The New Sun Inn in Huntingdonshire

Stopped here on our way home from holiday. I had beef roast and my husband had lamb. The best roast we’ve had for ages. Lots of beautiful veg cooked to perfection. The Yorkshire pudding was delightful and all tasted homemade. In addition, it came with cauliflower cheese. Loads of meat. My husband then had apple crumble, he loved it. Will definitely return. Staff extremely friendly too

I had an amazing burger, we are not from around here and they drew us a map back to our camp site. I recommend this pub if you are in the area.

We visited for lunch and were welcomed by enthusiastic staff. Our lunch was very good, tasty and well presented food. We will go again.

Having just moved to the area we booked the New Sun Inn for a Father’s Day lunch. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was relaxed and the food was really good. My 2 year old daughter loved the specially made garlic bread! We will be back soon…

Food was excellent. Service, exceptional Lovely pub and people Highly recommended. Went into pub garden and was very secluded and homely, staff were polite and attentive. Food came out after 10 mins and we had fish finger ciabatta which was lovely and the Chicken/ Chorizo skewers on Salad and couscous. We really enjoyed our time there

Lovely food and staff We stopped here for a bite to eat on our way home from West Mersea. I had the pork with mash, cabbage and mustard sauce. My husband chose fish and chips. Both were great and we ate everything. Staff very friendly. Lovely pub

We had a really nice Easter meal here as a party of 7. Absolutely loved the Pork Cheek and Salmon and Prawn specials. Tasty homemade food and something for everyone. Brilliant you do GF fish and chips.

A really welcoming village pub with friendly staff, good food, wine and beers. Perfect for a family lunch or stop off after a long dog walk. A varied menu, reasonably priced. Highly recommend

Sunday roast at the New Sun Inn- a late decision as couldn’t be bothered to cook at home. Great starter shared between us but the star was the roast dinner. Beautifully presented and really well cooked. Lovely selection of veggies. Perfect Yorkshire puddings and a really generous serving of the meats. Highly recommend!!

Excellent roast dinner for reasonable price. Had the beef which was cooked perfectly and the horseradish sauce is the best I’ve tried. Nice touch that they provide extra gravy and cauliflower cheese for the table. Roast potatoes not very crispy but that’s only a small complaint. Otherwise fantastic and generous portion.

Been wanting to eat here for a while. I was very pleased as we entered the premises as the restaurant has a lovely cosy feel and had a good atmosphere considering it was a Saturday evening in January. The food was delicious and the service was attentive. We will be back!

The lunch today,having not booked, to find the restaurant was almost fully booked, however the staff and chef accommodated us. The was an excellent choice on the menu and specials board. We settled for Thai curry and a Yorkshire wrap of chicken and roast potatoes. Both were absolutely delicious. Brilliant service. Good choice of beers, I.e. Timothy Taylor Landlord at the bar. Thanks to all.

A return visit for Sunday lunch and we weren’t disappointed. It was pretty busy and a bit slow but the m/r beef was excellent and a huge portion, accompanied by 5 different vegetables, crispy roast pots and v good Yorkshire pudd. Good dessert choice and was all (inc glass of Merlot) very reasonably priced.

Not been in the new sun inn to eat before , however the landlady was attentive and the selection of wine was lovely! We ate with family, a few had steak and all thoroughly enjoyed it. The pubs decor is very different and we all commented on how nice it has been decorated. Definitely be back again!!

Hats off top class I had the lamb rump which was absolutely delicious and extremely well presented the other meals including the steak and mushroom pie fish and chips and chicken breast were also incredible this place just gets better every time highly recommend and thank you to Naomi and the team for making our experience so warm and friendly yet again we will be back soon and we can’t wait to try the new menu it looks amazing.

I’m so in love with this place!! A home from home! True regulars, a real warm hearty English pub! The menu is exactly what you would expect and so much more, the presentation is insane, everyone said wow as they were given food! The steak was amazing, the pork belly was a favourite, the lamb rump and venison specials looked amazing! Even the prawn cocktail and the pate starters could have been mains, the portions are so generous! The aesthetic of the place is so cosy and chill, good background music and lighting. I will most definitely be returning! They catered for my friends vegan and gluten free needs, the menu is very inclusive! It’s a small team and you can feel that they really care!

Very cold with constantly hanging kitchen door. Staff did their best & were pleasant but we ate with our coats on & jumped every time the door went bang! Fish lovely & crisp, chips not so crisp & steak expensive & chewy. Not a great meal, memorable but for the wrong reasons. Shame as it is now the only pub in Kimbolton.

