We didn’t book a table, but asked politely if we could offer food & drinks, they we’re unnecessarily rude and abrupt, telling us we couldn’t sit in as tables were all reserved and that they’re too busy to offer us food. We ordered drinks and squeezed into a small table in the beer garden. I understand that they were busy, but there was no need to be so rude! We asked again a little while later if they can offer just chips (as the kids were really hungry), but they said no again, but I’d just seen them accept an order of food, and offered this reserved seating to the family in front of us, who hadn’t booked either!! Shocking! We won’t be returning. I understand that they were quite busy, but I don’t understand why they were so rude and unwelcoming.

Absolutely love this pub. It's a proper pub, friendly bar staff, proper pub food, and a fantastic atmosphere. It's not over priced. We've just spent a lovely week camping in Happisburgh and frequented the pub most nights. Good for just a drink, a game of pool or food. Kids and dog friendly. Only negative is that it's too far away from where I live.

What a fabulous place! I walked to Happisburgh from Walcott, so had worked up quite an appetite. I ordered crab ploughman's before spotting lobster salad on the specials board, and the lad at the bar changed my order without any fuss. The lobster salad was superb, and excellent value for money. Really nice pub, and the staff were super friendly and polite. I can't recommend it enough!

Fantastic time at the annual beer festival, good music and a great selection of beers. We stayed in Happisburgh for the week, it’s such a friendly village doing battle with the sea and good to see Save Happisburgh at the festival. The warm welcome at The Hill House is a big part of why we keep coming back. Thank you.

A Good Honest English Country Pub. Really welcoming staff, lovely roaring open fire. Friendly locals with good knowledge of the local area. Dog friendly, a big bonus. Good beer and massive food portions. 100% recommend and would definitely visit again if passing in the future.

Sunday lunch was nicely cooked but rather a small dinner served on a small dinner plate,disappointed that the Yorkshire puddings were not homemade…for £13.95 I would expect a larger roast dinner. Deserts were very average and not homemade so rather pricey at £7.95 each. The landlady and the lady serving behind the bar were lovely and friendly but the landlord was rather miserable and seemed like he didn’t really want to be there…. and the young male waiter had no customer skills at all he didn’t speak throughout serving our table. This is rather off putting and a shame as it deflates your mood and dining experience.Based on this I wouldn’t return … shame as I have mentioned the two ladies were lovely!

Very friendly attentive, bar staff. Landlord and landlady were very friendly and dog friendly , which is a big plus to us. Locals all very welcoming too. Beer good, food is good honest pub food, cooked well and large portions. Yes, like other reviews , the pub is a bit tired but we enjoyed our 3 visits there while staying in Happisburgh and would most certainly visit again.

Booked for a boxing day family of 12 meal after a beautiful beach walk. We arrived at the agreed reservation time. Barman was so friendly and efficient taking our drinks order at the bar before we were seated. However the less friendly landlord then said we had to be quick as he wanted to turn the tables round for others and needed us to order quickly. Which we did. We were seated in the back room with 3 separate tables which was fine as that’s all there was through there and pool table which our 4 children made use of straight away. The landlord then came and told us that children (2 are 15 and 2 are 13) were not allowed to use it. They had put their money in and playing by this time. He begrudgingly allowed them to play. His concern was that the baize may get damaged! We reassured him and play continued. Food was nice enough and hot. The landlord continued to patrol which was a little uncomfortable at times as he stood watching! Room was quite cold (atmosphere more than room temperature). However coffee was good and staff friendly. Lovely location. Small carpark so make sure you give yourself enough time to find a space. Booking recommended. Sadly we will not be returning.

Absolutely fantastic evening. What a wonderful home cooked meal we had - every single person had exactly what they wanted. Our party of 7 were made to feel very welcome. The service was excellent, the landlord took his time to talk to us and Tom and Ange were excellent hosts. Thank you for having us. We will be back! Gutted I didn’t take pics / it was all devoured before I thought about it - sorry.

