Lovely restaurant for a special occasion. Lots of choice and staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic service, a notch up in price and quality

Imagine the kind of person that takes the time to leave a 3 star review of something. The majority of reviews for pubs will be very good or very bad with people taking the time to share about their very good or very bad experiences. This pub dining experience was genuinely one of the best I have ever experienced. That quality of the food was incredible. This pub is due some Michelin Stars or AA Rosettes. Some very well thought through dishes. The service was good. We had a young sleeping baby with us when we visited so didn't want interrupting too often. The waiting staff read the situation and were perfect. The pub wasn't too busy as we arrived at midday but the decor was lovely and cozy so we felt right at home. It's reasonably expensive but the food was so good that it was still good value.

Really great meal for a Sunday lunchtime. Staff were very friendly and gave us excellent service. Food was delicious, everything we tried was really good. We often find portions for roasts or sticky toffee pudding are excessive, but the Pheasant’s portions were perfect, and they adhere to quality over quantity. It was a really great meal and we will be back to try some more!

Will not be back. Years ago used to be excellent not now in my opinion. Unfriendly service and a minor issue dealt with very badly. I think there are much better pubs locally.

We had a lovely lunch here. We decided to avoid the typical service station stop, and just a 5 minute detour off the A14 and we found the Pheasant. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, and while it was only a quick drink and light lunch as we had to get going again, I experienced enough to know we will definitely stop by again. Plenty of parking and a lovely location and establishment. Highly recommended.

Excellent Sunday lunch. The Sardine fillets with Zhoug were very tasty as was the Crispy Lamb Belly. Roast beef mains were just sublime. Wine very good. Good range of beers Great service and lovely staff. Will return as food was excellent and great value. Best in the area by a long way

We have stopped here many times over the years en route from Chester to Bishop Storford or Sevenoaks - always made very welcome and good food, yesterdays was delicious- thank you and thank you to our waiter whose heading off to Keele Uni soon - see you again.

Can't rate the food because we didn't eat. Staff were friendly. Sat in the garden lovely unspoiled views rare to see these days. Will go back to eat another day.

Great place with beautiful food friendly staff, and dogs are allowed in the bar. I will certainly be back. Yes, it's pricy, but it's worth it. Especially if you're going to try the special presentation menu with 2 corses and a drink for 25 pounds.

We went here for a Sunday Roast, food was good but we felt a little over priced for what we got!!

It was a last minute decision to have a break and go to The Pheasant. We had no expectations but Oh my goodness we didn't expect this at all. The service was excellent, the food was amazing (hats off ro the chef)and the staff were very good and friendly. The location is beautiful - what more do you want. We had chicken Kiev which was on the special menu of the day. The dessert was a s Strawberry choux au chaquelin with basil syrup and elderflower sorbet. It was a wonderful experience. I'd definitely go.tjere again but it's an hour and a half drive from my house but I'd do a detoir if i was heading that way on my journey.

Very surprised to find such a good restaurant in this area. The food was delicious with Asian influences that were all carefully done.

Very nice pub and restaurant. Great food and service. We all drove for about an hour from all directions to get there as it was a convenient meeting place for the group and we were not disappointed.

We went for lunch today to celebrate mother’s 98th birthday. It used to be a regular of ours so a return with new to us owners, was a little nerve wracking! We needn’t have worried, it was as good as we remembered it. Champagne was fabulous, food and service excellent. Nothing to complain about everything to celebrate. Think we’ll be back soon. Writing a review on behalf of my mum who has celiac disease. They have visited before and always enjoyed their meal. When they visited recently, after my mums diagnosis, she was really pleased to be able to have a full lamb Sunday lunch, all gluten free. Others in their party had the beef and also really enjoyed their meal. Visiting new restaurants can be stressful when there is potential for being seriously ill if gluten is present, but my mum feels really confident adding this to her ‘safe’ list she can recommend to her celiac and non celiac friends alike.

Visited with my family (6 of us) on a Saturday for a birthday dinner. Have to say that this place is fantastic. The staff are great, the service excellent. We were not rushed into anything. The table was nice. The food was really good and the price was really reasonable too. We all agreed it was a place we’d definitely visit again. Loved it. Thank you so much. Totally recommend for a nice evening out.

This gastro pub was chosen as a halfway house by my son. It’s a traditional country pub In an archetypal picturesque English village. The parking is great, and there’s views of open countryside from your table. We went Sunday lunchtime, and there was all the favourites on the menu. We chose the roast beef, with all the trimmings and the pork loin with crackling. They do 2 courses for £27.00. The staff were friendly and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. The meals were beautifully presented and delicious. I’ve only one small criticism, and that is, the wine menu was limited and to be honest overpriced. But that didn’t detract us from having a lovely afternoon.

This is a late but nonetheless very sincere review. Myself and two friends ate here the week you opened and the food, ambience, service were all just perfect. As a Vegetarian, it was refreshing to have a choice of lovely starters and mains and all thoroughly delicious and inventive. My carnivore friends enjoyed their meals just as much. We will be back soon. You deserve to do very well.

Open on a Monday! Excellent place for my business lunch. Good value 2 course menu with a glass of wine for £24 I had the homemade fishcake followed by cheese and biscuits I will come again.

Absolutely fantastic meal. Came here for birthday treat and wasn't disappointed. All staff were super friendly. Comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Food was.delicious

We go out a lot and eat out at many places, The Pheasant has to be the best we have ever encountered and I will tell you why....The service was impeccable, there was 1 person per job, so 1 person took the drinks and food order, another person delivered the drinks, another person delivered the food etc. not many places, if any, have this kind of service...we had a 3 course meal, and each course was exactly the right amount, not sure how the Chef knows this, but it was perfect, set ice checks were also made, again full marks. To be honest we could not fault it in any way, plenty of parking as well. The cost was what was expected and very reasonable. We will definitely be going again.

