The best restaurants in Ellington Huntingdonshire East of England

What a lovely, cosy and quintessentially English ancient old pub! It has only just reopened after a big refurbishment which has been done very sympathetically, retaining all the old character of the place. Very friendly new landlords, well stocked bar and it’ll be a great place to sit around the fire this Christmas 😃 We’ll definitely be back!

We called in here on our way home and even though it's 90 minutes away from our home we are looking forward to our next visit. A charming pub, terrific food, absolutely terrific as good as good pub food could be. All accompanied by a great staff and a great whisky selection. I wish I lived close enough to walk here.

Visiting family near Huntingdon we went to the Mermaid Inn at Ellington yesterday, my sister in law had been before & recommended it. We were lucky to book a table, it's a lovely quaint old inn in a gorgeous village with some thatched cottages, with several small characterful rooms & a few steps. The staff were all very friendly & efficient. 3 of us had the 3 meat roast & I had the roast pork with crackling, the meat was lovely except my husband would rather have had chicken slices than a drumstick with his beef & pork. The home made Yorkshire puddings were excellent, the roast potatoes were garlicky & delicious, there were plenty of vegetables in the tureens to share & a dish of cauliflower cheese, it was a lovely big portion of roast dinner. We all enjoyed it, the gravy was delicious too. I was too full for pudding but the other 3 really enjoyed theirs. Plenty of choice from home made apple crumble & custard to Bakewell tart, chocolate brownie, trifle or cheesecake etc. It was a gorgeous meal in a nice environment & we would definitely return when visiting again, not cheap but quality homemade food & worth it.

Great food and excellent service by Tanya. My kids loved the play area and the kids menu was suited to them. The steaks were cooked to perfection hats off to the chefs. I will definitely bring my family and friends here. Thank you steak out team.

Lovely evening with the launch of the new Spring Menu. My husband and I have been visiting The Pheasant for the last 5 years and Always have an enjoyable experience. The new menu was inspiring with plenty of choice from pork to duck, fish to steak but it was the great array of starters that I had trouble deciding between. Great service, lovely atmosphere. It was busy but in a way that created ambience over noise. Will happily return.

Reasonable price fuel. Good food selections

What a warm and welcoming place. Great parking! Lovely table by the fire. Food was delicious! Crispy ham hock with homemade piccalilli was so tasty. Good wine selection. The waitress was very attentive, professional and accommodating.

23 people for Christmas Eve lunch and the food and service were absolutely superb. Would highly recommend the Pheasant…

Great Food & Service!!Visited one afternoon, was quiet but i was served really quickly by friendly staff who chatted to me while making my sub. Place clean and tidy. Last time I visited here over a year ago was not very clean and rude staff. This branch has maybe got a new franchise owner as was very impressed at how much better it was compared to last time!!! Well done to Subway Spaldwick!

Would have loved to give more than one star. Very disappointed to find a very amateurish sign on the counter saying “closed”. The counters were full of cakes and sausage rolls etc but they didn’t have any staff to serve them. So instead of a bacon roll and coffee we had a bar of chocolate and water…..not quite the same. They quite often have staffing problems at this location
