Been coming here for years, seen owner after owner. Haven’t been for a while but glad we came to try the food on Friday night, it was really nice and service was great. The pub was busy which was pleasant to see. The food at the Lambley the week before was dire compared to the food at the Robin, and at half the price too! We’ll be back to take advantage of the premium beer offer shortly :)

Professionally served by the friendly Hannah who found us a table within 15mins. Very good fish and chips and a garden plot medley salad with roasted butternut squash. Lively atmosphere and wonderful views across the rolling Nottinghamshire countryside from the rear of the pub. We come up to the Travellers Rest frequently for lunch or evening meal and are never disappointed.

This is what pubs used to be. Good beer, well kept, and a landlady who has stamped her personality on the pub, and who knows that many people like a drink and maybe a meal in a proper bar with no kids in it. If you think a bar is a suitable environment for your children, this is not the pub for you. If you like a proper country pub with a landlady who gives you a genuine personal welcome rather than a chain pub with a manager and staff trained to greet you following a script, this is the place for you.

My friend and I visit this place about once a fortnight. It has been taken over by new owners/management recently, and the menu has changed - cooked breakfasts are now served until noon (breakfasts weren't served at all before). No main meals now (they used to serve chilli con carne, shepherd's pie, pie and chips, etc). I had a (tiny) jacket potato for £5. A slice of cake is now £4.25 a slice!! The cakes aren't even fresh or baked on the premises. We're going to go to Sprinters instead in future.
