My Doner in Suffolk Coastal

These days, why would you go to a pub when it doesn't do food? The only thing that would encourage me to do so is if it was a very good pub. Luckily, this is a GREAT pub-I absolutely love it. It's got owners who immediately make you feel at home, a wonderful, welcoming, droll crowd of locals, lots of different entertainments (music, quizzes, various special events) and a characterful old building, lovingly restored and comfortably furnished. It's warm and lively -like the ideal of the perfect English village pub. On occasion, they guest some excellent local food-but it doesn't take that to bring people over the threshold. It's ALWAYS a pub well worth visiting.

I am a seaman and I ended up în this pub by chance while my vessel was docked in Felixstowe. Returned 6 more times. So glad I did. They have the usual selection of ales, lagers, spirit etc and the layout is beautiful. There is also a juke box with an almost infinite selection of songs including obscure ones. But what makes the place special is the atmosphere. The owners, Kevin and Jade, made me feel so welcome. They are some of the most beautiful people I've met, very friendly and helpful. The staff very friendly as well, funny and chatty in a nice , non intrusive way. And the locals hanging around are the salt of the earth. All very accommodating, respectful and fun. It was one of the best British experiences I've ever had. Shoutout to Sonny, a long time regular customer. Don't miss it when you're out in Felixstowe. Vegan place with good choices. Had a wrap with fries and have been very nicely surprised. Wrap was 10/10. Fresh and tasty. Fries have been 7/10. Not very cheap but worth it.
