Rossini Italian Restaurant in Mansfield

Family celebration at 5:30. We all commented on how good the food was. Living only 5miles away can’t understand why I have never been before. Dropped a star because the service was only adequate. Lovely hot food and plates but they didn’t have the gumption to give a cold plate to a two year old!

Our first time at Rossini’s and the jury is out as to if we will ever return. The staff are all very young and do not have any customer service skills. We did not see an adult team member all evening. My friend rang in the afternoon to clarify the alcohol ruling and was told that we could take our own alcohol. However when one of our group opened a can of pre mixed G & T she was told that she couldn’t drink it. When challenged, the waitress said they only allow wine and Prosecco to be brought in and was quite adamant that we could not drink our own G & T even though that afternoon we were told ‘alcohol’ could be brought in. None of us wanted a starter to which we were informed that if we didn’t have a starter our main meal would be more delayed! Like the ‘wine only’ rule there is absolutely no logic or clear explanation about these ‘rules’ The food was gorgeous and enjoyed by us all, and that is the one saving grace really which is such a pity. When food that good is available locally and yet you are left in the hands of untrained teenagers! I think the owner needs to read these reviews because there is a clear pattern emerging and his business is being spoilt by his choice of staff.

We came here on Thursday evening,we were seated in the window and ordered drinks, the waitress came to take our order,we had olives and bread and oil which was lovely, then our main course came and there was no mention of any veg with my main course the waitress was doing other things then after I had begun eating bought the veg, all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our main courses 2 of our party had desserts which were lovely, my only slight criticism is the waitress was not particularly smiley or chatty or informative in no way was she rude but had an air of aloofness, I will definitely come again when I visit Mansfield which I do quite often

Again, this restaurant provides excellent Food. For Italian food, it is economically priced and the portion sizes certainly subside any qualms about prices. It may not be the biggest venue, but it's the best tasting 3 course meal in Woodhouse and it's only rivals are a third to two thirds more expensive.

Lovely little restaurant however advertised byo drinks is only on wine and fizz. We were seated quickly and asked for drinks however then waited 25 minutes for someone to take a food order so we very nearly left and went somewhere else. The food once it arrived was very tasty and clearly home made. The portion size of the specials main course were small compared to the normal menu too. Not sure if we'll be back for dine in given the service however would use for takeaway

We came to you last night as a party of 5. Not being here before, & you being recommended by my parents. We didn't know what to expect. Since having visited Italy earlier this year, sampled the food & was blown away by it. My wife & daughter both had the Linguine Fruitte du Mare, they said it was absolutely out of this world & lived up to the proper standard, sampled in Italy. I had the Chicken Polo. On saying this we highly recommend Rossini's & their standard of food. Will definitely be going again. Thank you for a great evening.

First time ordering, more expensive than the usual takeaway but really nice as a special treat . There is nothing similar in the area so definitely worth ordering if you fancy something different from the usual choices. Loved everything really tasty, hot and good quality. Portion size is to be expected from a restaurant

Highly recommended. Even on a Weds eve it was busy and I'm not surprised. Delicious pizza made from fresh ingredients & thin crust. A proper authentic & unpretentious Italian restaurant. Good value as well.

We were looking for something local fast because it was a football night and we found this cozy Italian restaurant. My partner and I enjoyed our food and the staff was very helpful. We definitely need to go back to try more of their items.

Absolutely incredible. The dough for the pizza garlic bread is great, all came hot and was very delicious.

Lovely food but for a steak that costs £25 to come with only a little side salad. Not even any veg/potato's or chips is very expensive. I don't know why steak would just be served by itself??

Love eating out in our village. It's always busy in Rossini which is a good sign. Really enjoyed the Risotto Verde.

We did a surprise 40th here and they went above and beyond to help Opened restaurant when normally closed and the staff were just incredibly and the food spot on as always they were 41 on us and all come out top quality and on time

A beautiful meal and can't fault the excellent food. However, the service really lets this place down. I was with a friend who is celiac. When she asked about various dishes, the staff were clueless. We waited forever to be served, so when it came to dessert and coffee, we were told coffee wasn't available "the coffee machine had been switched off". A group of teenagers who made it obvious they wanted to close and couldn't raise a smile between them. When my friend asked if there were any gluten free desserts, she was told ice-cream. When she asked to order the ice-cream, she was then told no, as there was nobody available to check if it was gluten free. ALL restaurant staff should be trained in allergens and information should be available to customers at all times. Very dangerous and illegal. Such a shame, as the food is delicious and very well presented. I'm fortunate to not have food allergies, but a word of warning to those who do. Please train your staff!

Food is fantastic across the board House wine is great as well. Service overall can be a bit ‘leisurely’ but both times I’ve been I’ve been quite happy spending additional time there. Maybe not recommended if you want a quick eat or need to be gone by a set time. Make an evening of it.

