We visit this often. Always been good food. High on the list for eating out.

A great pub for locals and visitors alike

Brilliant all round! We walked here from nearby village and stopped for lunch. Fantastic food which arrived quickly despite busy weekend crowd, lovely atmosphere (we sat outside in the calm and cosy garden), service was friendly and efficient — and must give an extra special mention to the owners for going above and beyond to help us find a way home when it started to rain…! Many thanks again and we’ll be back soon.

We both have been ardent detectorists followers since it was first screened. We have found many of the filmed locations, but this is far and away the best. Lovely food with a homely atmosphere. The owners are a credit to the pub. They also cater for coeliacs with good gluten free options.dogs are very welcome.

Phoned and booked for a bit of a family reunion two weeks in advance because we had our two dogs with us, turned up on the day and no booking was ever taken, the lady on phone seemed like she was in a rush, The young man on arrival tried his best to seat us in a corner but with two dogs there wasn't enough room, Lucky enough it was a warm day so we sat in the garden, The food was great, the garden was lovely, the young man was very helpful, good range of non alcoholic drinks. Driving 200 miles for some family time to find there was no booking was gut wrenching, The 1 star is for the Lady who forgot our booking and not for the service at the restaurant So thanks to the young man, all turned out well. No right pub, sorry I will be more precise, we had Suffolk ham with EGGS, halloumi burger with fries, sorry Google didn't list your exact menu

Some of the best traditional food that I have eaten in a long time. Reminds me of what an English pub truly is. Owners take time to make you, and the dog, very welcome. I will continue to shout about it and return often.

Visited in January for a light lunch, and to see where the detectorist was filmed. Great food and local ales ... in fact very friendly locals too. The lady on the bar was very nice, especially considering that my friend tried to redecorate the place with a glass of coke! would definitely recommend, if it was closer to Bolton I'd visit a lot more often... and they sell locally made jam.

The food was absolutely delicious, the lady behind the bar was very friendly and lovely. We will all definitely be back next time we visit Suffolk.

Three of us had lunch at the Crown today and what a joy it was. Pubs like this deserve to be congratulated for the quality of service and for the food on offer. There are chefs and chefs. This one seems to understand how to prepare simple, well cooked and well presented food all at a very reasonable price. Well done! There are chefs in London who would learn a thing or two from this establishment.

Sunday roast plus a veggie. They have a separate veggie menu, which was much appreciated. Food was really nice especially the gravy and the veggie gravy was particularly remarked upon. Unpretentious, decent quantities great atmosphere and nice folk running it. Nice walks nearby. Will be back.

Lovely country pub with superb food/beer & a very warm welcome. We stayed for the weds curry night - the meal was absolutely delicious & portion size generous! We would highly recommend & will definitely return in future :-)

We went because I wanted to visit the pub from "the detectorists". Was really cool. Beautiful pub, really atmospheric. Food was amazing, the owner was really lovely and friendly, and the chef was also really chill and accommodating (we were a little late for food , but he was more than happy to make us something anyway) Just a really great time :) so glad we went

One dish was excellent, the other not. I ordered the crab, chili and samphire pasta dish and it came out swimming in onions. I tried to eat it but the crab flavour was totally overpowered. When the staff came to ask how we were at the end I had left most of it and explained that there was no mention of onions on the menu, she said that the chef could have left them out, but how would I have known that it was going to be mostly onions? Luckily it isn't an allergy (we weren't asked), they just make me feel terrible so a food to avoid. I felt they were a bit offended as she said that no one ever complained before. My partner's sausage, egg and chips was absolutely fine and looked much better than my dish. We are local and sadly won't be back.

We adore this place. Beautifully kept. Interesting menu leading to pretty and delicious food. Lovely little garden with proper patio furniture. Best bit though, are the owners. Totally lovely people who are so welcoming and who can't do enough to cater for you. Just a wonderful experience every time we go. An absolute Suffolk gem.

A nice friendly, warm, local pub. It was an Italian night when we went, but if wanted different food was available. A lovely pub which served home cooked meals will definitely be going back.

Great pub with lovely staff! We called ahead and the kitchen was just about to close, but they kept it open for us. So glad they did, the food was lovely! Will go back if we are ever in the area again.

What a find, a wonderful country local pub, great atmosphere, friendly happy staff (a rarity these days) and local customers. The food was excellent and menu had a wide variety. Definitely will return again.

Very disappointing considering many good reviews on here. The service was staggeringly slow considering there were not that many customers. When the food arrived after a wait of 75 minutes it arrived on cold plates. Sorry, but the staff need serious training. was

Fantastic rural pub with a great landlord.

Popped in here as it was a location used in the detectorists TV series so we thought it would be fun to visit a quaint country pub. However, it was let down by a botched food order, they did apologise and discount the bill. Also food served on a narrow plank, can we just have a proper plate? Food was actually very tasty when it arrived.

Whenever we visit Framlingham we always make a visit to the Crown..... Cooked breakfast is one of the best around (Try the Brown sause)

I checked the website before which said food was served on Sundays until 3pm. I arrived just before 2:30 but was told they had stopped serving, which was disappointing and frustrating. I won't be returning as it's clear getting a meal depends on the whims of the management.

Great pub! Stayed opposite for a long weekend and visited the pub twice. Really friendly welcome from both staff and locals, nice garden and good food. Will be back!

Staff were lovely. Pub is lovely. The food was not good. We ordered roast beef. The vegetables were ok and meat ok.the roast potatoes tasted like rubber and the parsnips were not much better. Served in bowls ver difficult to cut your food

Great pub for the charming farming community, and great atmosphere indoors or outdoors; love the smokers corner and the rustic pig by the entrance. The Chef is brilliant..loves hot peppers esp. Chillies and if you are not a Chilli aficionado, dont bother talking to him... must try his Nuts! 🙂

Superb. Has to be up there in terms of one of my favourite country pubs in, er, the country. Staff couldn’t be more accommodating and the food is fantastic. Having visited in the run up to Christmas the place looks amazing with the decorations and fireplaces. Congrats to everyone at The Crown it’s a wonderful place to grab a drink or a meal. (Any Detectorists fans might recognise the interior as well…) Pub? Go on then.

Popped in after seeing the sign post on the A12 coming from Woodbridge. When we arrived we noticed we were too late by five minutes for lunch but went in anyway. Pleased to say the staff asked the chef and we were able to order lunch. We were given a choice of three menus a lunchtime special two meals for £12, a burger menu and a pub classic menu. We opted for the lunchtime special with my wife having the slow cooked beef stew and I chose the gammon pineapple & chips. Both were lovely two clean plates at the end says it all. We decided to share a dessert and that was as good as the main meal. We will go back should have asked before we left if they do Sunday lunches. Good selection of drinks and two good locally brewed bitters from cask. Staff give you a warm welcome and helpful throughout your visit. A great pub and would highly recommend a visit.

Poor service, staff didn’t know what wines they had! Worst mussels and frites I’ve ever had. The latter arrived tepid and the muscles were tough (overlooked) and just tasted of seawater and onion. Very disappointed.

Excellent pub great food and a nice garden to sit in and drink red wine. Walked over the fields from my house to get there. What more can you want,? maybe a lift back!

I love love love this place...... ok I've only been once as its 200 miles from me but the interior features in the best show ever..'Detectorists'..... I went there because of this but I'd go again for the place and the couple that own it who were so friendly, really nice and told us all about filming there, its my new favourite pub, shame its so far away.....oh...the beer was great too
