The reason for 4 stars instead of five is chunks of onion and lettuce instead of slices so they fall out of the burger, and there was quite a large amount of unmixed peanut butter left at the bottom of my banana and peanut butter milkshake. And it really is quite pricey - £30 for two burgers and chips and one milkshake.
The four stars is for lovely staff and great quality food. Even though the milkshake wasn't perfect, it was still gorgeous - real banana and peanut butter and vanilla ice cream. The chips are skin-on and yummy and the burgers are fab. Next time I'll have a small burger as the regular with two beef patties was a bit much for me. The burgers are a standard price and then you can add all the bits you want for "free" to customise it. So we added tomato, lettuce, mustard, pickles (gherkin), mayo, onion and ketchup. And we had the medium sized portion of chips between us instead of two small, so that saved some money - and It was plenty.
It was a Saturday evening at around 7pm so there were a lot of staff making burgers behind the counter, which must be another reason for the high prices. But even though we won't go often, we'll go again and look forward to it.
Very disappointing. Ordered jacket potato with ham. When I asked if they could change it for one without butter the response was a sharp “did you order it without butter”. Doesn’t say anything about butter on the menu but apparently it’s the customers fault for not second guessing that they’d put it on. Took a long time to change it. Ham was horrible processed slimy and unappetising. They also used smoked streaky bacon in the toasties which is also unappetising. Salad garnish was sliced so thinly it was transparent.
Amazing cheesecake, we came here twice in 2 days and had the cheesecake 2 day which was very tasty, definitely homemade with good quality ingredients. I went back the next day to get more but they’re sold out which is my only criticism lol! We had a full English each instead which I think was £6.95 each with a drink. The food was great with good quality butchers sausage and at a great price. Will definitely be back!
Golden Phoenix prawn toast and spring rolls are the best I’ve ever had in Ireland and abroad. Their soups are excellent and satay chicken skewers are crazy good. Best Chinese in Ireland. John
Top place we went to on our trip to sheffield and around. Chose it as it was dog friendly and so so glad came here. The setting was beautiful. The music chilled and relaxing. Service was excellent- thanks Oli. And the breakfast fabulous. We had smashed avocado and poached eggs on sourdough, the pancake stack with biscoff sauce you just want to keep eating, the fully loaded hot chocolate and great cappuccinos. And even the glass of water was served elegantly!! A must try place for breakfast before you tackle those hills!!
This is the 3rd visit to this concession in Derbion. Twice now I've had Fish Chips and Mushy peas. Each time has been brilliant. Superbly cooked chips, crisp batter on the fish, but I get too full to finnish the meal.
So this time I opted for chips and mushy peas.
I approached with trepidation, expecting this visit to be the one where it didn't meet previous trips.
I was so wrong. The food was piping hot, tasty exactly the same. Crispy chips, fluffy on the inside and the same, velvety hot mushy peas.
Absolutely brilliant.
Yes I will be visiting again.
This is the best cafe in clay cross, with lovely staff nothing ever to much trouble ,prices are excellent and the food and the range are second to none will always call when we have time well done bon appetit credit where credit due a smashing friendly place
When we travel to Derby, we always have coffee at 200 degrees. As a takeaway, I purchased 500 grams of decaff coffee beans, which were ground as I enjoyed my coffee and cake. The staff are always very polite and supportive helpful.
Visited several times over the last couple of weeks. Very friendly team, and a lovely clean bar/restaurant with views over the various fishing lakes. Very dog friendly outdoors. All meals have been excellent and are homemade. Superb breakfast, and very good sandwiches and a decent choice at dinner. Will be back soon
Visited for breakfast and it was beautiful! Clean and tidy restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and attentive polite staff. Will be visiting again for sure!
I love love love my fishy fishy fingers from grange fish bar

5 STAR REVIEW FOR THE FISHY FISHY FINGERS
My friend noticed this cafe in passing and we were looking for a place to eat, we looked at others but I got a good feeling about this place from the off.
We walked in and noticed how clean it was, we walked to the till and was greeted by a friendly member of staff who was polite, friendly and chatty. He showed us the breakfast menu and I noticed an option called if I remember correctly The Mega Breakfast and I commented I could eat it, but that would be greedy so he suggested a smaller version called Fat Boy breakfast which I decided would do nicely with an orange juice as I don't drink tea or coffee.
We chose a table near the wall at the front, and before long the waitress brought my mate her drink which was a capachino and it was extra hot, exactly how my mate loves it and a plate of toast.
Then shortly afterwards our breakfasts came and we were disappointed, when I saw the size of my plate, my exact words were check out this Bad Boy Breakfast, too which my mate and the waitress burst out laughing as I'd just renamed the breakfast and it's stuck. She told the rest of her colleagues and they all thought it was a mint name as well, so in my head it's now called the Bad Boy Breakfast!!
Our breakfasts were cooked exactly how we wanted them and it was clean plates all round.
We will definitely be visiting again, it was busy and seemed to have their regulars, and again it was really clean which is such a must in our book.
