Updating my review. This has always been my go to place in Felixstowe, but just had cod and chips and they were not as nice as they always were (some weird tang to the oil/fat/batter).

Monday 02.09.24. I have had the best Fish, chips and curry source in Felixstowe. Absolutely amazing. The chippy is amazing, the staff are amazing and I paid £12.50, bargin. Thank you so much. It was the best tea ever. I highly recommend Regal Fish and Chips Bar. It is the best 10 out of 10. 👌

Very generous portion, taste very good.

Not had fish and chips from hear for 2 years not as good as it used to be staff .not as friendly as it under new ownership

Food was yum yum yum, took a while to come out nearly 45 mins. But good portion, and choices. The seafood platter was great. Only down side - queuing for toilets, cleanliness in them.

Fish was cooked amazingly. Chips were under cooked and not good. Fish made up for it. But I would recommend getting your chips from a separate chip shop down the road. Curry Sauce was very good. Mushy peas were below average.

Eaten here a few times over the years, but most recently 2 weeks ago. Excellent service - polite, attentive and fast. Food is generally delicious and comes in relatively large portions. Toilets are normally clean. Nice ambience and views of the sea front. Would highly recommend.

We have had eat in and take out from this place and most definitely recommend it. Huge portions, very fresh and great batter. A long wait for take out during busy times is to be expected. If you eat in then I would only recommend the large cod if you are VERY hungry haha. It’s massive.

Visited the Regal Saturday 10th August, for lunch, i had the medium Cod and Chips, when it arrived, i was surprised to see how big it was, for a medium size. It was absolutely delicious, well worth the visit excellent value. Would visit again

Came here on a busy Saturday afternoon and the staff happily seated us straight away. It was comfy inside and the food was amazing. They were very accommodating with my dietary requirements with no fuss. The portion sizes are really generous. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back in the future

Always good I never give 5 stars because that is perfect. No one is perfect..the regal is as good as it gets always eat there when in felixstowe

Excellent cod and chips at a reasonable price thoroughly recommended. Make sure you have some crispy batter for the seagulls and the odd chip.

Been using the regal fish bar for years even when the grandparents used to run it always recommend it I visited it just over a week ago disappointed prices gone up again and portions shrunk

This is a great Fish & Chips store! I cannot rate it 5 as I have had slightly better Fish & Chips in Wales, but these are still very good.

Chips were awful, not freshly cooked, soggy and only like warm .. thew half away. Staff were friendly but didn't look clean.. stained company polo shirts and not fresh and clean looking. Will not use again

Visiting Felixstowe for one night, really looking forward to fish and chips by the sea. Reviews looked good. Got a takeaway, not the best. Fish wasn't nice, way too much batter and not tasty but better than the chips.

I return after 2 years away from living here. Still 100% the best Chippy in Felixstowe. Good Hot Clean food. Love coming back for a chippy

We come here just for the fish and chips from Basildon Essex and love it , as all done in beef dripping super flaky cod as always and chips are to dye for as you can’t beat the dripping taste ,been coming here for many years now .

Perfect, booked in advance for a Mother's day dinner. The staff were helpful and friendly, the food portions are great. Allergy advice was excellent and worth noting the batter is dairy free! I ordered a medium cod and chips, but couldn't finish it. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Book in advance though, as it's popular and you may not get seated otherwise 😉

Having read some reviews we decided to try this place for our treat on my husbands birthday. The chips were nice but the fish wasn’t fresh, the batter was thick and soft rather than crispy which is what I would expect. I gave my fish to the dog. Quite disappointed when this was my first fish and chips for a long time and was looking forward to it.

Ordered sausage and chips today, was a very large amount of food for 1 person, very hot and freshly made. The guys behind the counter always make a fuss of my dog when we go there, this I really like. We always go back. Wouldn't go anywhere else. 5*

Excellent food and very helpful staff.

Ordered hadddock, rock eel and plain sausages and chips, didnt realise all fish other than cod had to be ordered, the board was pointed out but was surrounded by people in the queue. When I got home sausages were battered, not plain. Because of the queues I wasnt going back. The food itself was good but would have been better if I had received what I ordered

Fish flat need to change oil chips discounting used to be good couldn't eat won't be back.

If your not eating hear you not eating!! I go past at least 3 - 4 chip shops to get to the Regal 100% NO1 in FELIXSTOWE ☆☆☆☆☆☆ staff so polite, thankyou for making mine & my wife's week.. x

Everything was great, friendly and fast with big portions. The only criticism I had was the fish were a bit greasy under the batter

Top notch… go to fish and chips for me. Good portion size and never greasy. Also the fact you can call in and order for collection so no queuing makes life easier.

Lovely fish restaurant that serves some of the best fish and chips I've had this year. Eat in or takeaway. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Portions are big, order large cod and be prepared for a man vs food type challenge. Highly recommended.

Popped in here to have some fish and chips. Wanted to sit down so went into the restaurant. Well staffed - clean - and efficient. Wife wanted sausage and chips which was not on the menu. But they gave her what she wanted without any fuss. Had to wait 1/4 hr which was not too bad. Well worth a visit. Update October 2022. Went here for lunch. Really busy - best book ahead. Food was great

Sorry, the fish was poor and alot more batter and fish. The staff were very helpful and attended to your every need. I did not complain at the time as the meal was being paid for by the club I attend.