Don't expect a warm welcome . We walked in for a drink at 8.25 pm as we are on holiday in the village ,to be told very rudely the bar is closed ,there was a bar full of people .an we are actually from Norfolk

Traditional pub, great hospitality and food. Our greyhound was made very welcome too which makes it a gold star for the Hill House Inn from us!

Approached and it looked very shabby. Entered, even shabbier! Was invisible to the bar staff and stood there whilst he served someone else who was after us! Heard him say he told someone else to f-off earlier. We then decided to leave and will never return! What a shambles?!

We had a two week holiday in Happisburgh and had several visits and meals at the pub. The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the ciders on offer and what the local area. The pub is dog friendly. The menu isn’t extensive or pretentious, but it is all well cooked and tasty. The chef understands the need for a sponge to custard ratio, so there’s no need to ask for extra custard which is a rarity nowadays! Out of all the meals we had the only thing I wouldn’t order again would be the curry, which was a little bit too spicy for my taste. The negatives are that the pub is looking very tired and is in desperate need of a facelift. I get that the owners are reluctant to spend money on a building that might end up in the sea within the next 25 years due to coastal erosion, but a lick of paint, a new carpet and some new garden furniture wouldn’t cost the earth and would make the place look a lot more inviting. To my mind it would be money well spent and I would have given a 5* rating had they done so. Having said that, it wouldn’t stop us returning should we holiday in the area again (which we are planning to do).

Looked after by the staff and owners beautifully. Nothing was too much and breakfast was superb. Like most pubs, there can be odd opening hours. The staff will tell exactly what they are.

Waked from Walcott so could enjoy a couple of drinks. Pub grub but right price. All the staff were cheerful and helpful no miserable folk. Obviously used by locals. Had a wholesome meal and if we were here for longer we’d call again

Acabamos de volver de una semana maravillosa en Happisburgh, la segunda vez que visitaba. Como el año pasado, comimos cada noche en el Hill House Inn. El menú es amplio y variado y todo ordenados era de la más alta calidad. Las salsas de pasta son increíbles y las ofertas especiales se cambiaban a diario. En realidad acabó el tiempo antes de haber probado todo lo que me hubiera gustado haber comido! Los propietarios y el personal nos hizo muy bienvenidos y nos sentimos como 'gente de honorario para la semana." En nuestra última noche nos preparó un pescado y marisco digno de un establecimiento de 5 estrellas - langosta, cangrejo, salmón, calamar y montones de langostinos de todos los tamaños, simplemente increíble. Mi compañero me encantó la cervezas producidas en su propia fábrica de hombre bailando, especialmente la pasada Seagull y 1801. Ambos no podemos esperar para nuestra próxima visita.

Visitamos con mi esposa y nuestro hijo de 3 años que me nieto espera que sea un problema, debido a la dieta de la edad y ubicación! No tenía que haberme preocupado ya que el personal fue muy amable y dispuesto a ayudar. Al preguntar el chef respecto de un menú infantil a lo que respondió lo que quieres! Supongo que en verano no podría haber sido tan flexible, pero fue un bonito detalle. Los aperitivos de la hora del almuerzo pedimos eran particularmente buenas porciones de tamaño y nietos sandwiches vinieron con salida corteza para él dejar! Comida deliciosa y buen café! Me hubiera gustado una pinta que sospecho que hubiera sido muy bueno, pero por desgracia ya estaba conduciendo me tendrá que probar otra vez

Seis de nosotros visitamos Happisburgh para el nuevo año y, de haber utilizado todas las sobras de navidad que llevamos con nosotros, comimos en el Hill House un par de veces. Todas las comidas eran excelentes, bien preparada y bien presentada. Buena relación calidad-precio. El personal es muy amable. Encantador fuego de un ambiente acogedor.

Warm friendly welcome...big choice of food...Three of us were well fed, great portions and all of the food tasted fresh. The pub also serves breakfast in the morning.... My sausage bap was delish!! English breakfast is also good. Would highly recommend.

