We had an outstanding lunch here today. We were just driving past and stopped in for some lunch. Everything about the experience was top quality: The sandwiches were made with fresh-baked bread and absolutely filled with high quality meats and salad. The ‘freshly squeezed to order’ orange juice was divine. The pot of tea came with an extra teabag and a promise of extra boiling water if needed. The staff were helpful, smiley and attentive. All in all, a wonderful experience. 10/10.

We had a bad experience here a few years ago but as we were passing we thought we'd give them another chance... shouldn't have bothered. The staff here seem to not want to serve you, there is no eye contact as they walk past you again and again without acknowledging your existence. One woman who was clearing tables was doing just that and totally oblivious that we were waiting to be served. We waited at the table while time and time again we were ignored, in the end we got up and left...I doubt they even noticed. We don't mind waiting if the staff are busy but when four of them are behind the counter instead of serving paying customers it's unacceptable. At least they didn't get our money this time (and never will)

Have seen reviews of this place so we decided to try it. My wife and myself and our two granddaughters (20s not children) and their dog. Plenty of parking. Welcomed by a young gentleman, very friendly, who showed us to a table. There is also the option of outside tables. The Lunch menu is quite diverse with vegetarian choices if required. There isn't a 'kids menu' as such, but there is the option of smaller portions of the main menu and sandwiches etc. Ideal for children or people who want a smaller meal. The food was excellent. Much of it is locally sourced. Service was prompt, but not at the expense of serving 'warmed up' food. The portions were more than adequate. The cost of the meal was very good just under £60 for the four of us including tea and soft drinks. We will definitely visit again.

We had great service and delicious breakfasts on our final day in Suffolk. Admittedly the food was on the pricey side but for sheer convenience and quality we found this to be a perfect spot to pull over. Two of us had the small vegan breakfast, one the small Suffolk breakfast and one the full size Suffolk breakfast and we couldn’t fault the experience. I think the vegan breakfasts were really good value given the quantity of avocado on the plate. Great coffee, delicious chilled chai latte and freshly squeezed orange juice topped it all off. Our dog even had a treat from one of the waitresses. Fabulous!

It used to be really good visiting here but not anymore. Different staff, mostly very young and a condensed menu..waited 50 mins for our food so read all the papers and listened to the young staff gossiping about the customers and not in a good way! Our drinks were fast to turn up but no good without food! The food was mediocre when it arrived and I actually didn’t bother eating half of it as just wasn’t nice. When we left the girl taking our money told me it was her last shift and she couldn’t wait to leave…I told her politely the staff needed to stop gossiping about the customers and she said ‘you think’….yes I do definitely think that! Not bothering going back again, it’s changed so much, food, staff, inflated prices and bad service. There’s loads of better places around to eat!

I've visited this cafe many times but never managed to write a review. The place definitely deserves a visit. Everything works very smoothly. The staff are always extremely friendly and the service is quick. The breakfast menu is excellent with options for all ages and some decent vegetarian choices. The food is always freshly cooked. The filter coffee is excellent and comes with free refills - although one serving is usually enough. I thoroughly recommend that people stop hear if they are in the area.

Ordered two full Suffolk breakfasts which consisted of two eggs, two sausages, two pieces of very hard bacon and toast. No beans, tomatoes or mushrooms. If you wanted beans, tomatoes or mushrooms these were an extra £1.40 each, making the breakfast £14.45 if you had all 3. Don’t think I have ever paid that much for a breakfast and not had one of the above included as standard.

It is our second visit here and the first visit was amazing. Staff were great and food was lovely, however, the sausages had a bit of a tang to them which ruined it slightly and the bacon was a bit meagre this time, probably won’t stop there again

A return visit after a couple of years and it’s as good if not better than I remember. Buzzing in just the right way, there’s a bustling efficiency about it. Service is quick enough although the food (breakfast in our case) took a while to come, it was no matter – we had the most flavoursome orange juice you’ll find outside of an orange. And when the breakfast came it was splendid. Tasty, attractive, plentiful. I felt much better for it. Very satisfying! My wife’s special treat was the pain au chocolat – apparently very delicious. They are sold in the shop. But – and maybe this is just me – looking around I could see that some people left part of their meal. I find this offensive – fabulous food and yet it’s left. How could they? It annoys me!!

Nice location and has very friendly staff, but unfortunately, the food just was either not tasty (avocado) or meagre (nothing wet on the English breakfast). You'd expect beans or tomatoes to be added to the plate. The sausages were very nice and the dirty chai was a revelation! The poached eggs were cooked to perfection. To top it off, we got a flat tyre on the way home to Nottingham from flint that punctured it from the car park (this was according to our breakdown service)

We are have been visiting Marlesford Farm Cafe for years, it’s so worth the 20 minute drive to get there! Their vegetarian breakfasts are the best in the local area our opinion and really bypass the other big local cafes. The breakfasts are never limited for options and they are super accommodating. My partner has asked a few times to have something that isn’t listed on the menu and they have always made it with a no trouble approach. Size portions are really generous and the menu is reasonably priced and with the menu sourced locally the food is divine. It appears from our visits that staff turnover is very low as we always see the same kind and cheerful faces, which must mean staff are happy and as a customer you can really feel the family/community feel. The whole experience makes returning so frequently a really easy decision.

