We went to The Pheasant for a Sunday roast and it did not disappoint. The food was fantastic. We were looked after extremely well by Evie. Her service was excellent. Will definitely be returning.

A rare find, a pub/restaurant with a great choice of drinks, an excellent range of food and very attentive staff. If it’s pub grub you want it’s maybe not for you but don’t let that stop you sampling the menu as you’ll be surprised how good it is. The staff go out of their way to make it special. An added bonus is that it’s dog friendly.

As always, the Pheasant provided excellent service and first quality food. My trout was absolutely brilliantly cooked and presented. Very crisp skin but very pink in the centre! I was delighted. The Chef Poissonnier knows their job very well. Congratulations! That said all of the other dishes were perfect too. Our friends were over the moon with the quality. Thank you, Pheasant. We'll be back again soon!

The Pheasant was always a favourite place for a good meal, but it has something of a checkered history in the recent past. I was delighted to discover it had reopened and booked immediately. There might be new owners but the staff were as efficiant and friendly as they always had been. The prices had certainly changed in an upward direction, but, as always, you get what you pay for. There were three of us dining and we had three starters, three mains and two deserts followed by one coffee. A bottle of a light rose wine and one of sparking water washed it down, water is free by the way, The bill was £176.00 plus a well deserved gratuity, The excellent meal was worth every penny and I am sure we will be returning on a regular basis.

This has really upped its game, we opened for the Roast Beef & Roast Pork and neither disappointed! The staff members were polite and attentive, drinks order was promptly taken and our dog was also catered for with a bowl of fresh water and a treat or two. A solid 9/10, only issue if criticise would be to rejuvenate the outdoor furniture as easy to get marks on light coloured clothing.

Came back to The Pheasant with friends to celebrate husband’s birthday and it didn’t disappoint. Had a great evening. Cocktails, good wines and great food. We all enjoyed it. Service very good too and a lovely ambience. Did mention that it was my Hubbys birthday on the online booking section which asks if there is an occasion etc. but nothing came of it which was slightly disappointing. Overall an excellent time had by all. Will return to sample the Pub Classic promotion.

We used to come to The Pheasant a lot years ago, but when the last owners arrived it really wasn’t great and we didn’t return, so we were hopeful when we heard that it was under new ownership and read the reviews. The Pheasant feel is back! Locals drinking at the bar and a nice relaxed but competent vibe. Interesting menu with other options alongside the usual roasts (Sunday lunch) and good wines (slightly pricey but very nice). The food was excellent. Could not fault anything at all. Properly cheesy cauliflower cheese, flavoursome beef, good gravy. Starters and pudding were delicious. Service is very good too and we have no hesitation in recommending and returning. Finally, a good local restaurant that isnt too far away , back on its feet and doing a great job!

My partner booked The Pheasant as a special surprise On arrival the frontage was very pleasing but once inside all character to this old establishment had been taken away. We were seated in the corner by a window where a rather dead hanging plant was placed Food was good Such a pity the new owners did not attend to the decoration It’s called ambiance

In the few weeks after Christmas, many people are watching their wallets and purses, so it was a delight to find that on our visit - lunchtime Thursday 11th January - the restaurant was well populated and it's not hard to see why. The staff are exceptional and the food fantastic. It's the second time we have eaten here; it won't be the last. There was an excellent value "Pub Favourites" menu, so I decided on a burger with cheese and skinny chips. Absolutely spot on. Then a generous pud to follow. Included in the £24 fixed price, a glass of wine or a pint. The decor is lovely; indeed our guest said she felt like she was in the dining area of a hotel. The enjoyment of a tasty, well cooked and prepared meal can sometimes be spoiled if the staff aren't up to the job. But not only are the staff good at the Pheasant, they are VERY VERY GOOD.

Came here with my two boys (11 & 8) during a mini-break in Cambridgeshire, on a recommendation from a colleague. We had a really great meal at The Pheasant, and beforehand had a lovely peaceful hour reading on the sofa in the bar. What a stunning pub! Friendly atmosphere, beautiful decor, first-rate service and the food was EXCEPTIONAL. We had a few tapas dishes for starters, after which I had a turkey pie which was magnificent; there were good options for the kids, which were classics but done really well. And they were delighted with their puddings too. Very good wine list (alas I was driving) and the service from our waitress couldn’t have been better. Wish we lived closer so we could come back more often!