Used to go here every 2 or 3 weeks. Last couple of times we have been the service has gone from "not great but the food makes up for it" to "appalling, not worth bothering anymore". Charging premium prices for low level service managed by teenagers with little experience and no ability to deal with complaints. Use the excuse that it you don't have a starter you have to wait longer for your main course (up to an hour!). I'm all for supporting small businesses but if something doesn't change, this won't work for much longer and customers will vote with their feet! We've been loyal for long enough but not prepared to put up with the owner's arrogant attitude that they can charge top prices and customers will put up with this treatment!

The chef's at this restaurant are incredible, every time we go the food is flawless. Price is fantastic for the quality, we're now regulars and have been going for a couple of years. Taken family and friends and all absolutely loved it, even my very picky mother 😂 The servers are friendly, only issue they do not regularly checkup on the tables so if you're wanting any more drinks etc. just go and ask and they're happy to sort it.

We've loved this restaurant for ages, our absolute favourite so when it appeared on just eat we couldn't wait to give it a go and we were not dissapointed. Food absolutely perfect and plentiful - we had one chicken dish and one steak dish which both came accompanied with beautifully cooked potatoes and veg. Can't wait to order again. 10/10

Absolutely gutted. The food is simply Devine but they didn’t deliver the Garlic bread which was one of the highlights we were looking forward to. Refunded but kinda defeats the object 🤷‍♂️

Service was absolutely appalling. The staff never asked us if the food was ok/ if we wanted anymore drinks / any sauces etc. We had to ask to order , ask to pay and then had to take the bill to the bar to pay as no one came to the table. Our reservation was for 8pm and we didn't get any food until 9:20pm. The food was good when it arrived and they obviously have someone who can cook in the kitchen. However the service really lets this place down - the staff were just completely unengaging. Two stars is for the food only.

Atmosphere is very homely, parking could be tight, small place, key location and easily found Brilliant food, limited menu and that satisfied us both immensely. Soup quantity is small nevertheless very tasty, loved that Service is excellent and we would go there again and I humbly request clients and customers to encourage this small business please. It took 40mins for the waitress to take our drinks order and no alcohol free option available, then another 10mins to take the food order when we were told it would be 50mins if we wanted steak or anything else freshly cooked, so pasta it was. A good while after finishing the mains the waitress came out of her daydream and offered us the sweet menu but told us half of the items had run out, so all told I wasted two and half of my life for lasagne and ice cream, it dare say it won't be happening again.

A lovely, relaxed place to eat just a few things that stopped us giving a 5 star rating. My husband asked for extra chilli with his main course but didn't get any we told the waitress but she was uninterested we weren't offered any parmesan and we didn't know you are charged by the bottle if you bring your own.

Fab meal, amazing food would really recommend

So after visiting a few times, loving the genuine Italian food, went for my surprise 60th birthday, BIG EXPENSIVE MISTAKE, rude staff ‘chef read the order wrong’ (their excuse for my starter coming out after everyone else had finished theirs and same excuse when mums main came out the same!!! Went to tell them the toilets were a mess and when I said ‘excuse me’ was greeted with ‘what’ no good evening, happy birthday nothing, was made to feel like we were a nuisance being there, will not be going back in a hurry, messaged them on messenger to say hope it was just a ‘blip’ but haven’t had a response, no apology, nothing, I’m guessing the girl who was running the show is also the one that monitors messenger!! Hope so cos hiding it hasn’t worked has it!! The night was a shambles - sort your staff out!!

Visited Rossini restaurant last evening 22nd November. A table for six friends together. What a wonderful experience. The 3 young ladies serving us where very attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely excellent, all served at the same time. Absolutely 5 star. Strongly recommend. We will be back very soon.

Been this place before but nothing has changed. Cold radiators, No heating on in November, cold and wet. every customer was wearing their jackets on, couple of teenagers behind the bar with no customer service skill at all and on their phones all the time instead of asking if their customers need anything, we had call them. food came out late and food was cold won't be going back again for sure

A lovely little restaurant, a good menu and delicious food and at a reasonable price. I would recommend it to all.

Met with my best friend for a meal to celebrate my birthday and booked a table for early evening. We were made to feel very welcome and shown to a nice table near the back of the restaurant. Although it was only 6pm, within the hour, most of the tables were taken. You can bring your own wine for a small corkage fee. The menu choice is really good without being overwhelming, ranging from pasta and pizza to fish and steak. The prices are also very reasonable. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We shared a starter, then I had a risotto and my friend had a lasagne. We also decided to have a dessert and again, the choice was really good and there was something for every dietary requirement. Would highly recommend this lovely restaurant but would suggest booking a table in advance.