The best place my partner and I have been to, to eat out, everything was to perfection, the service, the way there was 1 person for each required job, like 1 to take orders, 1 to deliver the drinks, 1 to deliver the food etc. even had a service check. We do a lot of eating out and The Pheasant just has to be the 11/10 mark. We will definitely be back.

Always a good meal. We were concerned that there would be a drop-off with new management, but the food is still great. I find the Pheasant does an excellent job with pastry dough - their pies are consistently nice.

Was really looking forward to returning to the newly opened Pheasant and it did not dissappoint. Had the game dinner set menu and was lovely. We were an early booking at 6pm so although quiet at that time it soon picked up by the time main course served. Highlight of course was the Pheasant. Looking forward to getting back over Xmas

All round we had a great experience the food and service was fantastic. For us the only negative was the unique desert menu the didn't carter for those who like a more traditional desert. Excellent restaurant

I haven't been to the pheasant for many years but was keen to try it out after hearing it had reopened under new management. 4 of us attended last night and we were all very impressed. The atmosphere which was ambient, relaxed and cosy. The food was high quality, and service was very friendly and attentive. We will gladly be back. Thank you all for a wonderful evening. ❤️

Beautiful pub excellent food great atmosphere a lovely pub to visit.

Turned up when quite busy but made to feel very welcome. There was no room in the restaurant area. We had a table in the bar area, and this was just as comfortable. Lovely and warm with the log fires burning. The food and service were excellent, and we will be back when we pass again

Gorgeous country pub with a cosy atmosphere. Staff are all lovely, so friendly and attentive. I went with a friend and we both had the lamb which was delicious. We will certainly be back. Ps If you fancy a brownie order it from the kids menu ;)

Popped in for a drink on a Sunday afternoon. Lovely place with a new outdoor area for seating and good car park at the back. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. They also gave my dogs some biscuits. Toilets were clean and nice. Will definitely go there again, I didn't know of it, so hadn't been before.

Met up with friends for a meal. This is a good village pub in a lovely location. Food is really tasty and hot, a good few choices suit all needs. Staff are friendly. Very clean. Beer garden is really nice with plenty of comfortable seating. Would recommend 👌

The food was excellent but the service wad ver poor. No glasses provided with the water mo salt and pepper. Request for a second drink had to be reminded and a long wait between courses that we gave up on dessert. Our waitress was more concerned with sorting out the cutlery.

Haven't been for a while. We tried the litebites menu, excellent, I had the had haddock omelette, good size pieces of haddock, green salad lovely, my husband had the prawns again excellent, desserts lovely, relaxed dining (hate it when resturants rush you). Would deffenatly recommend, we will be returning.

Came here for the first time, great place, front of house staff were very good, very attentive without us feeling rushed or hassled, food was of a good standard, fresh and well presented, the cost is slightly more than you would normally pay for the same food ie sirloin steak which my partner ordered, elsewhere, however the quality was higher than normal and matched with the place and excellent service I was happy to pay a slight premium overall. Will definitely be re visiting.

The food has always been amazing when I've been here. Last time was Italian night and the ossobuco was exceptional. They have a really nice garden area - no lawn but lots of outdoor seating with some great views of the surrounding countryside.

This pub was set in the beautiful countryside, lovely open fire and the food was delicious. Great gluten free options too and we never waited long for anything. Perfect place for our lunch!

Quality venue, bright, clean and airy. Extensive menu, food well presented and cooked. Staff attentative and friendly. Not cheap, but worth the price all round. Very satisfied.

After a lovely meal at the pheasant, a few things that would have made a more pleasant Sunday lunch. We were offered online 3.15 Sunday lunch, to which I would have presumed would give us a 2 hr slot for a relaxed lunch. We arrived and ordered a pre drink in the bar and were then told we needed to order food to get it through the kitchen. We ordered as requested and we’re then rushed to the table as our food was ready, before finishing our drink and not even being offered a wine list. All in all felt very rushed in what should have been a relaxed Sunday lunch! The food was good but spoilt by the rushed service.

No one bothers to answer the phone ,nobody seems to care so obviously don’t need or want the business .No wonder only a handful of diners .We certainly won’t make the effort again to support a local village pub !Poor show !!

Fabulous food , great service ... I don't go often enough

Stopped here on the drive back to London; really delicious food and friendly service. They were busy and accommodated us as walk-in customers which we appreciated. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly.

Used to be very good. Unfortunately now Very Average. Service was slow and unattentive, Mussels starter was served with two that weren't open, Chicken was dry and overcooked, dauphinoise potato's were hard. Will not be going back.

Third visit today at the pheasant since the reopening. The food mixes tradition and innovation skilfully from starter to dessert. It is worth noting that the menu changes with the seasons. It is a pleasure to be able to find a delicious traditional sausage and mash or a revisited beef bourguignon. In one word the food was delicious and comes with a well picked wine and beers menu. The staff was very helpful and dedicated despite a busy room. Having booked a table for 4 plus one child we were seated in a quite corner which was very good (for us and other guests!). I warmly recommend the place. The surroundings are also very nice and worth a bit of travel if you aren't from the area.

Had our first date here 15 years ago, previously excellent. Birthday yesterday and over £30 each for steaks which were so bad we fed to the dog on returning home. Extremely disappointed and poor meal.

Sun Aug 21st 2022, attended a very good friend's birthday meal and this venue was fantastic. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the meal was very very good considering the number of people and different choices of dishes. We were so impressed with the whole experience we have booked to go again.

Can't say it's worth the money. Not as good as it was. Have been to better Pubs in the same area.