Este es un buen honesto pub tradicional. Buena comida (gastro pub restaurante estándar). Tiene su propia fábrica adyacente al lugar tan gran variedad de cervezas. Poco limitado para estar dentro, pero muy buena variedad de mesas al aire libre en el gran jardín de verano ith seguro y cerrado. Tranquila en invierno y en verano muy concurrida al lado del parque de caravanas con y de otras atracciones locales (playa y faro para nombrar un par). Muy popular entre los senderistas perro procedente de la playa así durante todo el año, también tiene una cafetería en la parte trasera del lugar está abierto desde temprano a la tarde para grub, pasteles fritos y menaje para preparar té y café muy popular con gente de perros durante todo el año.

Fuimos a la Hill House, ya que era el único lugar en el que vimos abierto. Absolutamente ninguna idea preconcebida sobre él y esperaba nada especial.

Esta fue nuestra primera y última visita. . fuimos a un almuerzo de carne, pero sólo tenían de vaca o cerdo por elección. Las patatas asadas donde re calentador y pasada! Bajo col roja cocinada y agua plato gravey galletas.

Called here twice during a week's holiday in the area. Lovely old pub, friendly staff , excellent ales and a well priced menu. The owner even found time to explain the brewing process to us. Would definitely recommend this pub.

This is the second visit to this out of the way pub. On entry locals and staff all said hello which was warm and welcoming, nowadays is something rarely heard of. The pub is of old charm which adds to the area of this location and remains untouched by modernisation which makes it more charming. Landlord, bar staff and restaurant waitress were all lovely. We ate in the restaurant and we all ordered different starters and mains. All enjoyed what we had and portion sizes were plentiful, delicious and hot. The beers/ales were also very good. We highly recommend a visit whether just passing or like us who live 30 minutes away as it well worth the travelling. Dogs are welcome, which is good to know,to in the bar area.

Lugar muy agradable. Disfrutamos de una buena copa luego de un paseo nocturno en la playa, pero es un auténtico desastre de un sitio y parece muy deteriorado. Mesas afuera no estaban claras, literalmente todo el mundo tenía una docena de elementos, el jardín es un desastre y dentro del pub es muy vieja y descuidada. Lástima, podría ser una joya.

I call in at this coffee shop on numerous occasions all year round while cycling in Norfolk and am always made welcome the coffee is always good as are the cakes and both reasonable priced.the early opening times are good for me as most cafe's in this area are not open till ten if at all in the winter

Hill House fue muy conveniente para nuestra estancia en Happisburgh. Comida y las porciones son muy generosas. Cuando llegamos, después de un largo día en la playa con 2 niños muy cansados, el chef amablemente aceptó hacernos pescado y patatas fritas para llevar a nuestra casa, algo que no todos los restaurantes sin hacer y fue muy apreciado.

Had a very nice meal with the family, steak was very good,excellent chips in fact all the meals were good but over all the pub needs a refurb and a good clean the surroundings were off putting and for that reason I wouldn't return. Had a good laugh about my daughters dessert which was huge and took 3 of us to polish it off!!

The meal was a little expensive for the quality. The pub needs decorating and a more friendly welcome to customers.

Este pub tiene su propia destilería, el baile, los hombres. Recomiendo encarecidamente 1801. También venden otras buenas cervezas locales. Aunque no probamos la comida nosotros mismos, lo que vimos que se sirve a otras personas parecía tentadora y de generoso tamaño de porción. Tiene un jardín, pero no hay una gran vista desde aquí. Although the pub food was atrocious the CAFE'/ Breakfast place next door was lovely. Helpful staff, lovely atmosphere, good breakfast. Sore note again about appearances.. there were fly papers covered in insect everywhere.. not really hygienic for a food place...