We're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a "normal" day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be - but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The "Chantenay" carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny-pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal - but we do intend to try again because it's such a wonderful building and we've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we're not really sure.

We booked for Christmas lunch at The Pheasant this year mainly because of the high standard of previous meals eaten here since the new owners took over. We were certainly not disappointed ...this must have been the best festive lunch I have eaten (and there have been many). The five course menu was well thought out and well executed. From the delicious canapes to the Starters of which we each had something different..... Soup, pate and lobster all of which were delicious. We all had Turkey Crown and Christmas Pudding followed by coffee and warm mince pies. I must mention our main waiter, Theo.... who was very friendly and efficient and definately added to the experience. Steve and the team are doing a great job making The Pheasant a 'must go to' venue.

Been looking at visiting here for a year now but was put off by the pretentious menu. I did however see there were some classics to be had. So made the call to do lunch to test rather than ruin a special evening of no good. We ordered some nibbles, prawns and croquettes. Reasonable but squid over deep fried. Shame. I wanted fish and chips but it came with pease pudding, ♂️, an example of this place trying to be different. No one wants pease pudding. I opted for ribs after specifically asking the waitress if they were soft and tender. Oh Yes she says. Needed a knife to tear em away from the bones and when biting them, you could hear the rip. Are them as they tasted ok with their sauce. My wife had a steak which came with a peppercorn sauce. Not on the side but smothered all over the plate. I showed the waitress my bone remains with meat dregs and she said were they nice. I explained and her response was, oh sorry I’ll mention it to Simon. Who the hell is Simon. The incompetent chef ??

This is a very good restaurant indeed. Simon is an accomplished chef. The only noteworthy fault is the organisation of service. We have been here several times, and always the same affliction.... we know good food doesn't appear instantly, but the team, friendlyand kind hearted though they are need some serious training in observing and reacting to their customers. Sitting people down with a menu, then waiting 20 minutes before thinking of taking the order gets very frustrating. Ordering 3 drinks and 15 minutes later still waiting for one of them to arrive isn't great. Forgetting to supply the bill when asked , then having to be reminded is pretty foolish. I have spoken to several folk who come here who all make the same observation, and some have said they are reluctant to come back - everything is so good, save that there has been a serious failing in the ability of the waiting staff to observe their customers and understand what they should do!!!! A modest investment in professional training could correct these errors, but I'm not sure that the owners are aware of them and their significance

Excellent 70th birthday celebration with delightful personal touches - always useful to have taught the staff's children (well, almost always! ) and have a son who's worked with the chef! Many thanks for the Happy Birthday truffle. Exquisite! Great to see the Pheasant maintaining the highest standards, great food at reasonable prices.

We have often lunched here, usually on our way back to Cambridge after visiting family in Birmingham. It is always a nice treat to come, the food is always very good, the atmosphere is welcoming, warm and friendly. We would recommend the Pheasant to our friends.

Nice pub some creative touches like having small scissors to help open sachets. Also splitting the main pub to a more kids friendly area. Sunday roast wasn't great but the other food was pretty good especially the chunky chips. Service was slow as it was a busy Sunday and we were walk-ins so advice is to book if you want a Sunday meal. Service was friendly, the place was clean and cosy with on site parking.

If you’re looking for a large portion of wonderfully cooked spareribs this is the place to go. Recommend making reservations ahead of time. Great service!

Our family of 4 went for a birthday meal in the week and we experienced tasty food with a variety of drinks. The landlady was attentive and friendly and accommodating to our needs and it was great value for money. Thank you, we will be returning soon.

We have just returned from a delicious lunch at the Saddle. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. We had fish and chips and steak and chips. The fish was delicious lovely crispy batter and the steak was very well cooked. The chips were also delicious. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was not busy which is a shame as the pub offered real value for money in a friendly environment. We will certainly return. Thank you .