A perfect example of how a pub should be. Great food, great atmosphere and lovely staff.

Lovely food, very good portions! The menu is understated, but what you are served is far from that. For example, the simply titled starter of chicken liver pate and toast, is actually a generous platter of plenty of toasted sourdough, chutney, pate and salad. They have a specials menu too. Tonight’s included excellent braised pig cheeks and one of the best sea bass dishes I have had in a long time. The prices are very reasonable for the quality. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend. We had a lovely evening.

What an excellent meal. This was ‘pie night’ we opted for the chicken, ham and leek pie. One with new pots. One with chips. Both served with delicious gravy, best I’ve had. Piping hot and delicious pastry. Service impeccable. Another lovely evening.

I came into Kimbolton tonight with my dog to get away from the fireworks in Raunds. 1st time every going in to The New Sun Inn. I was welcomed in with my dog Shadow. Great people, atmosphere amazing. Welcomed with open arms. Invited to come back with Shadow again (big hit) and to bring my puppy. I will off course take them up on their offer. Thank you to the owner and the lovely residents of Kimbolton I met tonight.

We went for an evening meal. The food was great. I had the special fish platter. Particularly interesting was the wide range of customers from the lively young to oldies like us and all rubbing alone happily - just as the world should be. The pub divided happily into areas for drinking, socialising and eating.

We had an excellent meal. We were a group of 8 and nothing was too much trouble. The food was really tasty, well presented and fresh. We all cleared our plates.

Curried goat comes to Kimbolton! The new chef continues to make an impact. Food now matches the service which has always been great.

Friendly staff. Met with a smile and helpfulness. Food is another story. Worst pork belly we've ever had. Fat not fully rendered so we had a plate of white, soggy mess. Crackling was not crisp, so couldn't cut it let alone eat it. We mentioned our displeasure, and were assured that the meal was cooked freshly for us (slow cooked pork??). The outside of the meat was dry, the inside extremely hot but I was assured that a microwave had not been used. My partner ate most of his meal, leaving only the soggy fat. I gave up half way. Apologies were given by the young front of house staff. Full price asked for and paid. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

Visited 19 Feb for Sunday lunch for my birthday. We both had the Bao Buns to start which were so flavoursome and enjoyable. Following this the wife had the roast lamb with all the trimmings which was lovely and plenty on the plate. I had the Sea Bream with brown shrimps. This was lovely, nice crispy skin cooked to perfection with no silly sauces just pure fish along with new potatoes and green beans. I would highly recommend. Naomi and team always provide a fantastic service. The real ales aint half bad either.

Burns night with appropriate menu, haggis and the trimmings, followed by cranacan. Washed down by draught Guinness or Pinot Grigio, all served efficiently and in a friendly and helpful manner. A very nice evening, thank you.

We visited a few times whilst staying in Kimbolton over New year. We ate once and the food was OK. 2x fish & chips, 2 x burgers. Fish cooked nicely but batter was very oily & a bit soggy, chips were more like wedges and definitely undercooked, we did mention this but didn't get much response other than a "sorry 'bout that". 2 x real ale on from Charlie Wells but neither to our taste. Staff friendly and they had a good singer and party atmosphere on New Years Eve.

A lovely pub recently taken over. Myself and a friend found it while on a motorbike ride. New landlady was very friendly as was her waitress. Both did everything needed and made us feel really welcome. Their chef was off that day but looking forward to going back and trying their food.

This is such a great local pub and restaurant. Great selection of beers, great food (the chef was great and seemed keen to make sure it was to needs) and most importantly fantastic people and service. Great Sunday lunch of roast beef. Cooked perfectly, tender. Vegetables very tasty, e.g. red cabbage, leeks in cream, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes. Yorkshire pudding. Creamed horseradish. Gravy. Friendly staff. Good ale - Charles Wells DNA, St Austell Tribute.

We went for Sunday lunch with parents and teenage children. I’m never too impressed with Sunday lunch, but was blown away. Some of us had beef and some chicken, it was superb! Accompanied by an excellent selection of vegetables… cauliflower cheese, long stem broccoli, red cabbage, mashed carrot and swede and creamed leeks all cooked perfectly. The puddings were just as good, the brownie was delicious. And we all shared the deep fried Oreo, don’t judge! They were lovely.
