Britalia Italian in Mansfield

We have been here on numerous occasions and love it every time we go. The staff are always friendly and can happily have a chat with and a laugh. The food is outstanding and if I could eat here everyday I would you get what you pay for I personally always go for a calzone and just manage to finish it, it's too good to leave anything Would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Italian food. 10/10

Table booked for 4 with my husband and in-laws on a Friday night, we had an early reservation and was initially quiet when we arrived. This is a small venue and at first appearance doesn’t have many tables but there is additional seating downstairs. There is a good choice on the menu of starters, sides and mains. We all had 3 courses and each was simply delicious. I have attached photos; (please excuse the black pepper on my meal - addicted and by no means an indication on the chef). Photos include Caprese insalata, penne arrabiata (with a side order of salad) and cannoli for desert. Our party shared a garlic bread which was pretty much overlapping the plate. Depending on where you’re sitting (upstairs ) you can see the Chef working on your food, using the pizza ovens and cooking some of the dishes. My compliments to the chef - each dish was delicious; and I certainly wasn’t offering a bite of mine for my family to sample! The portions are extremely generous. My cannoli dessert was the best I’ve had. I’m quite partial to Cannoli and when I see a stall at markets or even whilst in New York I’ve been keen to try. This one was the biggest and most enjoyable to date ! Throughout our meal further parties attended and the atmosphere and buzz of the restaurant was lovely. Not only was the food and atmosphere enjoyable but the staff were friendly, polite and engaged well with our party with a few jokes around our table. The Chef even came to ask if we enjoyed the meal. Far a very small team (what appeared to be 4 staff) they run the restaurant extremely well. There is a sign in the restaurant highlighting the specials, a lovely message on the board which is a great touch and clearly shows staff are all about their customers. Lush food, great staff, amazing night, we will be back!

Popped out with other half for a random night out and called into here as we'd been during lifted covid restrictions earlier in year. Still the same absolutely fabulous food and service. Safe and clean and welcoming environment. A must for everyone!

In the area for a few days and didn’t arrive until dark so went in search of somewhere to eat. What a wonderful surprise this little gem is. The food was all freshly cooked, the host was very friendly and is clearly passionate about sharing Italian cuisine with people. Highly recommended and if we are ever back in the area we will be returning.

The food here has gone down hill since the last time we visited. It was average. If I was served this in my company staff restaurant and it was £3.50 I would say that it was decent value for money - however not at 14.95 for the main course. It was poor. Paying for the bill was a farce. We asked for the boiled potatoes to be replaced by chips so we were charged an extra £3.50 for chips. Furthermore, we were overcharged for for alcohol - I had 2 beers and we were charged for 3. When I went to pay the bill, the woman at the till told me I had 2 beers to which she disputed and said I had 3 beers, which was incorrect. I know how many beers I had and it was 2 !!! After some intervention from the owner, it was resolved, but they have lost us as customers - and we have ate there a number of times previously. Poor food, poor and rude service and a bill which was inaccurate.

Our second visit was even better than our first, Britalia is rapidly becoming our restaurant of choice in Mansfield. It was just the two of us this time, to celebrate our wedding anniversary, leaving the boys at home to their fish and chips. Having the meatball starter was a mistake, not that there was anything wrong with it, far from it. It was delicious, but it didn't leave enough room for the enormous calzone. Packed with loads of chese and absolutely covered in Bolognese sauce this was probably the best calzone I've ever tasted. My wife had pollo funghi al crema, she also declared it delicious and quickly finished it off. Good selection of spirits, wine and beers, I can recommend the Italian lager.Great, friendly service from the staff, the owner even popped over to wish us "Happy Anniversary" which I thought was a lovely touch. Number 2 son has his 18th birthday in December, if I have anything to do with it, Britalia will be top of the list for the celebrations.

The waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful, the service was quick and efficient. Our two pasta dishes and garlic bread were all delicious, as were the home made puddings. The wine was good and the restaurant was very comfortable. We will definitely be back.

1st visit tonight. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Staff service was excellent. The owner cooked the meal which was also excellent. He came round the tables and chatted with everyone which was a lovely personal touch. I mentioned a dessert which was not on the menu which I had not seen in Italian restaurants for a long time which he then offered to make me. It was beautiful and I don't think you would receive this service in many restaurants, they would just say it isnt on the menu. This restaurant goes the extra mile. I highly recommend a vist to anyone and will be visiting again very soon.