During a recent weeks holiday in Suffolk, my husband and I ate breakfast here on three occasions. My husband is a coeliac and must eat gluten free food to avoid illness. On our first visit I had a bacon and sausage baguette that was lovely and the ingredients used were simple yet delicious. Following that and having seen my husbands breakfast, it was Suffolk breakfast from here on in to set us up for the day. The Suffolk breakfast (2 toast, 2 sausages, 2 bacon and 2 eggs) can be both gluten free and ‘normal’. The welcome by the tall, thin, ginger haired male was always warm and friendly and the speed of the food good bearing in mind everything is cooked fresh. A real gem of a place that we would visit all the time if we lived nearer.

Ordered my lunch and was told there was a 20 minute delay. Happy to wait. Half an hour later received my drinks. After a further 10 minutes I chased up the order, to find it had been overlooked. I then waited a further 30 minutes for my three sandwiches. Two customers, who turned up after I chased up the order, received their food before me. The owner explained they were short on staff and apologised but customer service is not their forte. With all this time to spare, I also noticed that I had been overcharged. The owner queried whether I wanted to be refunded the overpayment - strange request. To complete matters, one of the sandwiches had a hair in it! Whilst an apology is gratefully received, some compensation for my delay would have made me think twice about writing this review. We all make mistakes but how we deal with them, leaving the customer feeling happy, is what customer service is about.

What a wonderful surprise, and well looked after in these Covid 19 times. We stopped on the off chance of being able to get something to eat, on our journey north to Halesworyh. Immediately on arrival we were asked to log in on the NHS app, followed by cleansing our hands. The we were escorted to our table, which was seperated by a almost floor to ceiling screen, as was every other table. This was done by a excellent member of staff, as well as having our order taken. We chose food from the special board, which I have to say was “ simply the best” and a very pleasant surprise. We did not expect such a great lunch. Once this pandemic is over, and should we be travelling north again we will certainly pop in for lunch here again. Thank you to all there.

Took the grandchildren for a half term "full english" breakfast treat. Seems as if they've changed the chef since our last pre-Covid visit, as the food quality has taken a steep downhill dive. The bacon was dry, the sausages were lukewarm, tasted very bland, were not succulent and looked as if they had been reheated from the day before. The eggs were overcooked and the plates were swimming in grease. The toast was OK!!!I should have complained at the time, but chose to take the easy way out by paying up and hurriedly departing to enjoy the rest of our day.I shan't be going back again and I shall withdraw my recommendation to our new neighbours to pay a visit

We were served by a charming young chap who took our order for the Suffolk brunch. The food was piping hot and very very tasty, the cafe was very clean and all staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit again to sample different menu items and the gluten free cakes on offer, but sadly we arrived too late today and the g/f cake was sold out. Welcomed and served by friendly and efficient staff.Chose the ham salad as a light lunchtime snack with a side order of the bread basket. We have driven past this cafe/farm shop many times on our visits to Suffolk and always wanted to try it. We visited for breakfast as we were visiting the area for a few days and our children were so excited, We arrived to be told they had stopped serving breakfast, we hadn’t realised they finished serving breakfast at 11.30 so were very disappointed as it was literally half past (11.32 on the owners cctv apparently). We had not had breakfast and felt it was a little too early for the lunch menu. Our children were very hungry so we ordered panninis, although large, they were very bland and tasteless. My husband ordered a brunch ‘all day breakfast’ but without eggs (x2) and normally restaurants tend to substitute items, but this was unfortunately not offered. The ‘brunch’ arrived with 2 very overcooked, hard, dark brown sausages, 2 undercooked rashers of bacon (soft white rind) and a smattering of chips! The presentation was awful and it didn’t taste great! As there was no breakfast items I only had a pot of tea, which was good. We have since noted that the breakfast was discounted due to the eggs not being served, but we did feel the offer of alternatives should have been made. We felt the staff were overall very disinterested, quite loud and made us feel like we had stepped into a private party. We would expect staff to get along well if they had known each other for a long time, but not to the detriment of the customer. We ate, paid and swiftly left - sadly so disappointing!

It took what seemed like forever for the food to finally turn up, to find that none of the sausage baguettes had any of the advertised fried onion and there was no butter that we could see, just dry baguettes with a dry sausage. Also the price we paid for what we got just seemed a bit of a rip off.

Trad bacon, egg, toast (instead of chips) just great - and a huge lline-up of marmalades, james etc, all to use on the toast as you wish (no fussy small jars or plastic bubbles). A little slow to serve from order, if you're in a hurry. Great rural location on A12.

Stopped for a coffee but ended up with cheese scones and a choice of chilly jam, tomato relish. Two of the party washed their scone down with tea, whereas the other two of us tried Nonsuch Juices!

