In a high street dominated by chain cafe's and restaurants occasionally you find somewhere special. Luckily for us the usual suspects for a lunchtime coffee were all busy so we gave up and headed home, only to find this gem of a cafe. Small but spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, serving exceptional quality food and coffee at very reasonable prices. 2 full English breakfasts, we wasn't planning on these but saw another tables order and couldn't resist, 2 Cappuccinos and 2 cans of Coke, £20. The service was top notch by a lovely chap who not only took the orders but cooked the food and made the coffees. Deffo calling again.

I visited after taking my dog for a walk and the tea rooms I normally go to had closed. I popped in to ask if it was dog friendly but although no dogs allowed was told I could take him in the garden. We went round to find a lively quaint little courtyard with little stone statues and cast bistro tables & the gardener had just been so plants in the planters were just newly planted! What a gem…my pup and I shared an enormous vegan sticky toffee pudding and I had a lovely frothy oat latte! We’ll definitely be back as the little shop looked really Kitschy with some cute objects .

Capo lounge has always been my go to for delicious food , friendly staff and great environment, until yesterday… I visited with my son for lunch before the local football match and had the most awful experience which resulted in me walking out. On arrival we waited at the entrance to be seated. It was busier than usual, but I could see 2 empty tables. The older lady came to us and said (quite abruptly) there’s at least a 10 minute wait , I was happy to wait, and presumed the empty tables were reserved , but literally seconds later a young man came up , looked puzzled as to why we had been told to wait and showed us to the afore mentioned table. I don’t eat chilli, usually nothing is too much trouble if I request to have chilli removed ( where possible ) or alternative sauce etc but not today. Appreciating it was busy, young girl serving was evidently stressed and further miffed that the lady she was serving had to return to her table to get her payment card. There was a queue forming, however that doesn’t excuse poor customer service. I was not even greeted with a hello when I approached the til. I asked if I could swap a quesadilla on the tapas menus for a different filling which is on the brunch men and pay any difference, the answer being no because one ( I assume the main menu ) is ‘a big round one’ and the others are ‘ cut up’. So I then asked if I could have Breakfast Quesadilla which states ‘Chorizo & cheddar quesadilla, topped with guacamole, tomato & red pepper salsa, coriander, Aleppo chilli and a fried egg’ without the chilli ( it says topped with so I presumed it was on top of the quesadilla) I’m told no because it’s in the sauce , so I ask if I can have it without the sauce but I’m told no because they are pre made quesadilla ( I thought food was cooked fresh / to order ?) I was asked if I had an allergy to chilli which I said no I just don’t like it , and it seems if I had a food allergy there may have been a way of having the food without chilli? So my next option was to order a selection of sides to eat as a main but apparently you can’t do this , I had to order a main to go with the sides , have to order sides without a main ( despite my doing this on many other occasions , surely a few sides together is only like tapas in a fashion and I would still have been paying the same [if not more ] as a main meal. ) At this point I gave up and I walked out in disgust. Upset and disappointed is an understatement. Always loved it and raved about it, never again will I go there. I did call after the experience and was offered to speak to the general manger but I didn’t have time to wait I was too flustered trying to find somewhere else to eat ! (Which I did , Horizon on church street , highly recommended)

As the arranger I got there 20 minutes before our family party booking. Good I did as the 3 tables that we had booked and reserved weeks before was not ready by a long way. Next the young staff of 4 did not know how to open a tab for the table. Eventually I got one but when other family members order drinks there was confusion of if a tab was already open. 2 family members requested a cocktail drink but after 10 minutes still not arrived. I approached the bar to see what the issue was, and they said they had never made a cocktail before. They eventually arrive. When the mains started to arrived we had no utensils and no condiments on the table. All mains eventually came within 5 minutes, although I had to go to the bar as a side dish did not arrive. They said it have been forgotten. 4 people ordered a desert from the specials board only to be told that it was not available. Why was it on the specials board? Some ordered the deserts cakes in the display cabinet but the staff has problems finding out the price of them. Eventually they fetched a chef from the kitchen to find out. When the deserts came, again we had no Cutlery. When they decided to bring some spoons it was literally thrown on the table. I had to bite my tongue a few times so not loose my temper as I didn't want to ruin the experience of the family party. Luckily they got the bill right in taking off my deposit. Overall a very poor experience. Would not recommend a Saturday afternoon with family. There needs to be trained staff that care and a manager present to rectify any issues.