Found the hill house inn purely by accident and so glad we did was just going to have a drink but as food was going to be served from 7pm we decided to stay after talking to the locals which are all very friendly the food was awsome very tasty and a large portion the staff were very helpful I would recommend the hill house to everyone thank you

Qué increíble cafetería que está justo a la izquierda del pub... es una bienvenida joya escondida. Asientos cómodos por dentro y por fuera, no pase por él, el café y la tarta fue un gesto de bienvenida después de nuestro paseo por la playa. La propietaria era una señora encantadora que era acogedor y dispuesto a responder mis preguntas extraño. Es decir, es que..., etc... Ella también embrujada tenía una gran riqueza de información histórica local que ella estaba dispuesta a compartir con nosotros.

Tuvimos la suerte de estar aquí cuando el anual festival de la cerveza era en solsticio. Más de 80 cervezas/cervezas y más de una docena de sidras para elegir. Si estás aquí tras el fin consigues una aún más grande regalo desde ellos vendiendo el sobrante de cerveza por precios de ganga!

Había un alto nivel de la música durante el fin de semana también para los fans (como mi mujer) un excelente acto homenaje de tres sesiones de elvis horas el viernes por la noche y una igualmente impresionante 3 horas en la tarde del domingo. Por desgracia, esto es sólo una vez por año, pero realmente no es para perdérselo. El pub y restaurante al lado dorr están abiertas todo el año, sin embargo, ambos tienen un ambiente cálido y agradable y la comida y bebida.

Spent a week drinking and dining here, food was amazing and huge portions and very reasonable prices. The owners Clive and Sue were very hospitable as were all the locals we were soon made to feel very welcome. Highly recommended x

Me gustan los pubs. Mucho. Pero este me impactó como algo especial. La decoración ecléctica (partes invariables desde 1600, partes invariables desde 1970!), flores frescas, conexiones literarias, microcervecería, minero, anfitrión badinage, el tazón de agua trajo especialmente para nuestro compañero canino... El menú parecía caro, pero arriesgaron y quedamos encantados. El plowmans 'eran increíbles, con lo que debe haber sido un cuarto de kilo de queso en cada una, y mi sandwich de cangrejo era perfecta. Fue la primera visita de mis amigos a Norfolk y estoy muy contento de que me encontré con este sitio, ya que hizo una gran impresión.

Estuvimos aquí en la Oportunidad y ¡qué sorpresa! Siglo xvii viejo pub propiamente dicho, la comida estupenda y muy bien, precio razonable. El personal es genial y muy amable que en preguntar, siempre una salchicha cada uno por nuestros 2 perros, Boris la frontera Terrier y Daisy el laboratorio negro - no sólo no proporcionan, la mano señora bar ellos alimentado! Correcto, servicio, muy recomendable, buena gente y muy agradable!

Pub café situado al lado de la aldea. Un poco anticuado y peculiar, pero me gustó. La señora que nos recibió y nos servía era precioso. Amable y servicial. Ella y su colega masculino nos prepararon 2 frescos desayunos deliciosos. Tuve el mayor en el menú. 4 lonchas de bacon muy sabroso, 2 buenas salchichas y mucho más. Y pan tostado. Es probablemente un buen trabajo estaba cerrado los Martes, Miércoles, Jueves mientras estábamos en el pueblo como me alegraría tener desayunamos cada día.

Un poco lejos de todo pero vale la pena el desvío. Sucedió a encontrarnos en la costa norte de Norfolk y urgente necesidad de refresco, mi colega y yo paramos aquí en nuestro camino de vuelta a Suffolk. Este es un pequeño lugar de craqueo. Es típico que había pubs y muchos pensarían, debería ser. La cervecería familiar adjunto, el personal y los clientes sonriente. Conectado para el tocino, queso brie y arándano con una baguette taza de té. Un poco caro, pero es eso es un lugar fuera de la calle principal, así que probablemente tienen altos costos de funcionamiento. Me encontré con esta joya de un pub en el último día de nuestras vacaciones familiares. Ojalá nos hubiéramos encontrado antes. Entorno encantador, excelente comida, menú genial, fabuloso cerveza y fenomenal, amable, personal feliz! Hablando de lo cual, eran especialmente útiles cuando mi hijo de 4 años el mismo viejo encerrado en el vae.! No puedo opinar sobre las habitaciones como sólo visitamos el pub. No cabe duda de que volveremos pronto con la familia y amigos.