Although almost withing walking distance of home, we had not been in here for several years.Meeting a friend who was visiting Suffolk on holiday we had a really lovely lunch and a great catch up. The cafe was busy but being a nice day several groups were dining outside and the inside was cool. The main course we had were of excellent quality as were the desserts. The service was friendly and efficient and the overall price was very reasonable. A valuable find for our future use.

Wanted a quick lunch but found sandwiches pricey compared to main lunches. We decided to try the main meals. We opted for the pie of the day with vegetables and chips. We waited a considerable time for our meal, the pie was well filled with beef and mushroms, was served with vegetables, onion gravy and chip's, albeit there were other options available if wished. Pie was tasty and very filling. Some of the waiting staff had a rather scruffy unkempt appearance which was a bit off putting!

When the weather is good the awning is opened and there is a real opportunity to enjoy great food in the open air with a great view of the hills without any sense you are near the A12! There is a chance to buy local produce alongside and staff are friendly and welcoming. The prices are reasonable and the parking is free - not to be missed

My husband and I ate here on numerous occasions during our recent visit to Suffolk. The food was excellent we had both breakfast and late lunch, there was plenty of choice - something to suit everyone. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful which really does add to any dining experience. And very important to us our dogs were welcome. All in all I would highly recommend a visit.

Lovely cooked breakfasts, loads of alternative choices, friendly hard working staff, great service. Short wait for food as it is all freshly prepared but well worth taking your time!

Great local produce, and always friendly service. We often visit as we live in Aldeburgh and love it here. Occasionally there is a wait but we are always informed of this before we order so it's our choice whether to stay. Tall, slim, gentleman who often welcomes us always remembers us and makes us feel welcome. Great food at reasonable prices.

Fabulous eatery for breakfast and I would expect other meals also! The breakfast menu was really varied, adaptable with add ons and substitutions available and mine was easily gluten and dairy free without going short! Really tasty, meaty gluten free sausages as standard fare here. Really good value tasty local food. The service was efficient, timely and friendly - makes a change these days, full marks! Plenty of space to eat outside with lovely view and bird feeders to watch the birds.

Very impressed. The service was outstanding. Food choice, excellent and beautifully cooked and ambiance lovely. We couldn’t recommend this eatery more highly. My poached egg wasn’t runny though! Not important. We all really enjoyed eating here.

Wonderful home cooked food at this cafe where the portions were generous and there was an option for a smaller portion. Good service from friendly staff. Highly recommended. The Farm Shop was well stocked with lots of local produce.

Ipswich roundabout closed so couldn’t go to Essex so stopped here for lunch. Was very busy and was told they’d be half hour wait which was fine (at least I know our food is freshly cooked), Absolutely lovely when it arrived. Suffolk Brunch and Suffolk Piggy. All local produce including condiments. Totally recommend, staff very attentive despite being busy.

Been meaning revisit here at breakfast time. Fabulous Suffolk breakfast with extra mushrooms. Good staff, good toilets and a shop next door where you can find the eggs, bacon, sausages etc used to make the meals. We will be back!

Wholesome tasty food cooked with fresh produce. It is far more than a cafe. It is better than most fine dining restaurants!!

We were sat on a dirty table and were told about 5 times that there was a 40 minute wait for food. We agreed to this but the statement was repeated several times to the point where it became obvious they did not any more cooked food orders. We ordered a child’s Apple juice and a larger one, the larger one was provided in two bottles amounting to £5.10! This was questioned when it was delivered but were told not to worry as “this so how it is served”. We trusted them and ended up paying this ridiculous amount and when they were made aware, the lady shook her head at the complaint in disbelief that we thought it was unreasonable. Two other tables complained at the poor service also. Avoid!!!!

Stopped with the family for lunch, we was told about the 45 min wait and we agreed it was fine. Cutting a long story short we was overcharged and just left unattended and when I told her she argues with me about it. Stuff was left off our order and generally I found the staff rude, stressed and argumentative.

It’s a great menu, meat, veggie and vegan. The food is good and, I’d say, reasonably priced. The staff are lovely as well. On arrival we were told that the food delay was 45 minutes and we made an informed choice to stay. This worked because we were with friends and a catch-up was pleasant.

I opted for kippers with two added poached eggs. All cooked very nicely and tasted good, my wife had scrambled eggs with salmon which she enjoyed. Also had round of toast, two cokes and a coffee. Cost round about £30 in all. My only disappointment was the wait but I suppose all good things come to those who wait. Dog friendly as well which is good.

Having looked at previous review there seems to be a pattern. The Farmhouse provides good but slightly expensive food. If it is up to the standard and on time then all is well. If not customers are left to themselves and blamed by the management for not speaking up while they are there. Has this person never met an English person ?

I’ve read some of the reviews and it seems that expectations have a lot to do with the comments. I know what to expect and I like it. If you want slick – don’t go. If you want real - then go. If you want a place where people go because they know each other – then go. I’ve had some good conversations about local events and places with the lady and gentleman who run it. Food and drink are fine – it might not suit everyone to see your breakfast cooked in view. Suits me fine.
