maybe not so on the next journey. Yesterday, straight away, the once notable usual good vibe was missing. Apart from one member of staff - there was no attempt to make their customers feel welcome - robot methods were seemingly in operation. It is understood that it is now under new ownership and about to be revamped. It can only be hoped that the welcoming friendly atmosphere will return. But, a great pity that at the moment it is lost.