Nos hará pasar un montón de 2016 en esta localidad, así que están exentas de tener un lugar encantador en la puerta. Pub tradicional con una tienda matriculado separada de café que sirve comida cuando el pub no y viceversa. Perros con un bonito jardín protegido. Teníamos un asador en domingo de Pascua, que era increíble. Cortes de fabuloso de cordero, sobresaliente y Norfolk Turquía con asados con frutos secos y salsa para nuestro sol crudite magdalena. Realmente, personal muy amable y un entorno encantador

Fuimos allí mientras el almuerzo en vacaciones con la familia durante el fin de semana de Semana Santa.

Recommend this little pub for lunch, such friendly welcoming staff and very accommodating if you have a dog. Our lunch was very good, home cooked warming food. We were lucky to get a place near the wood burner on a cold spring day.

Lovely old pub with great food, the staff were all very friendly! My husband appreciated trying some different types of ale which were brewed next door!

Just return from a weekend at happesburgh and visited this inn every day which is dog friendly and my dog which is a 6month old Cockerpoo and enjoyed all the attention from locals and the nice large open fire and also went here for the Sunday carvery and made to feel very made welcome And staff were really friendly and helpful the Several Camra ales were really good and the Sunday carvery was very filling with ample roast meat ie beef,pork,turkey 2 types of roast potatoes Yorkshire pud,parsnips,cabbage ,carrots ,cauliflower with cheese sauce, mashed turnip, and gravy, so full didn't have room for pudding,and if wanted could of gone back for more. You can't take dogs into the restaurant but can take your meal back to the bar if you have a dog.i really recommend this inn. Internet and wifi are very poor in the area and can .

Wonderful friendly (not gushing) pub as they should be. Excellent beers some brewed next door. Good solid pub food and large portions. Great locals who talk to civilised visitors. Cannot rate this higher!

Mi perro n llamé hoy aquí por un menú de bar y beber antes de que entramos en la playa!

El personal era muy amable y la comida era buena comida de pub. Nos sentamos en el restaurante en una serie de bancos de la iglesia- un poco incómodas, pero en consonancia con el pub. Mi hija estaba siendo un divertido vaca y ellos hicieron todo lo posible por favor- volvería.

Visitamos Hill House por primera vez en enero llevar nuestros amigos perro. La comida, cuando finalmente llegamos, era muy bonita, pero no nos lleva unas 2 horas, lo que fue un poco demasiado tiempo. Sin embargo, nos quedamos en buena compañía así que la espera no causó mucho problema para nosotros, pero puede que no sea el caso en nuestra próxima visita. El personal era muy amable y nos hicieron un alboroto con el perro, así que sin duda esperamos volver. Buenas raciones y muy bien preparado.

Called in when on holiday. Old fashioned pub selling excellent real ale, and good selection of soft drinks. Did not eat here, but the food we saw being served looked appetising.

Después de un paseo por la playa el día de Año Nuevo no creo que nos gustaría encontrar en ningún otro sitio abierto para el almuerzo. Qué equivocados que estábamos - y qué increible encontrar! Escondido detrás del pub es esta pequeña joya! Esperábamos una selección de sándwiches y pasteles pero cuando entramos a través de la puerta había una gran parrilla libre! Magnífica comida a un precio razonable. Los propietarios eran geniales y muy atento, lo que hizo que fuera lo más la pena tener que sentarse fuera, ya que teníamos 3 perros! Disfrutamos nuestro asador al aire libre!

Domingo cena era precioso incluso pedimos segundo ayudando de cerdo. Coca-cola plana y el pub está descuidado pero la amabilidad y el personal lo compensan apto para niños . También tuvimos una agradable chocolate caliente. Volveremos en el futuro.

Dropped on for a snack lunch; we both ordered the ham sandwiches which were amongst the best we've tasted - really good tasty ham plus the usual trimmings. Excellent service, reasonable prices and a few interesting characters in the bar as a bonus !!