Very rude and racist female staff. Did not even show the courtesy to put hot food into a carry bag instead handed out to me to hold in my hands.

Really good gluten free cod. Staff dealt with busy period of customers really well and were quite laid back. Will be going back here for sure

Highly recommend. Great food and welcoming staff, I’ve done a lot of travelling and am yet to find better.

It wasn't overly busy when we went around midday, service was quick but the chips wernt great. There is a one way system and steps at either door to get in and out which wasn't very helpful with a pushchair. We normally use a different chippy but we were closer to this one and the kids were hungry and there was barely a queue. Wish I'd have walked up to the other one. The chips were very chewy...

Cold waitress service, fish was flat, sure it was from the day before. Used to be a regular but not any more. Decided to take chips home today, hard and unable to chew. These again were definitely yesterdays chips. That’s it, won’t go to the Regal again.

Extremely friendly staff and absolutely fabulous food. I don't eat fish but the salads with ham cheese or prawns are the best ever.

Staff are amazing! Really friendly and the food is good too!! I would definitely recommend this place when visiting the beach, didn’t eat inside but got a takeaway and sat on the tables outside!! They have a good kids menu too!

Disappointed last few times now changed ownership I think as seem all new staff in there this time has took biscuit though food poisoning felt awful now for days won’t be going back shame as used to be best around

I was waiting in the queue with my trainee ambulance crew to order fish and chips when suddenly one of the workers came from the back of the shop in a overy aggressive loud tempered voice, ordered us out of the shop to start the que from the other door, little to my knowledge he was ordering me out of the shop as he told my crew to stay and singled me out of the shop, I was shocked and felt hummulated as the other customers looked to see what all the fuss was about, we travelled all the way from London as I was recommending this shop to my students, too feel embarrassed, I will never come to this rude shop ever again and will tell all the other ambulance trusts never to use your rude service again

Absolutely stunning cod and chips, the large was enormous, I nearly made it but it defeated me.

We used the take away at the Regal (restaurant was shut). The take away area probably needs a bit of love, it's looking a little tatty, the price board looks like it has gone through a few amendments over the years! Thankfully the food and service is great, served very quickly - 2 kids meals, large cod and chips and a portion of chips with some drinks. Food was not overly salted (both good and bad in our family depending on which person you ask!!) Kids meals were bigger than expected, which was good as sometimes some places just throw a tiny amount of chips and fish in for the kids - also the kids meals can come with actual fish as opposed to fish goujons or fish fingers which is great as my young 'un prefers an actual bit of fish, and normally ends up stealing some of mine! A good fish and chip shop!

Best chips around, can't recommend enough

Family with 2 children under 10 (9&6) service was great, the restaurant was clean and tidy. We was shown to our table with out booking ahead, order taken promptly and food arrived hot. I have given 4* rather than 5* as they don't offer 0% alcohol beers and also the haddock was ever so slightly over cooked. Food ordered kids battered sausage and chips, kids cod bites, calamari (came with side salad not shown on menu) we ordered a separate side salad, medium haddock and chips with curry sauce. Gluten free options available but we'll advertised that they standardly cook with beef dripping. Would definitely go back. Thank you for the great service

Second time getting fish and chips here. Very disappointed with chips both times. Under cooked and soggy.

We rocked up just before closing at 2pm on a Friday with our new puppy and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating, and the cod and chips was top notch too. Will defo be back, with the puppy.

Not cheap but then fish and chips no longer is, but GREAT worth the money. A very large piece of fresh haddoick perfectly cooked I saw the fish raw so know it wasnt frozen!! White and flaky like its supposed to be huge pile of chops. Friendly and efficient highly recommended

Crispy chips, fresh tasting fish, good amount of salt and vinegar. Beachside location so you can easily walk to the beach. Downside was the batter was a bit thick and I wish I could have asked for even more vinegar, it was made so quickly I didn’t get to see them adding it on. Portion was massive, the fish especially. Although the regular chips were not as large and felt a bit unbalanced but I guess it makes sense to go for large chips. I noticed they seemed to be at least 2x bigger than regular. But yeah, it was good! I didn’t get to try the mushy peas or any sauces or other sides. For people who don’t like skin there is skin on the fish but I liked it so didn’t mind it!

We always go to this restaurant every time we visit Felixstowe, have been again today and we had a lovely meal. Always great food and great service. 👍

Lovely fish and chips been there many times

Despite I cannot get along with beef, and was scared when seen that the Fish and Chips are cooked in beef dripping. I have to say was very good, the sliced lemon helped. And the Cod was a decent size, fit for the Large portion label. Only downside the food was the buttered was very crunchy, but despite that was a decent experience.

Reserved a table by the window for tonight on Wednesdays visit, but not reserved when we arrived today. Ordered a large cod and then told they had run out - it was only 17:15. Otherwise excellent service and food. Had Hunter's chicken instead from which was a large meal and delicious.

Beautiful place,lovely friendly staff and great food

I decided to try their Thai noodles on this visit and it was very very tasty. The fish and chips are always way up there with the quantity and taste. Staff are very warm and friendly. Do not think about going, Go Go Go.

What's the seaside without fish and chips? That's right. Nothing. This one is probably the best on this seafront. Yes, there was a queue, but it went down pretty quickly due to the efficientness of the staff and the food itself was absolutely "spot on"
