The Dennington Queen in Suffolk Coastal

Spectacular beef brisket, these guys have a chef who knows how to cook... Moist, flaky, absolutely delicious. Family all happy with their respective orders as well, two ploughman's, a burger, a ham, eggs and chips and a rack of ribs, all done to perfection. Staff are all friendly and welcoming, lovely place to go for a meal, but would advise booking first.

Stayed across the road in a b&b so was able to walk across to this wonderful pub every evening, food was fantastic, out of this world in fact, we had the chilli chicken, sea bass special, and burgers during our stay and all were 10/10. The main reason I felt so strongly to leave a review is due to the staff, every single one of them were so welcoming, polite, friendly, helpful, attentive and just couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend without a doubt. I would also really like to mention a certain member of staff, I happened to overhear her name; mya, thank you so much Mya for making us feel so welcome and for just being you, you are an asset and will we remember you for our next planned trip. We took 2 friends one from Canada they loved the food and everything else.We often go there and have found it excellent.The food is always well cooked and very moreish.We will be back for our wedding anniversary.

Went today for 1st time. The Sunday roasts are very popular & very good. Staff are lovely Very cramped seating though with tables & chairs close together. As a table vacated new people arrived. You must book well in advance especially at the weekends.

Very relaxed evening with fabulous friends, enhanced with delicious food selected from a wide range of meat, fish and vegetarian options. Lovely atmosphere and attentive service. We had a table for 6 booked at 6pm and there was no sense that we needed to hurry to release the table for a later booking (we didn't leave until 9:30). Pretty candle lighting and decent space between tables. Overall, a great choice and has been elevated to my top three local eateries.

Very pleasant atmosphere and location staff very attentive nothing to much trouble My mum is a celiac and has to have gluten free and they were very accommodating They made a prawn cocktail for her even tho not on menu The standard of food and presentation was excellent and reasonable price for a 3 course meal The Queen is well worth a visit and I look forward to revisiting

Great lunch really friendly food was good we had a good spot in the the corner we met our niece for the first time for a few years so they chose our seat well thanks

We picked a quiet night, but the experience was very good. A lovely building with a sizable restaurant area. The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. We would definitely use the place again if holidaying in the area.

Awesome Suffolk coast love it we are so lucky and privileged to have this on my doorstep cafe and toilets and ferry to old Felixstowe

Lovely country Pub with great service and freshly cooked food and a nice choice of beers and largers. Half the pub is Dog friendly and also has a nice garden and outside seating areas with a good size CarPark.

One meal was great the other which was a pizza as not so good. Dry hard crust and very little topping which was also dried up. Not put us off going again as the steak meal was excellent.

Always delivers in every way. An old favourite when I'm in Suffolk.

Fantastic country pub , great food and excellent service plus a lovely garden with a duck pond. Would recommend to family and friends and will definitely be revisiting in the future. Oh and a garden kitchen that serves excellent pizzas. 10 out of 10

We returned here after visiting under the previous land lordsowners to see what the Queen was all about. After the initial confusion over the menus the food was indeed enticing. Firstly though, my wife noticed one of the mains was on her menu while it was not on mine. Upon pointing this out to the young waitress, she looked at me as though I was stupid asking me what else did I think was different! Not withstanding one menu was dated July and the other was August, the senior lady bailed me out and eventually replaced my menu with the correct one. The other point to pick up on was the same young girl asked what our drinks choices before we received the menus. We asked for two Proseccos and would choose the wine a bit later. The waitress wanted to know what our wine choice now as "she only did drinks". I countered by saying until we had seen the menu we weren't sure what colour of wine we would have with our dinner. Things got better after that though with the pate and duck pancake starters being delicious while the sea bass specials were very good, The sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fondant were moorish, although the fondant wasn't a true fondant as it wasn't soft inside. That was only a small detail in what was a very good meal in in a buzzy and busy evening with bags of atmosphere.

Had a lovely meal here. The duck, chicken and burger all went down well, likewise the desserts. Lovely premises, nice staff and dog friendly too.

Such a beautiful pub and restaurant. We called in for lunch whilst over on holiday from Australia. An extensive menu and we landed on an excellent pork ribs and a very good glazed ham. Delicious. All. Highly recommended

It's very good, but very simple food for the price. Its a pub, I'm not expecting Michelin star food or anything, but considering how often I hear people rave about this place I was expecting a little more. Everyone I went with seemed to have a good time - I just thought the prices were a little steep.

This pub used to be my “local “ when I lived in the village 38 years ago. It’s undergone a lot of changes in that time, but still as hospitable as I remember. I booked a family meal for 6 to celebrate my Dad’s 80th birthday. Due to his mobility issues I asked for a table with sufficient room for his bad leg, and this was accommodated with no problems. All the food we ordered was piping hot and tasted delicious. The 2 course meal for 6 with drinks came to approximately £200. I have no hesitation in recommending this pub/ restaurant if you’re in the area. However it is usually very busy, so I booked well in advance, to ensure I could get a table.