We have just spent a wonderful Evening at this restaurant. Excellent food and wonderful service. Can’t praise this place enough and the owner is a lovely guy. We will definitely be back soon… If you are in Mansfield definitely give Britalia a visit

We booked a table based on reviews we’d read on this site and we weren’t disappointed. We were welcomed by the owner who introduced us to his staff who took us through the menu answering any questions we had. The food was of the highest quality and well presented. For a fairly busy Saturday night we didn’t feel rushed to finish our meal. All in all, it was a very pleasant and comfortable meal out in very welcoming surroundings

I had the pleasure of being invited here with my family tonight. A last minute booking, they we’re so flexible in fitting us in. The atmosphere was fantastic. The staff were amazing and so friendly. But the real star was the food. Everything was fantastic. The presentation, the balance of flavours, the quality of the ingredients.

We all ordered something different and asked for it to be spicy. He did not disappoint. All the food was awesome with the best dish was the vegan mains which had such great flavour. This is something the main brands lack. Will definitely come back again and wanted to say thank you.

Really pleasant Italian restaurant owned and run by a lovely Italian guy who chats while he cooks up some great tasting dishes. Next time we might ring a couple of days before and request something off-menu, he said he'd try his best to cook whatever we fancied. Having said that there is plenty of variety on the menu and the Italian lager is also very moreish.

We detoured into Mansfield town centre in search of food while on a long drive north. Britalia was the first place we tried and they gave us a friendly welcome and a delicious meal. We only had main courses because we needed to get on our way again, but the service was prompt, the food was beautifully presented and tasted lovely, and the girl who served us was friendly and helpful. We'd definitely visit again if we were passing that way!

Our first visit to Britalia and we will definitely return. The food was outstanding - every dish was delicious and beautifully presented with generous portions. Everything was made from scratch, even my side salad had a lovely homemade dressing. The Italian chef/owner takes real pride in his cooking but is also very kind and will do whatever he can to accommodate you. The very welcoming and warm atmosphere topped it off - thank you for a perfect evening :-)

First time out for months and wanted something special.On arrival we were put downstairs with two party's of 8.Another couple complained about the noise and were moved straight away, we were left there, we couldn't here ourselves talk.We complained but were told they didn't have a table upstairs, no apology.MESSAGE TO COUPLES ... make sure you get a table on ground levelMESSAGE TO OWNER... Don't take a booking if you don't have space for couples on ground level.We will not be visiting again!

We had an amazing meal here I am gluten free and they had a really good selection of g/f meals the g/f garlic bread an passion fruit and mango ice cream cheeses cake was absolutely amazing, we had such a warm friendly welcome it was like going to a friends for dinner would recomend it 100%

Went last night as a party of 5 to this lovely Italian family restaurant As we arrived seated quickly by the very friendly young lady and the owner chef said hello although he was very busy The food is fantastic Every one really enjoyed all the food starters mains and desserts Every one left very happy If you want real Italian food go and give it a try Five stars ⭐️

Having read the great reviews we decided to give Britalia a go for a family meal out and we were not disappointed. We had a warm welcome and shown to our table in the downstairs section, which was empty when we arrived but very quickly filled up. I'd therefore definitely recommend making a booking at the weekend. Lots to choose from on the menu, it's all freshly cooked so don't expect the bang bang service from some of the national "Italian" chains, this is a proper Italian restaurant. Service was attentive without being OTT, they gave music playing at just about the right volume. The boys and I chose garlic bread each as a starter, be warned, these are huge, we could probably have got away with sharing one between us. We all had something different, the portions were generous and we all announced the food to be delicious. Probably not the largest Italian restaurant in Mansfield, but definitely gone to the top of our list of favourites.

Have been wanting to try here for a while! Finally booked and went with a friend. The welcome was great. All staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to help! The chef/owner came to chat with us to offer me an alternative to the sauce I asked not to have - brilliant customer care! Food was tasty (had calzone kiev for main!) We just felt really looked after from start to finish and we'll definitely be returning! My only slight issue was the cost of the starter I had in relation to the size of the portion but the food was still fresh and tasty and it wouldn't affect me returning!

