Great place, lovely food highly recommended a visit

It was very rocous. Locals in the majority. More visitors arrived, music was than turned down.

What a lovely atmosphere.. food great , vegetarian and vegan options really nice ,tucked away in a beautiful village, made to feel truly welcome😁

We were early for checking in at Keswick Reach just 5 mins away so popped in for some lunch. He was impressed by the Hawkstone on draught (lager and cider). I did find it limited in the lunch options as wasn't really any sandwich choices I wanted and the main meals were quite pricy for a quick lunch but then saw our neighbouring table get their meals and decided to have a early tea instead! Went for the fishy Friday special which was fish or scampi and chips with peas and a pint for £14 which was good value and the portions were huge! Even better we got to throw a dice to decide some discount and scored for 30% off.... We didn't think this would apply to the Friday special. So we paid £38 for 3 massive fish/scampi and chips.... 4 pints of (lager/cider) and a pint of coke. Great value were full all day and the chips were lovely!

We booked on the day for a family lunch, as there were 6 of us. Great menu, large portions. Friendly staff, even the landlord popped over for a chat. Dog fussed over and given treats. Pub does look tired but steeped in history.

Very disappointed as was looking forward to my fish & chip supper, as have enjoyed in the past.. Firstly I queried the price of the cod as charged more than was shown on price listed..got back to my weekend accommodation, on opening the lid instead of the generous golden batter, in front of me was obvious a dark twice cooked batter with chips to match, I rescued what chips I could but ended up throwing most of it away. This was not a cheap meal £12 will have second thoughts about going back. Sooo disappointed

Delightful pub situated on quiet turning off the main road. Greeted by friendly member of staff. Delicious main courses followed yummy desserts. Would highly recommend.

We booked ahead based on the reviews. We were met and greeted by a friendly chap sat in the doorway and shown to a table and given two menus. When we asked what all the crosses meant he said he didn’t know. We initially asked for water to start and just over half a glass each was delivered. Turned out due to issues around 80% of the meals were off! We duly ordered and the food was promptly delivered, with just an ‘enjoy’. No one returned to our table, for drinks or a courtesy visit. When they cleared the table we asked for the bill. 15 minutes later, and no one coming near us, nothing, I went to the bar to pay. ‘Was everything ok?’ I’m asked. So I recounted the issues and all I got was a ‘oh, sorry’. End of conversation. No interest. We got the impression most of the clientele were locals. So, food was ‘ok’, but the customer service definitely needs reviewing??