Absolutely beautiful food! We visited after being reccomended by the company we’re hiring our lodge from and so glad we did. The duck was perfect, the kebab was very impressive and reasonably priced too for such quality food. 10/10 reccomend!!

Really pretty looking country pub. Charming and cosy, lovely interior and a nice decked area which must be fab on a sunny day. Good menu, the 5 of us had the loin of pork, the beef brisket and a burger. All meals were very tasty and enjoyed by all. Some dishes were slightly pricier than I expected but really enjoyed our lunch, and will definitely return to sample more off the menu. A nice change, a bit more of a trek out but well worth it. Nice to go and support an independent pub rather than a chain. Keep up the good work!

Booked a table for 2 adults and 1 child for our evening meal whilst on holiday. We were shown to a lovely table and our orders were taken quickly after looking through a great choice of menu. I chose pork belly and so glad i did! The meat was beautiful and tasty, the mash was perfect along with the black pudding bon bon. But the best part was the gravy!! We've booked for our last day for lunch!

A lovely experience at the Dennington Queen Restaurant with my family. Service was great, and the communication with booking and preordering over the phone was hassle-free. If there was one fault, it would be that the vegetable selection could have been slightly better, but that is me being critical. Great food and a really enjoyable lunch.

Lovely food, I had the Hake and Mussel special and my friend had the Scampi. Both thoroughly enjoyed it. They were able to adapt mine to Gluten and Dairy free and had a good understanding of allergies. Great prosecco too!

A quaint and family friendly traditional English pub. What sets it apart though is that the food here is genuinely excellent. The menu is what you would expect from a pub restaurant, but the quality of produce, cooking and prevention is really good. The staff are really friendly and helpful with dietary needs and requests. It is quite popular so I recommend booking in advance. We will definitely be going back - four stars.

Had lunch here on Saturday whilst visiting family and can't wait to go back. The welcome, decor, food and atmosphere was 5 star.

My wife and I travel three hours to stay in the area just for this absolute gem of a restaurant. Everything about this place - its staff, food, atmosphere - are an absolute joy and this is easily our favourite restaurant ever. Please do yourself a favour and visit!!

A beautiful piece of earth. It invites you to linger here. Romantic atmosphere in a pub. really very cozy and the food was a dream. Smart card, small, regional but also international. With the peace and quiet that Suffolk has. Anyone who needs to slow down is here. Great place for Londoners too for a day off.

Popped in as we were passing to get some lunch. We had a short wait because they were booked up, so we had a chance for a drink and a relax. Very nice.

Family visit with my husband and young-ish sons for Mother’s Day. Our first visit having just moved to the area a few months ago. Lovely atmosphere, clean, staff were organised and attentive but not over-bearing. Menu was great, hard to choose! My husband said the roast was one of the best he’s had. Impressed with the children’s menu which offered a bit more variation than the usual fare. Absolutely delicious we are looking forward to returning.

We prebooked a table for 10 to celebrate an early Mother's Day lunch. We were requested to pay a £5 deposit due to being a large table, which was in our eyes, a reasonable request. On arrival today we were greeted by multiple friendly waitresses who promptly showed us to our pre laid table. We were provided with menus and our drink order was taken. One lady came to politely request that they would appreciate taking our food order promptly as they had a busy lunch service and we were first table in. At the same time she advised that this was in no means a chance to rush us and they had in fact reserved our table for the entire lunch service. Absolutely no problem with this. We had 3 starters. These were served promptly with a smile. All reported as delicious. Mains promptly followed, all hot and fresh and more importlantly to us who are a bit fussy, correct with adjustments that we had requested . A mixture of mains all enjoyed by our whole party. Only tip would be if kitchen could pre cut the pittas on the kebab meals as this proved difficult with a table knife. Waitresses promptly delivered requested sauces and took multiple further drinks requests. Multiple desserts ordered after mains and all again were delicious. One small confusion over a sticky toffee pudding (mix up on ordering) but this was brought out very quickly after waitress was advised and was the lightest, fluffiest sticky toffee pudding ever. Service charge was included (as was expected on large table) but we would have tipped the given amount anyway. A wonderful meal, enjoyed by all with lively friendly staff. We will return for sure. Only thing stopping us for some larger family occasions is the lack of wheelchair accessibility/facilities which we would sometimes require. Many thanks all at Dennington Queens.

Lovely cosy pub, even on a Monday night in winter! Food was high quality and a couple of nice real ales and an OK price for Suffolk,, will definitely return in the warmer weather as it looked really nice outside on the decking or garden area.