Excellent, freshly prepared food that was full of flavour. Attentive staff without being intrusive. Family run business that had a lot of local regulars when I was there. That is always a great sign in my opinion. Well worth a visit.

Had a great meal at this little gem of a restaurant in the town centre of Mansfield. The owner - Romani, such a great host, attentive but not mithering you if you understand. A broad menu of Italian classics from authentic pizzas to fresh pasta dishes .My partner went for the filled pasta and she loved it, I had a Calzone Kiev and wowser - super portion size too.Can't wait to go back once we get out of lockdown !

Been here many times since it opened. Food cooked fresh every time and is always excellent. The owner and staff are very efficent, friendly and go the extra mile to make your visit the best they can.All measures are taken to keep everyone safe at this time. Would definitely recommend.

One of the best Italians I’ve ever eaten in. Travelled all over the country and virtually always book the local Italian. We were visiting from Doncaster (Fri 23 Oct) and had booked Britalia. Not only was the food superb, but the proprietor/waiter made the service outstanding. Really set off our weekend with a brilliant start. To top it off, got talking (distancing) to a local couple who are regulars at the restaurant and that too made for a lovely aspect to the evening.

Really nice and tasty food all freshly cooked (can see through to the kitchen if sat upstairs) good sized portions for a reasonable price. The waiter was really friendly and although there were obvious repeat customers, he still took the time to talk to everyone. Nice pace between courses. Although at a reduced capacity due to Covid and on a Saturday night you did not feel like they were rushing you in order to get other people inside.

This place beats the Italian chains any day. I would highly recommend paying a visit here. You won't be disappointed.

Always come here and wouldn't go anywhere else. Best food for miles!!! Always accommodating and will change ingredients if needed, for example i don't like mushrooms and will always ask for none no issues what so ever. Even if you want to change the pasta or the dish completely will always be accommodating. One of the most friendly hosts you could ask for, feels like home from home . Would 100% recommend a visit

Best place in Mansfield, the chef will do anything for you and is so kind and nice, the place is always clean and tidy. The Filetto Pepe Rosa is so nice such better than others I have had. See you next week.

We came here on a whim after our local Italian closed and I can honestly say we weren't disappointed! Romany is a true gentleman and can never do enough to accommodate us. In my opinion this is the best restaurant in mansfield! The food is always of the highest quality and the service is second to none. Upstairs has a nice lively yet relaxing atmosphere and downstairs has a romantic quiet atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend!

We’ve only been here a few time’s but I have to say I absolutely love coming here! My Fiancé & I love Italian food and always used to go to another Italian restaurant so had never really tried anywhere else but since COVID the place is we always went to has since closed so we thought let’s try somewhere else and found this place. We have never been disappointed, in fact everytime we’ve been we’ve always said how amazing the food and service have been and I couldn’t fault the place at all! It’s right in the town centre also so perfect if you’re wanting to go and try a few of the bars afterwards! I’m not usually one to post on trip advisor but I couldn’t not for this place, it’s always been amazing every time and I wanted to recommend so others could try this place out too! Thankyou Britalia! Can’t wait to come back again!

Appalling service, after sitting and waiting for two hours and we’ve only had the starter course which had ‘Bistro Salad’ from Aldi on the plate

What a great place. I stayed in Mansfield for 3 nights and found this on my first night. it was so good, i ate there on all 3 nights.The restaurant was cosy and the staff were very welcoming. I had a different choice from the menu each night and each dish was really well cooked and authentic.I would recommend Britalia to anyone wishing to eat out in Mansfield.

We love going to this restaurant they have amazing food and nothing is never too much trouble. Both my sons are autistic and funny with food but whatever they ask for its made for them. We will always go back and be a loyal customer

After checking Trip Advisor for recommendations we discovered Britalia. We had no problem getting a table for two at short notice. We were greeted by a very friendly & welcoming gentleman. He was extremely helpful & accomodating throughout the evening & helped us make our choice by making recommendations. The food was excellent & plentiful, we shared a starter of mussels followed by linguine del mar for my friend & ravioli lobste for me. Both were delicious! We also enjoyed a nice bottle of Shiraz. To finish the evening e were givin a complimentary glass of limocello! I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely little restaurant & will definitely return.