As a visitor to the lovely village of Wood house, my sister and I decided to go and try the famous Rossini restaurant (my sis had already eaten there previously). We were given a wonderful welcome by Dan and Gabbi, who were pleasant, informative and timely with the service, the restaurant is very clean, spacious seating (although the actual size is petite, we didn't feel cramped), the room is adequately lit with soft background music, the energy in the room was good. The prices are reasonable and the menu choice was enough and varied (I'm not one who likes too much on a menu). Now for the 'La parte migliore dell'esperienza' (best part of the experience)... The food was delicious, it was hot, seasoned, tasty and came as ordered, cooked with the intention to please, and it did!, generous amounts, well worth the money. We were warned about the hot crockery and we are thankful, who wants to burn themselves?.... Exactly (thanks Dan and Gabbi). The whole experience was a definite positive and we will be visiting again and we highly recommend you go and see for yourself...

Food was amazing, let down by the lack of management and poor training of the young staff. We was a party of 8 dining at 8pm. The young waiter/waitresses were rude and didn’t want to do anything except gossip and play with their hair. We had to ask to be served drinks/order food numerous times. If it wasn’t for the amazing food I would of got up and left as they made us feel very uncomfortable. They made very snarky remarks if we tried to make a joke. Won’t be returning unless an actual manager over the age of 16 is present.

We visited here a few years ago and had such a lovely time that my step dad decided he would like to revisit for his birthday meal this year. We were a party of 15. Last time we attended it was a bring your own drink policy without any specification as to what you were allowed to bring. So, we all brought our own drinks with us - wine, gin, soft drink and beer. When we arrived a couple of our party opened their drink (gin and a beer) and were very rudely told “you can’t drink that in here.” When questioned about the bring your own drink policy they were told that it’s now only wine and Prosecco that you’re able to bring. I have no issue with the information we were given but the tone was unbelievably rude and totally unnecessary. If we’d have been told “I’m really sorry but the policy has changed etc…” then hair enough, but there was no nicety about it. Nonetheless, as the drink had been opened, my step dad was told that he could finish that drink and then buy any further ones, which seemed fine. The lady who opened the gin said she would buy a lemonade to be able to drink the drink she’d poured and then again, buy any future alcoholic drinks. Within a few minutes another member of staff came over and said to my step dad, “you’ve already been told you can’t drink that in here.” My step dad explained that he had been told he could finish his drink (that he’d poured), but if the waiter wanted to take the rest of the can away, he could, which he did. The rest of the evening felt somewhat awkward. At times we knew we were being watched to make sure we weren’t drinking anymore of our own drinks (fair enough). But generally the customer service was poor - I’d go as far to say probably the worst I have ever experienced. When meals were brought out the attitude of staff was abrasive “don’t touch the top of that it’s hot” and when placing someone’s meal on the table who sat at the other side, instructing one of the party “you’ll have to slide that over.” There was nothing pleasant about the demeanour of the staff at all. On asking for the bill, 50p had been added as a cost of my step dad opening his own beer. When this was questioned we were told that the policy had changed so they had to charge him for it. There was no information online to state that the policy had changed, or to specify what you can and cannot bring (there was also nothing mentioned in communications with the restaurant during our preorder) and the menu online was out of date. The food was absolutely beautiful but the rest of it ruined what should have been a lovely evening and we would absolutely not return. The only reason I haven’t given it 1 out of 5 is because the food was lovely.

First time eating here and can say we will be returning. The staff where polite and obliging. Friends have recommended here so many times, and everything they have said is true. Great place,friendly staff, amazing food . 5🌟

My first time eating at Rossini, all I can say is they have a new regular , food was really fresh and the flavours were amazing. Price was spot on . Bit disappointed at the size of the drinks for £2.50 was expecting a large glass of lemonade but only got a small tumbler. Waiting Staff are really young so lacked enthusiasm but did okay . Also I was told on the phone when I booked that the seafood platter was available, when I tried to order it I was told it’s not on the menu anymore. Not the end of the world but I was really looking forward to a mountain of seafood, really hope it’s back in the menu again

Really disappointed. We booked 1 day in advance a table that both me and my partner were comfortable with, as the evening was a very special occasion. When we arrived on the day they tried to sit us infront of the door and were told that we couldn't have the table we had been promised over 24 hours before. The waitress asked us who did we speak with when we booked because it wasnt her.. we couldn't see the relevance of us being asked that and they werent prepared to honor our booking. We decided to leave, will not be coming here again.

9 of us ate out for a family celebration - every one of us had a fantastic meal and experience. Really authentic food (and waiters!) and we could not fault a thing. We absolutely will be back and are just sorry we have waited this long to realise what a gem this is

Love rossini it's a small independent business and the food is to die for and extremely good quality table of six had starters and main literally the only issue is some times the front staff take a little longer than they should with drinks ETC but you can bring your own wine etc for a little corkage if your not in a rush or moan at everything then rossini is BRILLIANT AND AGAIN THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD IS AMAZING!
