Had Sunday lunch with 4 friends today. Everything was awesome. Great welcome on arrival. Excellent German lager and local ales Order taken very promptly All the roasts were outstanding - lovely crust on the rib of beef and cracking on the pork Excellent English desserts, between us has fruit pie and custard and sticky toffee puddings Very nice ambience, plenty of people eating and locals in for a lunchtime pint Looking forward to coming back again soon!

We’ve just returned from a great Sunday roast - we hadn’t booked but the landlord was very obliging and managed to fit us in. The meal was tasty and service good. There was a good lively atmosphere of locals in the bar. I would recommend as a local place to get a roast.

We booked Sunday lunch here mainly because it was the pub in the village that my dad spent some of his childhood in, so it was more for nostalgia. However we were not disappointed with the lunch. The meat was plentiful and the beef was so tender, the yorkies were homemade and the vegetables were all fresh (not a frozen pea in sight!). The puddings were decent size portions too....none of your designer stuff! All in all a lovely lunch in a quaint village pub with lovely staff too.

Popped in for dinner as it’s relatively close to us to find a proper pub selling well kept, local real ale. A reduced menu as the owners had just got back from a trip away, I had a Mediterranean vegetable pie and himself had sirloin steak. Excellent food with proper chips, even if we couldn’t finish them. Made a lovely change to find a pub where people talked to you rather than shuffling you out the minute you’ve finished eating. Will definitely be back. Thankyou!

This is a beautiful Grade II listed pub. Over the past three weeks it has been run by Mick Everett and his lady. They have had the pub buzzing with all sorts of events - quizzes, live music, a Burn's Night, to mention just a few of them. And the Sunday lunches are excellent. This is how a pub should be - full of people having a good time and being friendly to each other. It's been excellent seeing a board outside advertising what is coming next.

Checked out previous reviews and booked a table easily over the phone. Lovely picturesque village pub that has been trapped in time but warm atmosphere. Very friendly bar staff and your typical pub games to keep the young ones entertained before dining. Menu consists of a chalk board in bar area and although sparse don’t be put off! Food arrived after a short wait in big hearty portions and plenty of sides to accompany. Everyone gave it the thumbs up and washed down with a good selection of hand pulled bitters. All in all, great dining experience in a rustic village pub and definitely worth a small divert off the A14 if passing.

I visited the Green Man for the first time when Steve was serving as we are looking to move to a new area and we have experienced Steve's hospitality in the past. Found him pleasant, took food order politely. Checked everything was good. Served drinks and food to a good standard, catering for a small child offering a variety of ice-cream toppings when she couldn't decide. I wonder if this was the same night Veronica was in. There was a conversation about how chicken was cooked and Steve went to check with chef. I noticed how unfriendly the staff after shift were, walking out ignoring customers when front of house staff was still working. .can't say I will return if other staff and attitudes are like this.

My first time at this pub, I had heard and read great things about it, so i convinced my family to give it a go. We don't usually do Sunday Dinners out because they usually disappoint, hence I use the word convince.Sadly, today was no exception!!We arrived at 1.35pm and seated ourselves given directions by the Barman. We ordered after about 15mins and waited 30 mins for our starter to arrive. The Starter was very good, ample food and no complaints. After another 30mins our Starter plates were still not cleared and there was no sign of any waiting staff or our Sunday Lunch. I had to clear our Starter plates myself, moving them to another table. I chased several times at the bar for our dinner and eventually our main course arrived at 3pm. I have never seen such an overcooked plate of food, except the veg, these were under cooked! The roast potatoes, pork and Yorkshire puddings were all cremated. See photos. Not once were we asked if our food was all ok, in fact the waiting staff were scarce.I paid at the bar and despite the barman knowing full well I was a dissatisfied customer, he never asked me how my meal was and no one attempted to offer any apology or money off the bill, which i wasn't after, hence why i paid the full bill. Its clear to me that this pub has a good following, and i'm sure there are many times when the food is great, i can see that from other plates that were being dished up and from the menu during the week and of course the great Trip Advisor reviews.Greenman, you truly let down our family for lunch today and i'm sad to say i'll be reluctant to return, although i can see that you have a great pub and a loyal followingA big dissapointment

For mains two of us had the steak and ale pie and the other two the steak and Stilton pie. The pies were the best I have had with lovely pastry thick gravy and generous pieces of steak. Hadn't seen him for about 15 years, and came across his name, so booked a table for four. Rustic pub with a chalkboard for a menu, decent variety of food. We had a starter which was a good size, then two of us saw the special board containing a steak and kidney suet pudding, what a delight. Huge pudding heaving with lots of meat, covered in a superb gravy, accompanied by a ton of vegetables and mash. Bill is still on form, wonderful rustic food in a heritage pub. I was looking for a place to meet up with my parents for Sunday lunch and found this online. This is very much a pub and they do good pub food. We were all delighted with the food and service, not to mention good beer.We had Sunday roasts and a couple of vegetarian options. The meals were delivered quickly, meat, roasties, three Yorkshire puddings already on the plates (the plates were full before the vegetables were delivered). It was also great that we were given a large jug with extra gravy at the same time the meals arrived. My eldest daughter couldn't come with us because she was working. When the owner asked if everything was okay, I jokingly asked if we could have a takeaway meal when we left and the owner said "yes, no problem". We ordered the meal and he asked us to let him know when we were ready to leave and he'd cook it. The takeaway was as large and good as the rest of the meal and my daughter was delighted. We will definitely visit again. Hopefully I won't be driving and I'll be able to try some of the different Rutland beers on offer.

