Cross Keys in North Norfolk

We came here as it was my father in law’s birthday. We were not disappointed, the food was amazing and catered for all. Absolutely delicious, and recommend to anyone. The service we received is amazing, thank you for hosting us. You made a special day very memorable.

The food and service was outstanding, really honestly outstanding! Best pub food for a long time. You gotta try the house cheese cake amazing!. And such a lovely waitress. I would really like it though if someone spent some time cleaning and clearing up the outside.

We found this pub on the Internet as somewhere different to go while moored in Stalham. Safe to say it was the best dinner we have all had! Not one thing they could change food wise! The staff were friendly and the chef needs a pay rise as that meal was insane!

This pub is one of the best around for food and is a great place for the family. We go here every month for a family roast with afters . The staff are great always polite and is very nicely decorated. 10/10 from us

I hate giving bad reviews, but this place I couldn’t even comment anything positive about which is such a shame. There was a very goofy lady behind the bar who was extremely hostile to me and made me feel really uncomfortable and the food was absolutely terrible. I got a pizza and it had a soggy bottom however the cheese felt stale. I wouldn’t recommend even if you were on your deathbed you were that starving.

I brought an elderly friend for lunch and we both had an excellent meal. The food was served piping hot, was tasty and well presented. Service, too, was excellent - attentive without being over fussy. The menu is basic pub fare but several items come in large and small portions - a bonus for the elderly and children - and vegans and vegetarians are well catered for too. The prices reflect value for money. What's not to like!

Excellent dinner! We had a family dinner here for 6 adults and the service, atmosphere and dinner were really lovely. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived and all the way throughout our meal. The menu is varied (and delicious) and catered well for dietary requirements so we had plenty choice. Would happily recommend and come back here again!

A fantastic lunch today as a surprise Birthday Meal for a family member … Paul, Debbie and Faith were so welcoming and made it very special …. Had a fantastic meal here last night with the Vegan Taster menu evening. Really interesting, varied and scrumptious menu designed by Battie and Hoo- with no obvious tofu in sight! Fascinating and encouraging to see such a variety of plant-based dishes on the same menu. Lovely, friendly staff and very pleasant setting. We do hope they will offer events like this again!

Called in earlier in the week to book a table, kids mentioned what they would like to eat on our return. When we arrive for dinner, staff remembered us. Our table was great. Starter choice was tasty. Staff also knew/remembered kids menu choice - we ordered food from the grill. Ribs and Chicken meal was great and cooked to perfection. We had steak - well presented and was absolutely delicious. Big portions. Great atmosphere with attentive staff. Would recommend.

We were looking for somewhere new for a Sunday lunch and came across the Cross Keys at Dilham. To be honest the car park is a bit of a state but don’t let that put you off, open the door to the pub and everything is warm and welcoming. The Christmas decorations were beautifully done, the log burner gave out a warmth that was only matched by the welcome we received. We both ordered the roast beef which was perfectly cooked and accompanied by well prepared and perfectly seasoned vegetables. As someone who always seems to end up asking for more gravy, it was great that roast was served with a jug of the most tasty beef gravy 😊 The desserts we ordered were equally tasty and generous in their portion size. Whilst I won’t put the price in this review (as it may change at some point in the future) what I will say is it was exceptionally good value. I recommend this pub without hesitation, it’s a great place to go 10/10

Excellent meal. We'll prepared and presented. Friendly efficient staff. Good value for money. Good choice of starters and main course. Staff were willing to listen to suggestions on how things could be improved for diners with limited/ partial sight.

Sunday lunch just like mum used to make. The starters were gorgeous, the mains were perfect, beautiful roast pork and roast turkey, and a superb nut roast served with lovely veg, great crackling on the pork and real pepper gravy !! Desserts perfect and portion size good but not stupidly huge just to show off. Prices, well I don’t know how they can produce three stunning course for under £19 and still make a profit, I would have happily paid much more. Service was friendly and efficient,and when we discussed one of our party8s eyesight issues and the possible use of red crockery to help him see his food they were very amenable to suggestions for future service. We will most certainly be back.

Lovely old pub. Excellent Sunday roast. Nothing more you could ask for and great value. Beautiful arch covered in fairy lights welcomes you before you enter. Staff were so friendly. Nothing was too much for them. We had been to Bewilderwood and it was a warm welcome after being outdoors all day. We will look forward to returning very soon and highly recommend. Thank you.

What a lovely place. Really friendly and very welcoming. The restaurant was comfortable and tables nicely laid. Six of us sat down to eat and there were six empty plates at the end. The menu is by no means extensive, but perhaps that's the secret of producing well cooked delicious food. Really cannot fault.

Popped in on the way home Saturday lunch time. Excited to try the new vegetarian /vegan menu! As a vegetarian that hates meat substitute I was excited to see a chick pea burger & it didn’t disappoint! Really tasty, presented beautifully & with halloumi as a bonus (if not vegan). Happened to be back for Sunday lunch! Again the vegetarian/vegan roast was packed with flavour & beautifully presented… couldn’t resist trying the sticky toffee pudding & it was gorgeous!!!!

Popped in whilst walking through the village. Was tempted by their new chickpea burger and chips - it was delicious. Back for Sunday lunch tomorrow - had a sneak preview of the menu. Very much looking forward to the sticky toffee pudding after my roast.

We moored on the river and strolled up to the Cross Keys for a spot of lunch. What a find! The most delicious lunch of home made chilli for me and curry for him, with a warm brownie and ice cream for dessert. Quite delightful and highly recommended.

I loved the fact there was a Wild Craft beer festival on this week. The Wild Summer is my personal favourite ale. Food is amazing and I love the friendly, gentle and subdued atmosphere. I love this pub ❤️

A great place for family dining. We were particularly impressed by the range of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. There was a lovely atmosphere and we felt very well looked after by the staff.

This is the best place to eat in this area. Terrific Sunday lunches and a good selection on the menu. The pizzas are to die for, with a dedicated pizza area, also they do a mobile pizza unit which we had recently at a party, serving 90 people all evening! And 90 very happy guests. A lovely meal and pleasant evening, with the only fly in the ointment being the behaviour of a somewhat belligerent male customer. He came in to the bar to pay, and, in an attention-garnering manner, complained unnecessarily loudly that his dog’s sausages were served cold. I repeat, his complaint was that his dog’s sausages were served cold. Each time his table had been asked if they were happy with their food, the staff were assured that everyone was happy. Everyone except the dog, apparently. The needlessly loud individual went on to complain that a burger had fallen apart because “it was cheap meat”. He was rude and combative, and left the young waitresses feeling quite upset. Happily, other visitors who were dining, and had overheard his tirade, were quick to talk reassure the staff that they were thoroughly enjoying their own dining experiences at the Cross Keys. I had ordered the burger, and it was utterly delicious. I took a couple of photos of our meals, which were tasty and prepared from excellent quality local ingredients. On a day in which the staff at the Cross Keys served 120 covers, there were 2 complaints. I think that speaks volumes.