After visiting ciao Bella and walking out we didn’t expect to get at able anywhere else last night with the eat out to help out scheme, but brittalia were so helpful and got us booked in! Couldn’t fault the food or service, they made time to talk to you and were very attentive. Loved how you could see the pizzas being cooked and this restaurant really had such a welcoming feel and you can tell they really do care about there customers. Thank you for turning our night around we will definitely be back :)

Visited Britalia for the first time on 12th August 2020 and the whole experience was excellent. Service was good and the food was amazing. No problems with social distancing if that’s a concern. I had seafood linguine and after having the same dish recently at il Rosso and Ciao Bella, I’ve enjoyed it the best at Britalia. My wife ordered pizza but because of a large pizza order on a different table they had run out of pizza dough. So she had the same me and also thought the linguine was superb. We have booked again and I will start using Britalia restaurant when we fancy dining at a Italian restaurant in future.

I must admit we only went here because the place we wanted to go had a tribute night that didn't appeal and this showed up in the search on Trip Advisor. We were as ussual doing everything at the last minute again! The reviews were good but with it's location I wasn't expecting very much. Wow - was I wrong. From the moment we entered we were treated very well and made to feel special. Romany was very attentive but not overpoweringly so. My husband does not like 'fancy' food (with garlic, sauces etc) so Romany asked him what his ideal meal would be - then cooked it for him. My daughter (who's birthday celebration we were out for) couldn't decide between three things on the menu so Romany asked her what the best bits of each meal was then combined then expertly into a flavoursome dish. I was the only one in our party of 4 who had something straight off the menu, and the fillet steak melted in your mouth. Romany suggested wine to meet my daughter's taste and suggested a beer for her friend, and was spot on with his recommendations. Desserts were exquisite - the Baileys Creme Brulee was bruleed at the table and was so smooth and silky - beautiful. We went on a Sunday evening and Romany did everything - meet and greet, waiting on, getting and pouring drinks, as well as preparing and cooking the meals. this did not however mean long waiting times for our food and drinks, and the atmosphere was very laid back and comfortable. Even though Romany had said he closed at 20:30 he was still asking if we wanted more drinks long after this. He brought my daughter a Baileys with candle in a straw for her birthday and limoncello shots on the house all round after the meal. I was so glad that the other place had a tribute band on otherwise we would never have found this little gem and it is the best Italian meal have had in a long time.

We all booked for our big Christmas party. So looking forward to our get together. When the day finally arrived we were taken downstairs, where we had the entire room to ourselves. Upstairs was really busy so I expected the service to be slow, but actually we were all attentively catered for beautifully! We felt very special and one of my friends even asked how I managed to swing the “private dining” lol. Truly beautiful food and wonderful wonderful service. Highly recommended.

Last October, my family and I were having dinner at Britalia, I can only say that when they served us the pizza was awful raw and burned, he said that English people like it that way. and we had to wait almost an hour until they served us the dinner

IMy husband and I came here before going to see a tribute artist. What a lovely relaxing restaurant. The food was fantastic. The chicken very moist. We decided to share the tiramisu as one each would have been to much. I can honesty say it's the best I've ever had. The owner was very friendly and when we had finished eating there was no rush to leave. One place we definitely will go back to.

Been for a hen-do pizza making and a date within a week. Couldn’t keep away! Amazing food, I’ve had pizza that we rolled the dough ourselves and chose our toppings, then the lobster ravioli which was lush. The owner so lovely and accomadating too. Definitely the best Italian in Mansfield and surrounding areas

Recently visited and felt so welcomed. We had the room to ourself for a hen party. All decor was provided and we made our own pizzas. We all enjoyed it, one of the best nights we’ve all had and amazing food and drink. All staff did all they could for us. Thank you!!

Visited for pre theatre meal and what a find!! The food was cooked to order and tasted amazing. The owner was attentive and friendly and honestly couldn’t do enough for us. What a shame it isn’t closer to home!! Highly recommend to all who love traditional Italian cuisine!!