We have been fans of Bill Bennett since his days at the Keyston Pheasant and the Bythorn White Hart. So when we read the reviews of his Sunday lunches at the Green Man, we just had to try it.If you're looking for a traditional English Sunday roast in a traditional English pub, it doesn't come any better than this. A mountain of food (you have been warned!) that you will nevertheless, wish to finish because it's so good. The menu is very limited - three starters (including Yorkshire pud) and a choice of pork, lamb or beef for your mains (or a slice of each). Washed down with the local brew. But perfectly cooked, and just £15.95 each.Just be prepared to sleep all afternoon, once you get home!

This pub is a lovely country style English place. Loved the roast I had today, the chef went out of his way to accommodate my children by cooking roast chicken which was amazing. The puddings were a great choice and so delicious! So full up of gorgeous food will definitely be back!

After a superb visit to St Mary's Church in the village 3 of us visited The Green Man for lunch. A great welcome, a good pint for me and excellent food - great portions in every sense! The landlord chef was keen to show what they had done in their gardens which topped it off. Thank you for being the icing on the cake!!!

Met some friends mid week and needed a place 1/2 way, so traveled for an hour and a half but it was worth it. Well kept real ale. Not a massive choice on the menu so we all had Steak and Stilton pie, it was scrumptious., and good value. We were also brought a huge plate of amazing thick cut chips and a bowl of mixed veg. The landlord was great fun and showed us around the gardens and allotment. Will visit again soon sounds like the Sunday lunch shouldn't be missed.

I recently went to Bennett's / The Green Man two days running with friends for lunch and have not stopped recommending it to people ever since. The traditional home cooking is just fantastic. The portions are enormous. The flavour of the food, in my case steak and ale pie one day and steak and stilton pie the next day, was amazing. You could really taste the special ingredients as well as the beautifully tender steak. This was accompanied by a selection of good quality vegetables and wonderful chunky chips, with lovely gravy. It really was one of the best gastronomic experiences I have had -- excellent value for money. Added to that, the setting was delightful, the decor charming, and the staff really friendly. I'm already planning my next trip.

Please note that most call this place "The Green Man" although it's Bennett's in Trip Advisor. Went here for an impromptu going away, they were able to accommodate a large group easily. Great drinks selection. People in my group said hamburgers and BLTs are the best here, and I got the burger-- the bun was a bit large and hard to handle, but the burger was superb. Someone else in my group got the pork belly and said it was not very good, and I noticed that all of our chips seemed to be done to different levels of doneness, although I think our large group may have been more than usual for lunch. Both myself and one other had a grumbly belly afterwards but I think that was because of the richness of the food. Very nice place, very historical to the village. Worth a visit to see such a neat pub, and a neat place for those of us in the Huntingdon-St Neots area to take friends and associates for a pub experience. Access off the A-14 although you have to cross the highway coming or going depending on direction; town is picturesque and gorgeous!

Popped in for a lunch and a decent pint on Saturday (home made burger) and was so impressed we came back with the extended family for Sunday lunch. Very friendly owners, good selection of real ales, very nice. cosy environment and extremely good food at fair prices. Probably one of the few pubs we've been to that doesn't overcook it's vegetables and doesn't serve them from the freezer (nice crisp carrots and broc.etc.). A treat!

My family had Sunday roast at Bennett's today. It was without reservation one of the finest meals we've had in any UK restaurant. For an appetizer we had the soup of the day (beef vegetable) which was extraordinary. Rich and creamy and with a hint of a sweet spice I can't quite name. It was served with freshly baked rolls and slabs of butter. For the mains we had the Sunday roast. I had the pork which was succulent and flavorful with a rich gravy, yorkshires, and roast potatoes. On the side was a huge bowl of perfectly steamed veggies featuring carrots, courgettes, broccoli, cauliflower, and celery. My wife had the Trio roast (a bit of lamb, beef, and pork). All the meats were perfectly prepared and were served with the same sides as my pork roast. My sons had the roast beef, again perfectly prepared. Unfortunately we were too stuffed to try the desserts. Maybe next time. This was simple English food done to perfection. The portions were very generous and the service was excellent...It really was a 5 Star lunch.

We visited for a double birthday celebration meal on 7th March. Lamb shanks were delicious, everything was delicious. We were wondering if we had room for a dessert when a bell sounded and a surprise birthday cake arrived, lovely people. Drinks were perfect too, very satisfied. We have been visiting for decades so knew exactly where the Green Man, Leighton Bromswold is, it has always been excellent. Just for fun I tried to find it on our Citroën SatNav but could not even find the village. As we drove cross country from the A1 SatNav showed we were following a thin blue line through a totally black background. Well worth a visit, hope they never change.