We were in the area for a long weekend, having never visited before. This pub was on a list provided by the place we were staying, and thank goodness when we called that morning there was actually a table free for Sunday roast. We were very early so sat at the bar for a drink of a local cider, and were advised that in fact our table was ready. We waited a little while when seated, but we were advised that would be the case as although the table was ready the restaurant was full and the kitchen were a little ‘backed up’ but it genuinely was not a problem as they’d kept us informed, so we were not ‘forgotten’. It was worth the wait! The ambience was fabulous, there was a ‘quiet buzz’ about the place; everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The food was fabulous; I had the top rump of beef, and my partner had the pork. The beef was absolutely melt in the mouth tender, my partner rated the pork highly. There was plenty of both. We both love our veg so were a little surprised at the size of the portion, however we did hear that we could ask for extra if we’d wanted. With the amount of meat, potatoes, cauli cheese on the plate there was absolutely no need for extra of anything; we were completely stuffed, and we both can eat large meals easily! It was great value for money, the staff were friendly and helpful, the chefs pulled off a fab roast; will we go back? 100% when we’re in the area again. Thank you Dennington Queen

Lovely pub Nice and friendly staff. Ordered the beef roast. Arrived quickly. Straight away we noticed there was no gravy, the Yorkshire pudding was burnt, and actually tasted burnt. Asked for some gravy which arrived promptly. A small amount of vegetables all hard. The beef was very very tough I couldn’t eat it. Such a disappointment, we have dinner her a couple of times, & been impressed. But this time was shocking!! I actually heard the gentleman on the next table saying he can’t eat his roast ever. I’m sorry to say but this place has actually gone down. We will not be returning. PS. The candles on the table are very large and a health hazard.

I would not mind being charged £1.60 if it was a fresh cooked sausage but, as we were told it was a ‘leftover’ sausage from a children’s party on the Saturday I feel it is a bit much. We discovered the charge later when looking at the bill. In that instance it is a bit much being charged for leftovers and will not be recommending this pub to our friends. We were both looking forward to returning but not now. A shame.

Me and my friend live locally but haven't been to this pub before. We decided to try it out for lunch today and were not disappointed! There was a warm greeting upon arrival and the atmosphere was cosy. We both had the Burger and it was absolutely delicious!!!...one of the best we have had in a long time! We will definitely not hesitate to go back!!x

My preferred place to dine in the whole of Suffolk. I have never had a bad meal here - either lunch or dinner. Atmosphere is lovely, staff are wonderful and menu choices great. If you want to come out and enjoy a fabulous meal in a relaxed and friendly environment, in an old fashioned establishment, look no further. Well done John and your team!

Good food, but service was a bit patchy (slow to take orders but quick to clear plates (before we'd finished). Young staff, who were perfectly pleasant, but not schooled in the art of communicating with people over about 40. As one of those people, I don't want to be called "guys", or referred to as "we" (as in, for example, "Are we finished?"). The atmosphere was more busy canteen than cosy pub.

Always fabulous food and great staff at the Queen. Lovely cosy atmosphere. Never want to leave at the end of the evening.

This is our favourite place to eat. The food is always top, the service great, the feel and atmosphere perfect and the prices very reasonable. We eat out all over Suffolk and have yet to find anything that matches the Queen.

We were stranded in Norfolk Saturday 20/10/2023 due to bad weather and flooding. The Dennington Queen opened its doors to stranded drivers, had a welcoming fire and fed and watered us all. What amazing people. Would recommend a visit very highly.

Went in for an anniversary lunch. Was greeted by both friendly and welcoming staff when we arrived. Came in for 1pm, so wasn't too busy but a great atmosphere none the less. Trendy modernised pub but keeping all the natural 16th century beams. All beautifully kept and clean throughout.... There is parking but can see easily a struggle for space can arise. If passing a definite for a quiet lunch.

Celebrating a double birthday! Absolutely gorgeous. Love the atmosphere, attentiveness and the food is delicious. Approached little one by name and provided little extras for her 😍 Nothing was too much trouble. Hard to choose what to eat-it was all so tempting! We'll definitely be back.

First time we have ever visited this gorgeous pub, loved it from the minute we walked in , was made to feel welcome , ordered drinks and and enjoyed out side , lovely chilled music playing in back ground Enjoyed an amazing roast, gravy to die for and lovely crispy potatoes, was one of the best roasts eaten at a pub for a long time ! Staff all very friendly and helpful . We will defo be back and highly recommend, can not beleive we havnt found this place after living around area for years ! Look forward to visiting again . Delicious food, cosy atmosphere and service with a smile :) Menu included vegan options

The atmosphere was excellent, could not fault that and the food was well cooked and excellent. I really enjoyed that part of the evening. The major issue was with the HOT chilies. I thought the red round object on my dish complete with seeds was slice of cherry tomato until I put it in my mouth and realised my mistake a red hot chilie. I could not breathe. My friends were very concerned about this; strange the service staff were not. I asked what the chillies were and I was told chef says they are red ones. No warnings and no tasting of the chillies in the kitchen!!!

Super place for lunch after we had walked to Framlingham and back. Friendly staff, good food, well presented and lovely location. I will definitely be going back for an evening meal in the future. Only down side - men's toilets have real interest factor, women's are just plain boring in comparison!! (Cannot fault the cleanliness though) 1st 2 photos from men's wc, 3rd from ladies - see what I mean?!

What a find! Fabulous Sunday lunch. Friendly staff so helpful particularly having my disabled daughter with a wheelchair. Food was excellent. We will be back!