Me and my friend visited with my 5 year old daughter as we were out shopping. We didn't plan to visit we just saw it from outside and though it looked nice. What a great time we had. The man in the restaurant was so friendly and welcoming. The food was beautiful. My daughter was very happy with a pepperoni pizza, which they let her try the pepperoni first as it was spicy. We were given lemon shots after our meal which made it a nice finishing touch to a great experience.

1st time visit but it won’t be the last. Absolutely everything you want for an Italian meal. Service food ambience friendly cosy and relaxed. Just wonderful thanks Romano. See you soon

From start to finish the whole experience was a wonderful one. The owner’s customer service was extremely welcoming and professional. The size of the menu is astonishing, so much so that I had trouble deciding what to order... so the owner said “what is it that u fancy eating” I ended up with my very own version of the pasta dish Britalia... and wow when it came honestly it was delicious!

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend the Ravioli Lobster and will definitely be returning. Was the perfect place for our anniversary and had a very friendly atmosphere.

We recently ate here with friends, none of us had been previously so it was an all new experience. We weren't disappointed, the food was excellent the service was very efficient and the staff friendly and pleasant. I would highly recommend Britalia and I am sure that we and our friends will be back.

Food was marvellous, the staff very friendly. I went with the ravioli lobster and it was everything I'd hoped.

A wonderful first time visit to this fab restaurant, just a quick visit before a show. Every time I eat out in an Italian, I cannot help ordering the Lasagne as this dish is my all time favourite. Sadly I am sometimes disappointed but not here. This was so tasty and every mouthful was absolutely delicious, accompanied by well-made perfect garlic bread. The host was very welcoming and friendly. Well worth a visit

Three generations of my family ate here on Sat 21st Sept. The Garlic is amazing and Romany was great with my eight year old nephew. He got him to make his own pizza and the toppings of each picking, when I mean make his own I mean he put all the topping on his pizza. Great place to ate and drink. Well done to everyone. Whilst visiting the area we decided to try britalia after reading the reviews and we where not disappointed. They where amazing with our children aged 8 and 12 letting our daughter make her own pizza, the food was fantastic and authentic. I could not thank the staff enough there where very helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend britalia.

Came here on the recommendation of the comic book shop around the corner. Attentive young waitress who took the time to listen to my 9 year old daughter and make conversation about her new comics. The food was delicious, well presented and a good portion size, the head chef came out and asked my daughter if she’d like to help in making her own garlic bread and she was delighted about it! Amazing chilli sauce and pesto. Can’t wait to go back and try the cannolis!! Great experience and would definitely go back and recommend.

Writing this after our second visit, the restaurant is small and cozy upstairs (not been downstairs). The service has always been very good, with the owner visiting the front of house and talking with the customers, this creates a good atmosphere.

Not been here for a while but wow, was I in for a surprise... just when u think this restaurant has reached the top, it just keeps on climbing higher and higher! Honestly their food is mind blowing, so fresh and flavoursome. Again we were greeted with the wonderful personalised service and needless to say we all loved every minute, every bite and have already booked for next week. Thank you to all at Britalia xx

Went to Britalia restaurant with a friend prior to a show at Mansfield Palace Theatre. We were met by a lovely man who was in the middle of making pizza dough. Fantastic. Pasta and pizza are home made. Food was amazing. We had pizza and tortellini. Portions were ample and very tasty.

Stopped by this evening needing somewhere for 5 to eat in Mansfield. Great food, super service - a very homely, friendly place. Definitely recommend!

We went to Britalia for the first time on Saturday evening and what a find! This is a family run restaurant, Dad is head chef, daughter managing front of house, both very attentive and ensuring you are having a great time and enjoying the food. Unlike some restaurant experiences, we never had to wait for service, they manage to time everything perfectly. Now the food, WOW, I had the brie and red onion starter, my husband had the fire meat balls, we shared each dish, they were both fantastic, have to say the fire meat balls were awesome. I had the lobster ravioli, this was lovely, the sauce was perfect. Hubby had the filet steak, he loved it, perfect cut and cooked just right. We tried the secret recipe hot sauce too, if you like spice, ask to try it, it’s amazing, we were even given some to take home. Highly recommend you try Britalia, it has a family run atmosphere which is a rare experience these days, and you will be pleased with the quality of the food and service.

I visited britalia with some friends for my birthday last month and loved it and I had to take my mum knowing she would love it too. Upon arriving we were greeted very warmly and seated straight away. The manager remembered me from the previous time I visited which made me feel a valued customer. Our food was amazing as last time and the wine selection is very good too. Definitely now my favourite restaurant and will return many times in the future

Visited again yesterday for a family celebration. The food is delicious n authentic. Well priced n welcoming. The owner is fabulous his customer service is outstanding. We highly recommend this wonderful restaurant. Thank u to all!!!

Our company booked the lower floor for a business meeting. Perfectly situated in the middle of town and we had a very productive meeting with no unnecessary interruptions. The staff were very professional and accommodating. We opted for a buffet style banquet which was extremely ample, offering a wide variety of good quality Italian cuisine.

Went there with my family in March some family friends were with us aswell a table of 7. The staff were friendly and inviting we were amazed at the quality of the food I had the ravioli lobster which I have to admit is the best I have ever tasted. My father had muscles in white wine sauce it was devine (he let me try a bit) it was seasoned well but not to much wine you cant serve it to children it was a grate balance. A family friend had pizza which she devoured and said it was the best pizza in mancfield it is a true joy to come hear the staff showed us to our table imitately and let us sit down bifore taking the drinks order which she seemed to produce almost immediately. The owner told us if we were cold or too walm to tell him and he would adjust the heating for us. This resturant is a real joy to go to and the best in mancfield!!! Fair prices and definitely worth the visit!!!!!!!

Having looked at their website and read the review on TripAdvisor, we were looking forward to a family meal at Britalia Italian but boy were we disappointed. The whole experience left us thinking that Ant&Dec; were about to spring out at any moment having been pranked. Upon entering the restaurant we were left standing without recognition before we were taken downstairs in to a freezing cold empty room that was lit up by flashing fairy lights. We were left abandoned for 15 minutes, shivering and seeing stars until someone came back to take a drinks order. A further 15 minutes later the drinks arrived and our food order was taken. The waitress had no knowledge of the menu at all so after several attempts of trying to pronounce what we wanted, we had to result to pointing (she was English so no language barrier). My son ordered pizza, we ordered a starter of mussels and standard pasta dishes for mains. Another visit from the waitress moments later informed us the pizza oven had just broken so we could not have that. (the pizza 'oven' as a grill that you find in all local pizza takeaways). When the starters came, the waitress proceeded to spill the sauce all over the table with no acknowledgement or apology. Here's where it goes even further downhill, the food was a mockery of Italian cooking and serious corners are being cut to reduce costs. The mussels were supposed to be in a white wine sauce - there must have been a thimble of white wine in the sauce so it was like eating mussels in milk. there was no seasoning. The mussels were so overcooked they'd reduced to the size of a pea. overall, inedible. The theme continued with the mains, zero seasoning and inedible. My son had a standard spaghetti bolognaise (which does not exist in authentic Italian cooking) - the spaghetti was congealed together and could be lifted from the bowl with a single folk. The ragu was dry and tasteless. By now we had been joined by several other diners and there was talk amongst the tables of how bad the food and service were. Upon paying the bill we were offered a 10% discount by the owner/manager (10% that you can get by signing up to their website anyway) and we were on our way feeling hungry and robbed. I sincerely hope the restaurant did not have their 'award winning chef' in the kitchen that day because my 7 year old son knows how to cook better Italian food than we were served up. A truly bad experience from start to end and paid £65 for the privilege. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Visited for a pre theatre dinner with friends and it was a good start to the night.

Visited with my sister and her family. Welcoming and attentive, with lovely food enjoyed by all. Special mention to Romany who was there before we knew we needed him on every occasion.

Visited with a table of 9 today including children. It was a set menu for Mother’s Day, lovely choices, but most of which the children weren’t too fussed on. Romany was amazing, offering to cook them any pasta dish they wanted and different dessert options too!

Visited for Mother’s Day lunch - our second visit to this restaurant. A table of 9 and they couldn’t do enough for us . Romanii , the host , accommodated our youngest grandchild and oldest who didn’t want the set menu and cooked them the pasta & desserts they requested . Even gave our youngest daughter tiramisu, her favourite desert , although not on the days menu. My pollo chicken was delicious, the chicken moist and perfectly cooked . We will be back
